Thanks for the video! Buddy of mine who has a BRZ is coming by and we're going to be installing oil pressure gauge and accusump this weekend in prep for track season.
As a new GR86 owner, thank you for all of your informative videos regarding the vehicle. Going to look into all of these mods to make sure that the car has a long & healthy life in my garage.
I’ve always wanted a prelubing system, since “80% of bearing wear happens at startup,” or so they say. Now I’d like to install this on my other vehicle, a 6.2 L G1 Ford Raptor, which makes noise like dry OHC noise at startup until it gets oil pressure. This might fix that! Great vid, thanks for the idea 💡!
Love your videos. What are your thoughts on adding a turbo kit and will you be adding one in the future? I love my gr86 but I wish it had more power and I’m looking in to what i can do to increase the HP.
At 21:49, what is that part that you’re using to tap into for oil pressure? I am currently using a port built-in to the oil filter housing of my oil cooler kit, but my oil pressure seems to be reading high, even though my oil level appears to be OK. I’m thinking it’s because I’m tapping in into the filter housing.
Thanks for posting man. Are you at all worried about oil seals prematurely leaking from the increased oil pressure? Unless the crank breather can flow enough air maybe? Or just not a concern at all?
Think you can help a brother out and let me know what that block you had plugged into the stock oil pressure spot is called, I can’t find any decent into on what adapters work for mating the oil pressure gauge to that spot and that block looks like it opens up some decent options. Got a link ?
How much extra oil did you add. I did my install and my motor kinda sounds a little more choppy than it did before. Not sure if I like the new “Noises”
Not 100% sure but I let the car run for a little bit to fill up the accumulator and then added oil to where it’s about a quarter inch over the full line
Hey Rob, some channel tested with a 1qt overfill pretty much eliminated the oil pressure drop, just need to drain it back after trackday, any particular reason makes you still go with the accumulator setup ?
@@phelpsgarage4202 thanks! gd to know that, wish you all the best with the new setup, love your contents! wonder if you're interested on getting some more power on your next step, i felt like this car with 300-350 hps is the sweet spot, im considering it myself, but not sure about the reliability, some say ok some say not ok, so hard to tell...
Did you see the video by BTR Garage Justin where he says he had to bypass the pressure switch because it wasn’t working good enough, any thoughts on this?
I don’t use a pressure switch either. As it’s starting to lose pressure it will start filling the motor right away instead of waiting until it see less than 40 psi to start filling. I feel like that is too long before filling.
I would run a line from the block to the T that has your sensors. I would be really sad if all that weight + vibrations from the engine broke that port off the block...
how did you get the electronic valve to trigger at a desired pressure? or is the valve preset to a pressure? i.e. valve A is for 60 psi, valve B is for 30 psi?@@phelpsgarage4202
@@phelpsgarage4202 ok thanks! I have Accusump ready in my garage, but still not sure if install it or not. Little but worried about oil blow in to the engine space 👀
Thanks Rob. I bought a GR86 a few months ago. Thanks for documenting your progress and encouraging others.
Thanks for watching!
So much room for upgradability with this platform.
Yeah not bad
Great video as usual! I appreciate the chat at the beginning, I’ve leaned a lot from you!
Thanks for watching!
Awesome video! Users looking to install an oil accumulator into their GR86/BRZ will certainly find videos like this super helpful. Two thumbs up 👍🏼
I appreciate your input!

Congrats on the ownership. Let me know if I can help
Thx Rob its a good and clear video! Lets hope it helps as good in de corner as on startup , 25+ psi is worth the install.👍
Thank you! It’s was a long video 😅 but worth it I would say
These videos are so helpful

Yes, I’m adding a turbo kit in the future. Looking to make about 100 hp more.
Mic is finally fixed!
I've been really loving AMSoil 0W-40
👌
Some of the time 😂

I’m using a glow shift oil sensor thread adapter.
Thanks for posting man.

As of right now no it’s not a concern. Also, I have two oil catch cans on the car and I never see oil in them.

Glowshift 1/8 BSPT oil sensor thread adapter
Hope this does the trick for keeping the oil pressure in check for you.
Me too!

It 100 % helps but the problem is still there. This would be the next best thing

Any reason for keeping the manual valve?
If I need to service it or if the electrical power fails

Good to know. Saves me money on a pressure switch. You the man. How’s the new baby doing
@@RyanPine baby is doing well! Thanks for asking
For $500 it's good insurance.
I agree. Plus you can make oil pressure before starting up the car, which is awesome!

Hello. Why Moroso and not Accusump? Sorry of it’s in video and I missed it
It was either the 1.5 quart versus the 2.5 quart and I wanted the smaller one
@@phelpsgarage4202 ok thanks!

@@Pan.martin I believe the Moroso one has it internally, so it shouldn’t leak oil, but anything is possible
Did it fix the issue for you?
I’m sure it helps. I have an oil baffle plate with and do an over fill. I would see drops at Sebring but haven’t been back since the install

I’ll probably do a video on it soon
