    Having bought, LOVED, and owned the ‪@asusrog‬ Ally for 5 months now, as much as I LOVE this piece of AMAZING tech, I realized that it is not the right product for me, and I probably just wasted over $1000. Here's 5 reasons based on my personal experience, which hopefully can help you check and tune your expectations if you are currently looking to purchase a ROG Ally for yourself :)
    Enjoy!

    Having a SD, Ally, and Go I just prefer the Ally. I sold my SD and returned the Go to Best Buy after a week. I haven't ran into any issues with running games, and I find it a lot easier then the SD and having to deal with "deck verified." On my Deck I had issues with updates breaking compatibility. So far I haven't had that issue with the Ally.

    The first game I installed after purchasing a ROG Ally was the evil within 1, windows store version. By default I have same issue with you. Need to click power button and then turn back on to make it work. But then I found that setting game resolution to 720P full screen, then before launching the game, set desktop resolution to 720P as well, it will run perfectly. I almost returned it immediately after I installed this game as my first game on it, but now I am happy with it.

    I recently replaced the Steam Deck with the ROG Ally and I love the extra power. Windows is the worst and best thing about the Ally. I miss the easy use of the Steam Deck but the 1080p VRR Screen, Z1 Extreme for extra power when docked make it worth it for me. If I wasn't around a plug I would probably be forced to go with the OLED Steam Deck for better battery.

    • @MrCoffis
      @MrCoffis Před 7 měsíci +1

      The VRR really is a huge feature. Especially for the under powered steam deck it would have been a blessing to make games appear smoother during frame dips. You explained it perfectly. Windows is the best worst thing.

      Just take a battery with you when traveling like the baseus blade at 74wh, it supports 100w charging at max and can give you a total of 40 + 74 watts hours of battery life. That means 30W mode for 2 hours and a half straight, or almost 11h30 of 10w gaming.

    I thought i was gonna have a lot of buyers remorse after my open box ally was a BUST. I said why not just take my soul and exchanged for a new one. Im a busy Dad who got into gaming again via the switch. I cloud and have a series s. Not super tech savvy. I love my ally. Way less issues than i thought. It's windows in a handheld with backup programs needed so yea occasionally im like you need a restart. That's my only issue really. IF this device holds up it will be my main game console and i dont have a computer so im set now. Im a few days in. I love it.
    Edit: I have not tried a sim card. That's a big error on Asus part I'll give them that. Via my personal experience with device tho. I feel id have to be in turbo mode playing MW2 to experience this reported issue. I did some temp research upon my purchase and I'm almost always in 18 watt just under or just at 60c. Turbo is a nice function to have but it's not really meant to be or meant to be for long IMO. So yea that'll cook your unit and your SD card reader 🤷

    I'm a big fan of the new handheld market and i'm following alot of different handheld devices, but even though the ROG Ally, the Steam Deck and the Legion GO are big names and big players, i would never choose one of these handhelds. The handhelds that i'm really excited for are the Onexfly, the GPD Win4, the Aokzoe A1 Pro and other devices like that on the market, the reason for that is the overall hardware specs of these machines, the big name devices (Ally, Steam, GO) have a max of 16gb Ram and 512GB of storage, while most of the other handhelds have a max of 64gb and some even 4TB of storage, and i'm not even talking about the Ryzen 7 that's powering them. Those are the handheld that i'm saving for, and yes, i know, they are more expensive, but i'm willing to pay more for a powerful device.

    Does he know you can use the analog stick to control the mouse? The fingerprints really do you not have a cell phone? There is a thing called a save point lol just like any computer you need to adjust the settings, and the steam deck not all games work either. Damn I can't stand this guy just bashing a great product

    • @GamersClinic
      @GamersClinic  Před 6 měsíci

      Hi! Before I reply, I just wanted to let you know I love the ROG Ally and still use it almost everyday. It is a great product, but it’s not perfect. Because it’s not perfect, this video is meant to share the negatives that I’ve encountered this far to give those looking to buy to know what to expect. (So people will stop expecting the Ally to be the “perfect” handheld PC gaming console; if that makes sense)
      Though as the Ally is constantly getting great updates, so let’s just hope ASUS keeps them coming and make it as close to perfect as possible.
      Now, as for your patronizing remarks, if you did watch through the video, I did mention that you could use the analogue to click one by one to type, but it’s slow. As for fingerprints, if it’s not a big deal, why are so many people pointing out this topic in reviews when a product is a “fingerprint magnet”. I dunno, maybe you don’t mind oily and screens with print smudges, but there are those who do mind, like myself. I like my screen clean, and I don’t see that there’s a problem with that.
      As for save points, it is up to the game design, not all games have settings to let you set auto save all the time.
      My guess is you skipped though most of the content, but if you didn’t want to see negative opinions and comments about a product you very much love, why did you click in for and what did you expect the content to be? I mean I understand that it’s normal for us consumers to want to justify that the product we just spent a good chunk of money on is the best, but sometimes, that’s just not the case. And as I am also a consumer, I like to share my opinions with others by creating content to share my experiences so that people know what to expect and decide if their hard earned money will be better spent on other products. And maybe if I’m lucky make a few pennies to support my passion with gaming tech for making more videos and trying more products.
      So self-righteous and snarky comments like your’s obviously arent helpful. I never leave negative comments on other creators’ content because I know it’s not easy to put together a video.(unless it’s a scam or something dangerous to trick viewers) so maybe this long-butt reply from me can help broaden your perspective about not jumping to conclusions to hastily. Happy holidays and happy gaming!
