You just gave me 5 reasons to buy the OLED.
😂
5 reasons to not buy it,
1 you don't buy a console for a screen.
2 you buy it because it's supposed to be portable, but that thing is gigantic.
3 and i should know this one because i had one, the battery life still sucks on it.
4 you won't be carrying it around everywhere, that's the biggest turn off.
5 the worst portable gaming experience i ever encountered lol.
yeah but this is what people want, no it isn't, Valve just decided to pull a Nintendo lol. now because Valve did it, ROG followed, and now even Sony is trying a version of their own. but there's is the worst, because it won't work without the PS5.
Lol. Triple AAA one hour on Steamdeck. That means 15 minutes on the Rog Ally.
Battery technology is not ready for AAA titles.
You actually get over an hour on the ally as well troll
Hey there,
1. "Linux handheld is not good":
- first, windows is made to be used by a lot of different devices, and is a lot more intensive than linux
Although some games cannot work on linux (due to anti-cheat for example), that does not mean that linux is bad in itself.
- second, Most if not all Steam verified games work fine.
2. "System's resolution is too low":
- Well, lets say we put a 1200 resolution on there, the performance will definitely suffer.
- The OLED model is a mid-generation refresh, thus performances are the same
3. "the only thing that feels different is the screen"
- So first, what's your source for only 10% battery life? What test did you do,
and if you did, can you show them as well as the methodology used?
- The 6nm chip was never meant to be a performance upgrade, just a similar performing chip with better efficiency.
- the fan has changed, the entire internal layout has changed.
In fact I would highly recommend Gamer's nexus steamdeck OLED teardown.
- Stating that a change of 40MWh-->50 is small is not really true, basically 40 --> 50 is a 25% increase in battery capacity.
Stuff that wasn't mentioned:
30 grams lighter
This comment isn't meant as a hate comment, but more as constructive criticism
either way, to the people who made it this far into my comment,
Have a wonderful day 😃
They really need to show the dislikes again
There are browser extensions to bring that CZcams feature back. Right now this video has 5 likes and 64 dislikes.
@@MrHurricaneFloydsadly, CZcams allows creators to delete dislikes, so right now 30 were made to disappear by this uninformed individual who made a video about something he has no knowledge about.
195 for now
@d.b.7952 as a prior content creator myself, the manipulation one can do for likes and dislikes is being heavily abused here on this channel. I recommend many to block/ignore this "Tech Consultant" channel. The likes are double the view counts (what the heck) and they are still actively deleting dislikes. I'm sure in time comments will also be deleted.
Yo los veo, con una extension y actualmente este video tiene 35 likes/ 374 dislikes 🙂
Thanks for talking me into getting the OLED Deck! Really.
This sounds like AI
stop hating on the steam deck
Agreed. I mean, the guy thinks it's underwhelming form the predecessor and he doesnt even own the new one. OLED is the reason i purchased it and never owned the deck before. Looks amazing and is according to digital foundry.
@@garethsmith6611yep I’m about to order one either this weekend or next.
@@ImTrans-Formerhonestly I'm getting paid tomorrow but only have enough to get the 64 gb model should I wait and get the oled or just go ahead and get 64 GB model?
@@Major_Louisif you can wait, wait. It will be worth it
@@garethsmith6611 he is bias lol!
My guy non of your arguments are good 😅 I have mines and I love it , I sold my LCD steam deck and now I'm rocking the OLED 😎
Wow of all reviews by someone who has no idea what they are talking about this guy tops them all...he was wrong on so many levels
I see over 190 dislikes. I wonder why? 😒
I’m getting my Steam Deck OLED this week. 😎
262 now😂
Because you people are blind fanboys that hate on anyone merely pointing out the flaws the deck has. Ridiculous the Legion Go blows the deck out of the water period!!
@@MCcalzone, those window handhelds aren’t good for gaming. You have to keep up with updates through windows and steam and let’s not forget about those patches for each game that breaks.
Enjoy that Paper Weight Ally…🤷🏾♂️
It's incredible how you managed to say everything wrong.
Linux is exactly why i am buying this
Nothing about the Steam Deck OLED disappoints me. Would I like it to be more powerful, sure, but the trade offs Valve have made to deliver the best current technology can offer are balanced and understandable . If you look at Steams hardware lists, most gamers don’t have a desktop capable of playing current AAA games in all their glory never mind expecting an handheld to magically bridge that gap.
Sometimes I ask myself what the purpose of these kind of reviews are. All your arguments are bollocks. One example, “7nm APU vs 6nm is not noticeable”…please learn something about chip manufacturing. This change alone means the OLED version will be noticeable more efficient resulting in longer battery life and less temperatures, as proven by many other “legit” YT reviewers already. Know your facts before putting out content.
Gonna buy this one day just for emulation.
The power jumps from 30 to 50% more power depending on the game. You're playing and the settings. That's a huge next generation in power.
30%-50% more battery, not power
@@OkiDingoit is more powerful though
@@Jactional not really, its the same chip with a smaller die. It’s slightly more efficient. Which gives a few more FPS.
Here’s why you should quit CZcams: this video
This is a weird ai voice thing
Proberbly because he knows he would get hate for saying what he says in his video.
As a first time buyer for me there are mutliple "layers" on my decision to pre order the 512gb Oled.
1) I can play AAA on bed and on the go (Every AAA on my Library works on the deck and i have hundrends of other AA or indie games on my backlog that i can finally give them a go)
2) Even if the deck becomes obsolete I can always use it as an emulation device or as a remote player paired with the oled screen its goona look awesome.
3) The user experience is miles better than any other pc portable atm.
4) The other competitors are either heavier or too expensive and dont justify the price per performance ratio, compared to the steam deck which is a far better deal.
5) As a Linux enthusiast this is my dream device and i can always use it as a laptop replacement for my work when im not at home.
Edit: Im sorry but the improvements are not marginal by any means Valve completely re engineered the deck and fixed every issue it had.
I bought two. Limited edition for myself and 1tb version for my brother
Can I be your other brother?
Your entitled to your opinion and these all seem like subjective takes to an extent. Also a bit like hate bait i think.
Ok lets start from the top.
This sound like ai. Not being rude but the enunciation is quite off
The fact its based on linux is well known, it also allows it to be a very console like experience.
The screen being a low resolution is a good thing because it offers a good balance between performance and battery life.
Also it has a PPI value that is astonishing at this size (194 ppi) most TV's/monitors dont even have that high of ppi.
Alsooooo the battery life would be worse without much of a noticeable difference at 1200p.
The steamdeck lcd has a 40wh, saying it lasted about an hour seems disingenuous at best. It lasted about 90 minutes and also thats a %25 capacity increase with it going to 50whr. Soooo saying it would be 10m is ludicrous and factually wrong, not to mention the saving on power from the die shrink and the oled panel itself.
60hz to 90hz isnt just a matter of will someone notice it, you can do some more homework instead of wasting time on farming other peoples content clips in order to push your stuff. Like seriously at least show resident evil 4 when ya say its name, not just a panning shot of cyberpunk 2077, hell look at igns coverage showing the battery life improvement for cyberpunk 2077. I respect your trying to make it, but put some more effort then this shovelware hate bait crap. You're better then that
What's comparable on the market to choose over this? The battery life also last longer than the original.
Your stance is going off the basis that every person who buys these things cares for the “portability” you’re describing as going outside, on a bus, plane etc. sorry to burst your bubble but not everyone even cares for the doing that and simply wants a easier time playing pc games on the go around the house or to a friends without being locked down by a pc. Some people don’t even care for the battery since you should play plugged in anyway for good performance. A lot of people dock their handhelds and play on a monitor or tv with it plugged in no doubt. Not everyone looks at battery life as pro for the steam deck because not everyone cares about the battery lol.
Putting the battery aside now what are we left with for reason the deck might not be it for some people..
1. Performance could be better
2. SteamOS is more for console players who don’t prefer to tinker or use a “pc” opting for a grab and go kinda switch style
(Even then playing mods is a hassle and some games don’t work which involves tweaking with the desktop and file explorer which is just.. god no Linux so hard to find a damn save file💀)
The decks biggest liked feature are the trackpads, Ergonomics, battery life (subjective) the screen (now), and for some the ease of use of SteamOS but most of all the price. These are all nice selling points but not everyone even cares for these things🤷🏾
60 vs 90 HZ is not a debate lmao, it is objective reality. Also slightly increased, most games see +50% battery life.
Just got it, if these are the worse problems it beats the competition by some points
Your cons aren’t convincing. Real world battery is much more than you stated. Windows gives more problems on the portable systems and the Steam Deck was meant to give a console experience right out of the box. People already know what to expect from performance as Valve’s marketing has stated as such. No wonder you have so many dislikes: misinformed and misguided. Side note: make your own video footage instead of taking others’ video and crediting them. It only makes you look lazy for not making your own content to back up your comments.
1. Linux based OS that Valve keeps working on to the point that Linux has better performance than Windows on the Deck. You can always install Windows and have better compatibility and less performance/comfort
2. Yeah, give us better resolution so we can have half the performance and less than an hour of battery life. 800p screen is more than enough for handheld gaming
3. Going to 6nm APU allowed them to improve battery life and it is significant
4. 90hz is noticeable difference, same as 60hz vs 40hz. It's perfect for indie games
5. 40Wh (not W as you said) vs 50Wh is 25% increase, not 10% that would be 44Wh
6. Legion Go and Ally are in completely different price categories, it's pointless to compare them that way
linux based steam deck is not cons but pros ! much better than windows system like on asus rog ally… yeah you cant play everything but system is optimalised exactly for steam deck and isnt pain like windows on other handhelds 😊
Pretty poor review, with incorrect facts about battery life.
ChatGPT wrote this script, 100%.
I mean the voice is already AI so i wouldn't be surprised
How do you get "10% increase in battery life"?
People tested Cyberpunk 2077. On the old Steam Deck they reached 90 minutes, on the new one iot was almost an hour longer.
The old Steam Deck had 40 Wh, not 45.
The additional playtime is usually 30 to 60% up, depending on the scenario. It is not only gained by a bigger battery, but also the OLED-display and the new APU (6nm instead of 7nm) consume less energy and the APU causes less heat.
This was the video to convince me to buy a Steam Deck OLED. Cheers.
Lmao so many incorrect facts, just a lazy clickbait video helplessly trying to get views
Don't bother watching
lmao
Love the name.
"Hear me, hear me! Stop eating Popplers! Stop eating them with honey mustard sauce. Stop eating them with tangy sweet-and-sour sauce. Stop eating the new fiesta Poppler salad. Stop taking advantage of the money-saving 12-pack. Stop enjoying Popplers on the patio, in the car, or on the boat. Wherever good times are had!"
-Bender
The information in this video is not quite accurate. Got the OLED yesterday and is impressive to say the least. I didn’t expect anything more than better colors and every aspect of this device is improved. The battery performance is much much more than 10 mins, the panel response times make the same fps look much smoother than the original and the joystick are now stellar. Not sure if you want to mislead people or you are suffering from bias
lunix (unix) is superior to windows for performance. The asus rog for example is a full version of windows 11 which is nice for sure but not the best choice for a handheld and the OS drags down performance. Had asus rog used linux and the same hardware it would be a monster that would dominate the handheld market! (also get rid of the white casing :-P)
I am here for convainq my self to not buy, but im too hype, sorry. I GO BUY IT
I just ordered the OLED Deck thanks to your video!
Nano - meter… Nan - oh - meat - er
Change your title. This isn’t about “why you shouldn’t buy” this video is about why shouldn’t UPGRADE. You’ve said absolutely nothing new in the video. All the points you made about why someone shouldn’t buy a Steam Deck could have been made about the original. No “told truths” here.
In handheld you can’t really tell a difference between 800p and 1200p. I had the legion go and couldn’t tell a difference
I gave you a shot but you blew it lol
Jeez louis your just looking at specs but not considering the impact to battery life and user experience. You’re also ignoring how much better the OS experience is over portable windows.. Also indie compatibility has never been an issue when using proton. I don’t get this reviews critics.
The comments 😂 i love how this is like a new generation of console wars.
I'm gonna get the Lenovo Legion Go but that doesnt mean i don't like this product. They are all cool yet flawed in their own ways. Steam deck probs the best all rounder handheld for software & user experience. Although I personally prefer a bugger screen with improved fps and I'm also more comfortable with windows. All these handhelds are cool! Im glad to be a part of it 😎 ps vita will never br forgotten 👀
Holy cow. For an AI generated voice-over this had me fooled for a whole 25 seconds! I wonder if anyone else in the comments section noticed?
Checked the other videos, there was a beauty where the AI voice said Jurassic instead of drastic. All levity aside, this tech is going to put actual people out of work in no time, not just the voice talent, but other youtubers who can't compete against rapid AI-churn bait videos like this.
Man u just made me buy it!! This video made me buy it
1200p would result in performance loss, 800p is ideal display resolution. 6nm, combined with 25% bigger batter and OLED HDR screen plus improved fan, results in 30-50% battery life improvement, and a cooler Deck.
Dude can't even get basic facts right 🤦🏽
Whenever I see words like 'expert' or 'consultant' in a channel name I'm super suspicious as I find it quite pretentious. I watched the video and I was right again. I'm guessing you don't own the new deck, so your 'consulting' was based purely on what you found out on Google or on CZcams. Amazing 🤦🏻♂️
I bought a steam deck oled, and I love it, plays games flawlessly, yes it can't play some, but there is a way you can download windows and solve that
If they can push a way for the wattage to go above 15w I think it would be worth it
Lmaooo I love when Im watching a video and I know exactly what the comments are gonna be.
Some people just have to find something to complain about.
Got to love hating just for the sake of hating 😂
Imma buy it
… I never thought I’d be “that guy” but having it run Linux is a very good thing. You could run windows if you wanted, but it’s just a worse experience. Enjoy your higher resolution, heavy windows handheld that dies in about an hour.
A lot of the stuff mentioned sounded nitpicky
already bought it woo!! let's go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This guy really thought 1% = 1 minute bruh
How can you complain about low resolution, lack of power and battery life all in the same video? That's like complaining that you only eat 5000cal a day while also complaining that 5000cal is making you gain weight..
Guy lists supposed disadvantages i see only reasons to buy 😂
dude you have no idea what are you talking about Linux is a Pro and oled screen doubles the battery life
This is an AI voice model. Through multiple videos, the narrator gets key names and/or enunciation wrong. It repeats those enunciations - the same way.
just dual-boot into windows from an SD card and there's your windows Anti cheat games
the linux thing seems like a pretty big con, apparently you can get non-verified games to run but you have to jump through tons of hoops.
Currently out of my 710 game library i have 34 games that 10 minutes of downloading a proton ge version or putting a single command line in steam couldnt fix. Of those 34 4 required manually skipping cutscenes as they just froze after playing and 7 has crackling audio in cutscenes. The others were unfixable at least until valve gets to making a proton to fix their problems. But yeah for those few games it is definitely a downside on compatibility just not as big as most seem to think.
The battery life is 30-50% better, please check your facts.. especially if your CZcams name is Tech Consultant.....
It sounded like a lot of your negatives are actually positives, and your conclusions are mostly inconclusive. 🤔
This guys claims about linux is flat out wrong. Proton is mature enough to play almost any windows game ever, anti cheat on select games being the only issue. As for the screen resolution, anything more than 800p is a waste, google when a resolution difference is noticeable by people. Also the battery life is notably extended on this model. This video is borderline misinformation.
Sound like hate video... for price deck has no competition... they could drop price of 64gb model to make it unbeatable... 800p helps with performance
Okay, I buy the new OLED Model! Thank you!
Came here looking for actual issues and only found a hate+Clickbait video.
After what Sony did to Vita owners, they can kiss my ass ..Valve has done more for Deck owners in 1 year than what Sony did for Vita owners in 10 years.
I don't even own a Deck, but I know a hater that doesn't know what he's talking about when I hear one.
Sounds like a click bait, just ordered mine.
Sounds like some misinformation to me, still glad i just bought mine like one hr ago
Telling a man what to do with his finance, No Thank You!!!
From 40w to 50w not 45w
Verry bad review
This guy doesn’t have a clue! He mentions Linux being a negative thing. The OS and the time Valve has spent developing their software is the biggest reason for the decks success. They are working with developers to optimize games. It’s funny how he mentions indie company games not running well, but I’ve noticed loads of indie games running extremely well. It’s also the top rated device for emulation and a huge retro community is supporting it.
Then he talks about the battery life on the new deck only being 10% better. That’s a blatant lie! There’s been a lot of testing and on average, the new Deck battery life is at least 50% better than the previous model and significantly better than the Ally or the Go. He barely even talks about how much more efficient everything runs on the new device or how much cooler it runs. All in all it’s obvious he doesn’t know much about the device. He’s very much misinformed and exposes his ignorance in this video!
Wow. It makes no sense to say "disappoint those eager to play indie PC games". Those are awful points, don't listen to this guy, 10/10 reviewers says it's the indies heaven, and 9/10 are not bothered by the resolution. This person doesn't know what he's talking about
Rog ally has worse battery life and has less customizable controls.
Sorry but this video just seems like such a low effort shot at grabbing views.
Your arguments are not thought through at all…
It’s not so easily possible to just increase resolution, for example, as this would lead to significantly more battery drain and likewise would be more taxing on the CPU…
I just bought one to spite you 👍
Madman
I’m here because I can’t wait for mine to come in the mail and I’ve watch every video on it…. But this dude does sound like a big hater though
Hate people hating on the steam deck oled just because they dream of owning one. I mean, I just bought one and cannot wait for it. DF said its best handheld on the market today and so glad i ordered one. I didnt watch the video because not supporting videos giving money to creators with negativity. Chnages from the predecessor are underwhelming you say ? ahahha, what a joke. Have you even set your eyes on OLED.
Im so glad I was holding on and didnt get one, honestly Valve Fixed every issue I Had with the old model and finally took the plunge and ordered the 512gb oled. The worst part is waiting for it I keep refreshing the Shipping status page like a maniac haha.
People like him make it sound like the competitors like the ally can run AAA gmaes on ultra settings and bash the Deck for the perfomance. I did my research and the perfomance on those other supposed more powerful devices don't justify the price per perofmance ratio to not get a a steam deck. they are heavier last less on battery, and the overall ergonomics and user experience is way subpar to the deck. you essentially pay more money to still play AAA games on low/medium presets for a few more fps.
Its NANOmeter, not NANOMeter
The negativity is strong with this one 😂
These ai channels are wild
en serio alguien se toma el tiempo para hacer esta gansada? jaja
Have you even used it!?!?
Ratio’d lol
Lol
Is this an ai voice?
Lol. Great way to make sure I never subscribe.
What are you gonna do if I buy one? Cry? Piss your pants? Grovel why don't you
Seems this guy never held a Steam Deck in his hands. Why should you need more resolution on a handheld? 🤦♂
Steamdeck Sucks Legion Go FTW!!!!
You seriously need to do your research before hating on something in a video.
800p screen is hardly an issue at handheld screen sizes
FSR1.0 looks terrible at any resolution and isnt needed in most games as fsr 2 plus support is widespread for games where fsr is required
Battery life is 30%-50% better depending on game... where you got 10% despite a 25% bigger battery, more power efficient screen and more power efficient apu I will never know.
The 6nm change is purposefully not a performance upgrade it was only targeting power efficiency but it is 4-7% faster too
Almost a half an inch screen size increase is not hardly anything when talking about screen sizes under 12 inches. In this case the OLED steam deck screen is around 12% larger than the LCD steam deck which is huge for those games that just barely had hard to read text and such and is not a small difference.
This is not a new steam deck it is a refresh and not meant to boost performance. The steam deck also still beats the Ally in sub 15 watt performance. But yes the Ally is also great.
My question is why you would make a video when you obviously do not know anything about the device.
Ridiculous
Dislike even tought peapol cant see it
Just wow. Lol. There are just straight up lies in this video review. This channel just lost any credibility it might have had.
It's an AI youtuber. lmao
