A main reason is Indians still look down at cycle as a 'low class' vehicle. Almost everyone thought that I've gone broke and couldn't afford a scooter when I bought a lectro for commute. Things will look up once this mindset changes. Corona-induced fuel inflation has started this change in the mindset now.

I've been using E-bikes in Canada since 2005. They are, i think, the best way to get around - cheap and good for the world! I live in very hilly Vancouver (and am now well into my 60s) and the bikes have let me leave cars behind and get around easily.

E-CYCLE FOR ABOVE 50K IS TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY, YOU CAN BUY A NORMAL GEAR CYCLE FOR 10K AND CONVERT IT TO ELECTRIC CYCLE WITH AN ELECTRIC KIT PURCHASED FROM AMAZON, TAKE YOUR CYCLE AND THAT KIT TO A CYCLE REPAIR SHOP AND THEY WILL EASILY FIX THE MOTOR AND BATTERY COMPONENTS IN Rs200 , and this will not cost you more than 10K , so total cost 20K, 10k for cycle and 10K for ELECTRIC kit, now why its better than hero e-cycle which is priced at less than 20K, because your assembled bike will have a removable battery, which is convenient to charge and replace, secondly battery in assembled bike is more powerful and gives throttle mileage of more than 30km, thirdly you can later on mount a battery with more capacity later on after 2-3 years of use, as universal cycle batteries are available in different power options for different range like 40km, 60km etc.

I'm all up for Conversion Kits and I completely agree with the points you made. A concern I faced with a brand who sells E-Bike kits in Pune was shortage of deliveries from their own suppliers. If that's the case with brands then little do I know the case could be with online sellers on Amazon. Warranty and water resistance of the parts would be a point to thoroughly check as well. Maybe buying a cheap E-Bike by a popular brand like Lectro, using it until the warrenty lasts and then modifying it could be another solution I believe. ✌🏽 That said, I'm open to try conversion kits myself.

I'll need to try variety of E-Bikes myself to claim a certain number. On paper, the Hero Lectro EHX20 claims 80kms range (₹1,35,00), Helieo H200 and M200 claims range of 75kms (₹48k and ₹52k) and the Helieo M100 has a claimed range of 65kms (₹44k). The main reason people not buying e cycles in india is
    1. The quality of cycle is not good. They use local tyres. Parts. All cheap. Steel heavy frame. Cheap lithium battery. No rear suspension. They dont care for the quality. They just want to earn money. One should think of making innovative things. I liked the Tezlla e bike. It's very innovative. Got every kind of new concepts with lights. Display meter. Mobile holder. Rear suspension. Folding bicycle. After sales service. Home charging the battery. Every manufacturer should think and come out with new innovations.

40 km its difficult with hero lectro as it has just 5.2 Ah battery. Go for ebicycle having more than 10 Ah battery. ETRON+ having 13.2 Ah battery. Throttle only goes to 50 km and with 3-4 level paddle assist goes upto 60-70 km. In mumbai it must hv dealers also.

Mudguards are sold separately. You need to choose the Mudguard when you buy the cycle. Make sure you buy the full sized ones, the short ones don't protect your back and bottom part.

I would've gone for Hero Lectro Glide Lady (7 Speed). I personally like step through frames to avoid groin injury, Plus it's got 7 gears for easier commute and seems like it's got removable front wheel as well (looking at the pictures here): www.choosemybicycle.com/en/woc/expert-reviews/lectro-lady-glide-review
All in all, a practical E-Bike if kept the stereotypes aside that step through frames are meant only for women. It's got good space so in future, one could modify it and attach an additional battery for extra range.

I have a AWD modified e bicycle and i have spent close to Rs 62,000/- for my e bicycle and when i mention this to people, most of them prefer to go for a scooter for that price. With an exception for a few folks,Nobody really cares for the environment or fitness.

Good analysis. Main problem I have noticed... No proper communication from the sellers, as you mentioned in this video.
My suggestion is government has to give permission to increase its speed, without restrictions that is registration & Licence. Then only the business of E bikes may flourish. Without Government support we can't make our Earth as polution free Earth.
    Thanks.
