The invention of your own scholars.... Written hundreds of years after the Death of the Prophet pbuh. Al Wahidi died around 1076? My question why is it that the vast majority of Islamic Literature were written during The Abbasid Tyranny. Why are these texts predominantly Persian? Or did the Abbasids have their own agenda? Where are the books written by the Ummayads?
From a personal perspective I argue:
What we call Islam today is a belief system that is heavily rooted/ influenced by Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, Judaism, Christianity and Pre Islamic Arab Cultural Practices. Hence, the hundreds of Sects all discrediting each other. Just have a look any the Muslim World 2021 what do see nothing but apathy and despair? Where's the Peace? Where's the Love for Our fellow Human Beings?
More, we cannot, repeat cannot compare the Quran with additional texts, the then Government endorsed Tasfirs, Hadiths, Siras, etc. Do you doubt the Quran? Isn't it enough for you?

Opening comment is strawman. Most quran-only and quranist folks do not say people shouldn't follow the prophet muhammad (pbuh). In fact I have never heard this. To follow the quran is to inherently follow the messenger.
Frankly nothing should be "automatic", re: from quran to hadith. We are instructed to be thoughtful and deliberate.
I'm disappointed he doesn't address the quranic verses that quranists cite to support their viewpoint. He just puts forth a couple he thinks supports his own. Those to me are too open and non-specific to support his claim.
I myself am more a strong "quran-first" rather than "quran-only" muslim but between them and the conventional wahabist influenced clerics I see stronger support for the former.

I personally believe that if God says of himself that His word is free of falsehood and contradiction, it is out of question to follow a Source (Hadith) that is full of it. He could never have given an authority over this source, otherwise He would be a liar or simply not worthy of a God.
Also His book is sufficient as a guidance for the believers in which no detail has been left out (6:114-115; 10:37). So why do you believe that there is a need to rely on the Hadith books for guidance?

@@FM-kl1wv Yes. God says in chapter 2 that fighting is ordained for those who are attacked first. In other words, you have a right to fight someone who attacks you first; that’s basic self-defense. At 9:13, God says that the people to be killed at 9:5 attacked the messenger and the believers first. Not only did they attack first, they broke their covenant with the messenger and the believers. Imagine signing a peace treaty with someone and then they attack you and break the treaty; it’s a betrayal and can be an ambush. It doesn't say anywhere in the Quran to follow scriptures beside the quran, on the contrary it does say that we shouldn't follow any hadith beside the quran [45:6]. To follow and obey the messenger means to follow the quran since allah hasn't given us the message directly. Allah said in the quran we should use our intellect and not follow the scholars like sheep. That would make us no different than the Christians and jews who took their scholars and monks as lords beside Allah [9:31] (At-tawba). Allah said in the quran, that the quran is a detailed explanation of all things [12:111](Yusuf), so anything we need for our religion we can find in the quran.

The prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was instructed to pass on the message that is the Qur'an and NOTHING but the holy Qur'an. It also says if the prophet prohibits something, it is as if Allah swt prohibited it. People take this line as a misconception. This helps us to understand that we should only follow the Qur'an. Other evidence is when in the Qur'an it says, any deviation from the Qur'an by the Prophet would result in severe punishment. The Qur'an also tells us many many times to not distinguish among the prophets for they are all equal. People nowadays put Prophet Muhamad above the rest of the messengers which is simply Idolatry. Research brothers and sisters and you will find that the Hadith and Sunnah, although they provide life lessons and what not, are merely he-said she-said. The only true instructions we need are within the holy Qur'an. Allah swt said the Qur'an is perfect, fully-detailed, and is the only thing you need for salvation. Stop calling the prophet's name during the Adhan, Stop putting the prophet's name on mosques right next to the name of Allah, and please understand that even the prophets will enter Jannah by Allah's mercy the same way that we will insha'Allah. If you want proof based on the holy Qur'an and nothing but the Qur'an please go to submission.org where you will see the mathematical miracle that actually shows us how to pray as the Qur'an intended and not how all the scholars change it today. However, without the 15,000 pages of Hadeeth, the 500 pages of Quran are one-legged and half-blind. How can a half-blind, one-legged book alone provide all the answers to life? It needs supplementation of Hadeeth to furnish for commandments that were left by Allah in the main Scripture. Just my opinion.

      Surah 17:
      18. Whoever desires the fleeting life, We expedite for him what We decide to give him, to whomever We desire. Then We consign him to Hell, where he will roast, condemned and defeated.
      19. But whoever desires the Hereafter, and pursues it as it should be pursued, while he is a believer; these-their effort will be appreciated.
      20. To all-these and those-We extend from the gifts of your Lord. The gifts of your Lord are not restricted.
      21. See how We have favored some of them over others; yet the Hereafter is greater in ranks, and greater in favors.
      22. Do not set up another god with God, lest you become condemned and damned.
      23. Your Lord has commanded that you worship none but Him, and that you be good to your parents. If either of them or both of them reach old age with you, do not say to them a word of disrespect, nor scold them, but say to them kind words.
      24. And lower to them the wing of humility, out of mercy, and say, “My Lord, have mercy on them, as they raised me when I was a child.”
      25. Your Lord knows best what is in your minds. If you are righteous-He is Forgiving to the obedient.
      26. And give the relative his rights, and the poor, and the wayfarer, and do not squander wastefully.
      27. The extravagant are brethren of the devils, and the devil is ever ungrateful to his Lord.
      28. But if you turn away from them, seeking mercy from your Lord which you hope for, then say to them words of comfort.
      29. And do not keep your hand tied to your neck, nor spread it out fully, lest you end up liable and regretful.
      30. Your Lord expands the provision for whomever He wills, and restricts it. He is fully Informed, Observant of His servants.
      31. And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them, and for you. Killing them is a grave sin.
      32. And do not come near adultery. It is immoral, and an evil way.
      33. And do not kill the soul which God has made sacred, except in the course of justice. If someone is killed unjustly, We have given his next of kin certain authority. But he should not be excessive in killing, for he will be supported.
      34. And do not go near the orphan’s property, except with the best of intentions, until he has reached his maturity. And honor your pledge, because the pledge involves responsibility.
      35. And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with accurate scales. That is fair, and the best determination.
      36. And do not occupy yourself with what you have no knowledge of. The hearing, and the sight, and the brains-all these will be questioned.
      37. And do not walk proudly on earth. You can neither pierce the earth, nor can you match the mountains in height.
      38. The evil of all these is disliked by your Lord.
      39. That is some of the wisdom your Lord has revealed to you. Do not set up with God another god, or else you will be thrown in Hell, rebuked and banished.

Prophet was a prophet for the Bani Israel in the style of the previous prophets and the last one in that chain , explaining to them the corruption of the Torah and getting them to make the transition to the Quran
Muhammad was a messenger for those whose forefathers were not warned I e not from Bani Israel these people are called mumineen, the ones who already believed in Allah and his scriptures and understand tawheed are called those who have believed
Believed 👈 pass tense ( ayyuhal latheena amanu )
Believers 👈 presant, future tense ( mumineen )
It's a shame how many people don't know this even myself for 2 decades
Wasn't Muhammads job to explain the Quran in totality he was a messenger, his job was to deliver the messenge and fight for it's revelation and to preserve it through the people which he did

He knows much better than we what motivates the human, cause and effect, action reaction. People uncomfortable with ambiguity and perceived chaos, rather than accept personal responsibility and therefore accountability, required research and taking a stand, instead prefer to abdicate human agency as God has endowed his creation. Learned helplessness. Remarkable.

Then it is further authenticated by some men you and I do not know. Sahih Bukhari has several contradictions. Doesn’t God forbid us to not follow other books? He says the Messenger follows the Quran so follow him (IN THE QURAN).
Why doesn’t any single Muslim here know the Quran? If they did they would know that Mufti Menk misquoted the verse. It’s talking about distributing wealth. The fact that NOT ONE person caught this proves to me Muslims do not care about God enough to learn his book which is actually fard.

"Although the verse was revealed in connection with fai', its words are general. They are not specific to wealth. They cover all the commands as well. Hence, the generalized meaning of the verse is that whatever the Holy Prophet ﷺ gives to a person, be it wealth, any other grant or any command, the people must show their willingness to accept it. And whatever he forbids them, they should stay away from it.
      .
Many of the Companions took the generalized sense of the verse, and on the basis of it, they took the Holy Prophet's ﷺ commandment as binding as the Qur'anic commandment. Qurtubi said that in this verse the antonym of ata [ gives ] is naha [ forbids ]. This shows that the verb ata [ gives ] is used in the sense of amara [ commands ] which is the direct antonym of naha [ forbids ]. The Qur'an, instead of using the direct opposite of naha [ forbids ] which is amara [ commands ], employed the verb ` ata [ gives ] presumably to embrace the context of the subject-matter where the verse occurs, that is, the disbursement of fai' property."

There are some verses in the Quran that are not applicable for us today. Such as these ones:
    49:2
"O believers! Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet, nor speak loudly to him as you do to one another"
    33:53
"O believers! Do not enter the homes of the Prophet without permission ˹and if invited˺ for a meal, do not ˹come too early and˺ linger until the meal is ready. But if you are invited, then enter ˹on time˺. Once you have eaten, then go on your way, and do not stay for casual talk."
So how do we not raise our voice to the Prophet today? How do we not go to his home uninvited? The answer is that these laws were for the people who were living with him when he was alive, tho we can still take the teaching of manners in those verses but we cannot follow everything that's mentioned in there. So I would say that "follow the messenger" is the same, as a former Quran only Muslim, I will tell you that Quranists don't say to ignore and disobey the Prophet, rather they reject the books of hadith as authentic and consider them unnecessary, like the Bible. They would not refuse to obey the messenger if he was still alive.

He's lying about us and Quran.
      We (Quran aloners) don't say
      "don't follow the messenger"
      We literally say "follow him,
As his way is Quran alone."
And his orders are in Quran
As he ordered from it alone.
      / 98:5, 4:105, 3:128, 3:154.
      Sunni-shia Ahadith are baseless,
Not for vain they were not allowed
To be written in Rashidun Khaliphate,
They've no based "Science of Hadith"
Their "IlmarRijal" is a pick & choose
Play of whom they think are right
      Merely picking those of status,
      While even Prophet didn't know
      Some hypocrites as said 9:101.
& Bukhari isn't checked by matn,
it breaks if to compare to Qur'an.
And none of sunni-shia can give
      4 witnesses for "Ahadith"/ 24:13,
While Hafs gave 4 for his Qiraat,
So Quran didn't come the same
      Way as those fabricated Ahadith
      Which were written centuries later.
      59:7 is about war gains,
      It's only for the poor/ 59:8,
Are Hadiths not for the rich?
      Sunnis mess up interpretations.
And the duty of the messenger
Is only to deliver the message,
      That's only Qur'an/ 5:99, 14:52.
      & In 4:59 there isn't said "follow"
      But said "obey", they mistranslate,
& read 4:60, it talks of themselves
      Who give laws to transgressions,
      & 4:62 refutes Bukhari Hadith 1.
      33:66 is also about obeying,
And we obey and follow him.
And if you read that in context
You can see it's of disbelievers
      And sunnis always play games
When we show verses like 2:170
That it's not about them but other,
      While see the double standards,
So they now say it's about us?
      And next verses clarifies that
      It's exactly about their likes,
      Who obeyed their chiefs
      And their nobles instead,
      Exactly like how sunnis obey
      Their "Khaliphas" made up rules
And their mullas who make fatwas.
And next is even astonishingly clear
That it's about them who invent lies
About the messenger as did Jews
      Invent lies about Prophet Musa,
And next is again clarifying that
The Qur'an was given to a human
      Cuz Heavens, Earth and mountains
Didn't take the responsibility for it
But a man took, so it's sent to us,
But sunnis ask "why it's not sent
To a mountain, why to a man?"
      So that's answered in Quran,
      It's to expose the hypocrites
      and polytheists as noted there.
      And previous verses clarify more
      The hypocrites spread false rumors
In Madina, just as sunnis and shias,
So they didn't stop but they went on
So the verse that mufti (fatwa giver)
Is giving is about themselves clearly
Context over and over exposes them.
      / 33:66, 33:64-65, 33:67-68, 33:69-71,
      33:72-73, 33:60-62, 2:170-171, 31:21.
      Allah is enough for Muslims.

Thank you Mufti Menk for bringing up this topic! If we as Muslims are convinced to be the people that follow the final and uncorrupted religion of Allah then we also have to be confident in defending the Truth through debates. If one cannot defend his own beliefs trough words and reasoning, we can conclude that the very same person lacks a true evidence base and in conclusion only follows the sayings of the people around him. In the Quran Allah gave us a lot of examples where He has shown the Prophets (and other figures) great signs for that these people may be one of them who are convinced. On the other side it was also the Prophets who actively asked God for signs to make them one of the convinced. Prophet Moses for example was shown a mountain breaking which made him faint (Al A'raf 143). In Surah Al Baqarah verse 260 it is narrated that Prophet Abraham asked God for proofs to although he was already believing. In conclusion these narrations in the Quran show us that a person is in need of proofs to become someone convinced. Today we too often hear that as Muslims we dont need reasoning to be a believer. Rather people say reasoning is insulting to God! How can we put our Reasoning aside and blindly follow if God is countless times demands us to use our reasoning?? This in conclusion should make us followers of the final revelation think and conclude that only believing because we are told by people to believe is not a characteristic of a true believer. Rather this is the characteristic of blind followers. We have to change our approach in debating about religion since it is Rationality what God is demanding of us! This way no one who wants to stay truthful will need to resort to shouting or even threats. This is because the Truth always speaks for itself.
