Adema
Not sure how it charted, but Face Down by Red Jump Suit Apparatus seems like a 1 hit wonder.
@@Sonnnay I don't think they count. I'm pretty sure "Your Guardian Angel" charted well, too, but I could be wrong
Here’s a one hit wonder
Quarashi - stick em up
My personal one-hit wonders from that time:
Smile Empty Soul
Fefe Dobson
Unwritten Law
Tantric
I feel like "Scotty Doesn't Know" could definitely be on here
Did it ever chart?
No homo dude, but I love you for referencing Eurotrip
I love this song lol.
@@ashleyjpbanks666 probably not on real charts, but it blew up everywhere in Eurotrip lol
I highly doubt that Matt Damon actually sang it
I was dating a girl named Stacey when "Stacey's mom" came out. I can tell you two things; 1. Stacey's mom most definitely did NOT have it going on and 2. They both HATED that song! Stacey was hot af though
I was hanging out with a homie of mine once and he was talking about how he was talking to this girl named Stacey. I said to him “Stacey huh? How’s her mom?” I’ve never seen someone laugh so hard in my life
I9K did a parody about Pamela Voorhees ("Jason's Mom"), and it is arguably better/funnier than the original.
@@seanwilkinson7431 I came here to say that 😅
Who remembers "Just the Girl" by the Click Five. That had to be the absolute cheesiest catchy 2000's one hit wonder
Such a great song! They also had a follow up single called Catch Your Wave which was pretty good too.
I remember it
Bruh I love that song lol. It’s a guilty pleasure though.
Seen those dudes at my local mall in the 6th grade lol they plaid a free show in the middle of the mall. Pretty sweet.
Written by the late Adam Schlesinger from fountains of Wayne
I will never understand why Crossfade had only one hit,it's a great song, they had so much potential.
Colors is a great song by them too
As an Australian, I can confirm Teenage Dirtbag was THE song of summer 2001!
Anathema Device it might not have been song of the summer, but i remember it was pretty damn huge in the UK too, i still hear it on the radio and at parties loads
@Knock Out I can indeed. It was Nice and Accurate!
Not gonna lie, the first time I heard Teenage Dirtbag, I thought it was by Weezer.
Lol the same here!! It has that weezer feel but let's be honest, the first three weezer albums are just the best
How?? Sounds NOTHING like weezer. With the singers voice how do you even confuse the two?
The names are similar to each other, both were very much part of that nerd rock subgenre, and really, the only thing that distinguishes them are the lead singers.
Wheatus was the Dollar Tree version of Weezer 😂😂😂
@@undergroundkingz7969 if you're not a huge Weezer fan it is easy to see why. I mean I love Weezer and I know it wasn't them but I've known so many people who thought it was Weezer so it is what it is and obviously a lot of people thought it was Weezer.
kills me to find out the the Darkness didn’t “make it” in America
They are so fantastic
They're still one of my favourite live bands too
We’ve heard much better imports.
@@justincoleman3805 bet you're a One Direction fanboy 🤣😂
@Rob Melrose Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest... those 4 all made it big in the US so much as to influence many thrash bands in the years after
Let’s stop and take a moment to appreciate the old “In the year 2000” Conan O’Brien clip occurring during the Wheatus section. Well done!
"Downfall" is a great song still today.
Straight - banger!
I actually work in the city where they originated, Prattville. Back in the day in the local scene they were known as "41 Down". I met a couple of them when I worked at Walmart back then. Cool dudes. I Still blast the song till this day.
@@daddydeesgourmetnuts5216 that's awesome
Wasn’t it on a Madden soundtrack too?
I remember their song "Surfacing" being on MLB 04
Funny note: Dallas Smith of Default has gone on to a VERY successful career as a country singer in Canada since Default broke up.
Still plays that song to this day too!
Crossfade, American Hi-Fi, Trust Company and The Darkness are all bands I consider myself a legitimate fan of since I've sought out material from them beyond their main hit. The Darkness will always be incredible, and Trust Company will always be a band I truly think deserved much better.
You bring up how the calling sounded like other bands, I thought "wherever you will go" was a lifehouse song.
it was that "sound" prolly cause a lot of rock bands in the 2000s had the same producers.
I remember madtv had a skit about how all of them sounded exactly the same........it was hysterical!
Holy shit he just talked about that madtv sketch🤣🤣🤣🤣 I hadn't even watched the whole video when I commented.......
You're not the only one! lol
It was in the movie Coyote Ugly before it hit. You see the band playing it in a very small bar
The first video i watched on this channel was the Crazy Town "Regretting the past". Everything has come (🎶my lady. Come come my lady.🎶) full circle.
P.S.: I'm very sorry. 😂
Regarding Crossfade, I prefer "Colors". Man, that was such an infectious song with that "Surely not the beeeeeest colors that you shiiiine" chorus.
I always saw them as a two-hit wonder. I'm surprised it wasn't an honorable mention in Crash's list.
Remember hearing it on tons of naruto AMVs from like 05-06
Crossfade's first album was fire period. They have like 7 fire songs.
That song brings back some fond memories for me. Simpler times.
First album i bought. I think like half the album was actually fucking great. Thier 2nd album wasnt so hot, but the 3rd made a comeback.
Will Sasso was truly the underrated gem of the 2000's rock scene.
GOD this list hits all the nostalgia for me. These were my high school and college years, and ALL I listened to was rock stations. I've expanded a bit since then, but I'm pretty sure I knew the words to all of these songs and sang them all while drunk at some point or another.
I have a cousin whose name is Stacy and she told me her classmates would always sing "Stacy's Mom" when her mom came to pick her up. She took it with good grace and my aunt thought it was hilarious.
Cold by crossfade is my favorite song of all time and definitely feels like a one-hit-wonder. But the album had 2 other strong songs in So Far Away and Colors. But I do enjoy their debut album and some later songs. Nice to see them getting recognized a bit again
Yeah dude so far away is such a good song one of my favorites!
Their debut album was excellent. It's one of those albums that I can listen to and enjoy all the way through.
I think Colors is a better song imo.
I was waiting for someone to mention so far away, was the song that got me to buy that album
That’s what I was thinking and already gone years later. I don’t really think crossfade is a one hit wonder just my opinion
Fun fact: Wheatus is solely responsible for me becoming a fan of Iron Maiden. "Teenage Dirtbag" got so much radio play I had to find out who the hell this band was that they kept name-dropping. Maiden quickly became one of my favorite bands of all time. Up the irons!
jliller I’m sure that’s the case with a lot of people.
Awesome sauce.
The drummer of The Darkness is Roger Taylor’s (Queen) son. I believe he also now plays for Queen (when Roger is singing rather than drumming).
crossfade's cold came out in march 2004.
you know what else came out that same month? breaking benjamin's so cold.
i can only imagine they inadvertently fed off each others' success in some way.
Both amazing songs tho
& ‘cold’ and ‘break’ were literally THE two buzz-words of 2000’s Rock music.
@@kingexclusivo 'So Cold' by Breaking Benjamin is easily the better song.
Well Post-Grunge was the next big thing during the late 90s, early-mid 2000s so it's not surprising.
@@Wrathchild1995 thats debatable because they are both great songs.
Crossfades whole self titled album was good.
Jay Michael agreed
It was ridiculously good
Their latest album "We All Bleed" is also a great album. Definitely a hidden gem of an album.
@@absolutebob8212 Dead Memories and Lay Me Down... true bangers.
Jay Michael facts tho
I remember downloading teenage dirtbag on LimeWire when I was 13 and it being listed as Weezer. I was 23 when I found out it was not Weezer
I appreciate you bringing up crossfade and not shit talking them. They are insultingly underrated. Amazing band
I love how Headstrong wasn’t on the list lol
even though it could take on anyone
This channel is not where they belong!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
They're not one hit wonders though. "Last Resort" was a pretty big hit too.
Because if it did, then people watching the video would click off instantly. Trapt sucks!
@@DairyKing404 I think you're thinking of Papa Roach, Trapt is Headstrong.
Flobots album was pretty great. Definitely worth a listen.
I don't know if they would count for Rock, but "All The Things She Said" by TaTu is another prime example of a group that (in the US) had 1 Top 40 song.
Still in my head after I discovered it eons ago while playing a skateboarding video game
The lesbian Russian
Well TaTu were more in Pop weren't they? That said, "All the Things She Said" seemed to be more rock-oriented and yeah, it's a great song even though I liked "Not Gonna Get Us" more lol.
If someone were to tell me of a band that I thought were “under - appreciated”, TRUSTCompany would be at the top of my picks. When I first heard “Downfall” back in Fall 2016, I immediately got hooked on it. It’s been my favorite ever since. “Downfall” led me to check out The Lonely Position of Neutral. I can describe the album in a few words: UNDERRATED. NU METAL. CLASSIC! One of the first albums I love from front to back. An album that I’ve heard that has no bad tracks! True Parallels and Dreaming in Black and White are cool gems, as well! This was the band that was the starting point to my dive into the underground nu metal scene.
Everything they’ve done (to me) is so damn solid.
Ha! I was my 1st ringtone when ringtones came out..... crap I'm old! Lol
My friend burned me a CD freshmen year and I loved it so much
So hooked on them when I saw their video on mtv. First concert I ever went to. Still jam to that album.
I’m so glad you still don’t mind Cold. I love that song to this day and it seems like some people look back at it with cringe.
Also Downfall will forever hold up🤍
And I still like Wasting My Time. However nothing else they had really grabbed me.
OMG YOU FORGOT BOTTOM OF A BOTTLE 😶😶
🎶 I never really wanted you to see the screwed up side of me that I keep
Locked inside me so deep...
Bottom of a Bottle is great! It's on my list of personal one-hit wonders... there were a few good songs on Smile Empty Soul's album. Silhouettes, This is War and I Want My Life are also my faves. Sean Danielson has an amazing voice.
Molly Cyrus I always loved Nowhere Kids too and they had a song later on called Don’t leave me that was dope.
Living in Ireland, there's always half the bands on these lists I've never heard of. Crazytown is unfortunately one I remember.
"Drowning Pool - Bodies" went totally over your head.. the ammount of plays that track has on Spotify is insane!
They also played it on X2 during Fright Fest when I went!
Drowning pool was getting big before the lead singer died...I saw them way back in 2001 at ozzfest..they started a sod war..it was fucking awesome
@@ryanm4604 my man they even performed for WWE.. they were hella big back then.
@@dasdaza i dont think any other of their songs charted. I love metalcore so I dont know what youre on about.
1999?
You're telling me that "Whereever You Will go"-song isn't by Creed?
You are confusing it with "With Arms Wide Open" by Creed. These songs were popular around the same time.
@@elena79rus no I'm not. I just assumed it was the same band.
That's how you know a band is a copycat.
I listened to Default’s “Wasting My Time” on and off through my highschool... coincidence? Hahaha
The Energy by Audiovent (thanks Disney's Extreme Skating). Their singer was also Brandon Boyd from Incubus's brother.
I actually had their CD
Flobots is a really good band. Not mainstream worthy, but still worthy of a listen.
Yeah I really enjoyed their most recent album. Buried Alive is a great song
BROOOOOO!!!! Handlebars is STILL on my Desert Island disk! Same with "I Believe In a Thing Called Love!"
Holy shit that's another oddball tune I haven't heard in AGES
Crossfade’s debut album was so good, I can’t believe they didn’t have more staying power
I still have “Downfall” on my playlist
“Wasting my time” was one of the first songs I ever put on an iPod 😂
“I believe in a thing called love” is a gem of a song, so many drunken college parties spent belting it out and trying to hit that high note, I also love their song “One Way Ticket to Hell”
Also, what about “Superman” by 5 for Fighting
That los lonely boys song with Rob Thomas???
1985 bowling for soup???
Diamonds and Guns by the transplants
Check yes, Juliet by We the Kings??? I couldn’t get away from that song
Agree on Crossfade, they were more like a one album wonder. Colors and So Far Away were also really good on that album
I’m so glad that you’ve made it so that more of the song is audible when you’re talking about it.
Great change :)
Thank you so much for giving TRUST Company some recognition. The Lonely Position of Neutral was 🔥
0:39: "Everytime I post one of these i get at least a dozen comments about the order. There is no ranking."
0:53: "You guys know how these work, lats get into it"
DO WE OR DO WE NOT KNOW HOW THESE WORK?! CONFUSION CONTINUES!
“Wherever You Will Go” is apparently about the death of one half of an elderly couple. So. . . I think the other half is saying they’ll go to heaven or hell for them. Romantic in a very morbid and depressing way.
Pretty dark for a song you always hear on store overheads lol.
I thought it was about a teenage girlfriend changing towns
I'm gonna be honest, I have a soft spot for Drowning Pool's "Bodies". That would have been on my list, but yeah, I'm more surprised there were some songs I never heard of on this one.
Fair. I have listened to much more of Drowning Pool than most, but "Bodies" really does stick out as their best work. Maybe "Sinner" charted highly enough to knock them off the list.
Drowning Pool had multiple songs chart, along with Bodies, they had 37 Stitches, Sinner, Tear Away, and Step Up do well.
They had quite a few 'hits', is why.
I would have put Red Jumpsuit Apparatus on the list. “Facedown” was an awesome song.
I hesitate to call them a one hit wonder, though
What about False Pretense and Guardian Angel? Those songs were pretty huge
Definitely not a one hit wonder
Maybe, but I only remember "Facedown". I think it's valid to include them just mention the other songs.
I predicted this would be on there, just a little disappointed, very happy about crossfafe though
Wow. I thought I was tuning out contemporary music from about 2008-9 forward, but the only song I heard on this list was Stacy's Mom, and that is because my then-wife thought it was great and called me to listen to it on the radio. She liked that Sex and Candy song too and sometimes it got her going. This puts me back to about 2001-2, or about the time I was 29. Man, I feel old; I think I'm gonna go listen to some Skynyrd.
Honestly, I got very nervous when I heard the intro lyrics to Handlebars. I'm very glad that you gave Flobots the respect that I personally think they deserve. I have been a steadfast fan of theirs since 2008 and I hope that more people check out the rest of their catalogue because of what you said in this video.
Love your videos! Thank you for covering rock music, grew up to these songs!
I can only imagine how much harder this was
How about “Caught in the Rain” by Revis? That entire album was mint but they were only well known by that track
Thought Seven was a hit. Either way great mention. I had forgotten totally about these guys and just listened to a few songs. Thanks!
@@jaybird455 seven only reached 29 on the mainstream rock charts so it probably wouldn’t be considered a hit in the same sense.
My favorite thing about these videos is seeing people in the comments section talking about how *insert name of not good band here* was actually very good and actually should have had multiple hits.
I'd like to thank you for this list. I have looked at so many one hit wonder lists of 2000s rock trying to find this song by default. I have wanted to add it to my own Spotify Playlist but I could only remember what the video looked like, that I really liked it in the early 2000s, but could never remember the name of the band or song. Thank you again.
“Drowning” and “Change” should’ve been hits for Crazy Town, following “Butterfly”. People know them for “Butterfly”, but I think the first two songs that I mentioned are better.
If there was another band from the ‘00s that should be on this list is The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. They got huge off of “Face Down” (and it’s no question why. The song’s a straight banger.), but they couldn’t seem to get their subsequent singles/albums to match the immense success of the aforementioned single.
I always thought butterfly sounded like an r&b song. Clearly I’m in the minority.
@@Christanstonir Yup, same. I was actually big into nu-metal during that time period so when I heard them I immediately wrote them off as R&B (or something like it) and never even knew just how nu-metal they looked until I saw that Regretting the Past video of his a few months back :P
I honestly think if Toxic would have been released after Butterfly, it would have been another big hit for them.
Drowning is amazing better then butterfly
Black clouds was my favourite from Gift of Game
Seeing Stacy's Mom at the end of the list got me a little choked up.
Stacy’s Mom isn’t just the definitive one hit wonder song in 2000s rock, it’s the definitive one hit wonder song of the century, that song and especially its music video defined the millennial generation, also for
American Hi Fi, The Art Of Losing should’ve been a hit because it just flat out slaps, sucks that it didn’t take off despite being featured in American Pie, Freaky Friday, and Malcom In The Middle
Stacy's Mom has indeed STILL got it going on.
On the whole, I like Art of Losing as an album way more too.
Stacy's Mom is one of the worst songs I've heard in my life.
Everytime I hear it, I want to destroy things.
The music is obnoxious and the lyrics are disgusting.
Defined the millennial generation? Yeesh speak for yourself. Oh yeah and considering this channel gets stuck on really shitty band names like "Hoobastank", "Fountains of Wayne" should be right up there too, come on.
Stacy’s Mom is about a guy who wants to sleep with a classmate’s mother. It did not define a generation, as a generation is everyone in that age group.
Thoughts for future 2K one hit wonders:
1. Finger Eleven - Paralyzer/One Thing. Is there a such thing as a two hit wonder?
1. Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal. While a cover song of an absolute legend, enough was changed to make it worthy of some notice IMO without disgracing the original
WahDizzy ah man, Finger Eleven had some great earlier albums that were much better than Paralyzer and One Thing song wise. Funny thing too is they also had a horrid band name before Finger Eleven. Rainbow Butt Monkeys.
Alien Ant Farm had quite a few popular songs including Movies
I refuse to think that Finger Eleven's "Good times" didn't have success. That song is fucking fantastic!
@UCZdi5EDUJJ0bzxkwe4L4S6A agreed. I'm Canadian, just like the group, and I saw their growth through those first three albums (the third containing Good Times and One Thing). both of those songs were great, but Good Times is an absolute blast from start to finish!
then came Paralyzer... good God fucking shoot me I can't stand that wannabe-Franz-Ferdinand-but-the-band-claims-was-actually-inspired-by-Another-Brick-In-The-Wall piece of shit! I stopped listening to them after that, but my brother bought that album and said it was really good... but even he didn't like Paralyzer.
Friend, rarely do I disagree with you. One of my favorite channels, right here. Keep up the great work. And thank you.
Trust Company has to be one of the most underrated alt rock/metal bands ever. Great albums and great songs and their style is so different. I rock all 3 albums!
I think we've all come to the conclusion The Darkness will never get their due credit.
They weren't a one-hit wonder.
In the Us, yes. But the rest of the world, especially their home country, they would very much disagree
Splender-I think God can explain
Blessed Union of Souls- she likes me for me
Tal Bachman-She's so high above me
Puddle of Mudd- She hates me
Puddle of Mudd had Blurry
Puddle of Mudd had like, 10 songs that charted bruh lol
@@ChefClap
Don’t forget about “Control”
Oleander - Why.
Smile Empty Soul - Bottom Of A Bottle.
Fun Fact... Met the singer of Crossfade at Memphis in May back in 2006... Dudes huge 😂
MY TOP 5 ROCK ONE HIT WONDERS OF 2000s THAT DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THIS LIST
5. SR-71- RIGHT NOW
4. SMILE EMPTY SOUL-BOTTOM OF THE BOTTLE
3. X-Ecutioners-IT'S GOING DOWN
2. 3rd Strike-NO LIGHT
1. AUTHORITY ZERO-ONE MORE MINUTE
Broooo RIGHT NOW 🤍🤍🤍
SR-71!
Authority Zero, nice 😎
Are X-Ecutioners considered rock? Wikipedia says they’re a trio of DJs/Turntablists, which is hip-hop.
The X-ecutioners track had Linkin Park involved & it was also kind of trendy for rock bands in the early 2000’s to feature a turntable, so yeah I’d say they fit 👍.
I would like to see do a list called “The Ten One Hit Wonders...That Deserved Better”. And when I mean better, I mean either Deserve More Recognition. Or Deserve to be known for more than One song”.
Cruizer Brony LOCAL H!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
Kyle Hegedus which did they deserve more of?
Cruizer Brony Both recognition, and to be known for more than One Song.
@@kylehegedus5498 Exactly who I was thinking of when I read the original comment. Yeah, damn well they deserved better. They've released quality album after quality album. I wouldn't personally rank any of their 9 albums below a 7/10, and when you remove their first album from that mix the lowest I'd even consider ranking any of the other 8 would be an 8/10. They are just a great band.
I'd argue Stroke 9 probably deserved better as well. They're not Local H good, but still put out 4 strong albums.
check out the channel Todd in the Shadows' one hit wonders series. dude goes pretty in-depth on the history behind individual songs (which is pretty impressive of itself), and specifically has a blurb for each on whether he feels they deserved more.
Check out "Caught in the Rain" by Revis. That was their only hit before breaking up a year or so after it came out. They're a very post-grunge sounding band, but their one and only album, Places for Breathing, released in 2003, is one of my favorites.
I freaking love (d) that album
"Until the day i die" Story Of The Year, their whole entire Page Avenue album is a banger tho.
Still love the darkness 🇬🇧saw them live a couple of years back and how Justin Hawkins sings on the albums is EXACTLY how he sings live all of those high notes are just as amazing. Such a fun band 🤘🏼
I would argue that Default is a two-hit wonder thanks to Deny
Did anything ever come of "Taking My Life Away", "Throw It All Away", or "Count On Me"? (the first two of those were off their 2nd album, and the other one off their 3rd)
Deny is fantastic. NHL 2003 memories!
I've done it at karaoke and it usually goes over well
@@mikeezekiel8998 Oh yeah man. That game defined so much of my tastes in my early years of being a fan of rock and metal.
Ryan Ahr Same! Sweetness, No One Knows, Deny and Hundred Million are mainstays on my playlists, as are many of the early game soundtracks
Thanks for showing love to TRUST Company
A Couple of bands come to mind regarding one hit wonders in the 2000’s. Now sales numbers are key, like you said And I don’t know the numbers exactly but here’s A few that came to mind not on the list.
Cold- year of the spider album with “stupid girl”.
Submersed- in due time album with “hollow”
RA- from one album with “do you call my name”
And Trapt- with “head strong”.
Great vid, hit all the nostalgia points for me 🤘🏼
I loved Ra-Rectifier
gitsiemonster dudes got pipes, I love “sky”, great song.
I always forget Wheatus are US one hit wonders, as in my native UK they actually had another hit, a cover of Erasure’s “A Little Respect”. Weird as theyre American, but were bigger here....
They are big in Japan ,
@@dansmith935 yeah i think ive heard that somewhere before. Dont know what made them catch on there and not everywhere else.
SR71 - She may not be Miss Right she'll do right now!
Bowling for Soup's 1985 is a cover
It’s just called Right Now
banger
Your tone has gotten more lighthearted. I’m digging it.
I think my mind blocked out The Calling, and you made me remember Trust Company, such a good band.
You don't know how happy I was that someone finally mentioned TRUSTcompany. One of the few bands that don't have a bad song on any of their albums.
Three Days Grace is one of them, also Taking Back Sunday
That is still one of my favorite songs and I still listen to it all the time.
Fountains of Wayne also wrote the song "That Thing You Do" for the movie "That Thing You Do".
Now you gotta do 2010’s! Appreciate the content man!
Glad to see you mentioning TRUSTCompany, the TLPON album is certainly one of my all time favorites!
Ahhh Wheatus. Seen them in concert three times (once as a support act). They have a really great catalogue of songs, I love the album ‘Hand Over Your Loved Ones.’ Shoulda been bigger 🤣
Adam Schlesigner also produced Man It's So Loud In Here, one of my favorite They Might Be Giants tracks. I really owe that guy...
When I was younger until I saw the music video for "Wherever you will go" I genuinely thought it was Creed.
Also wow this was one hell of a nostalgia trip, some not so good nostalgia but still nostalgic.
The Darkness had a no2 with "don't let the bells end", but its still fair there on here
I think this is more from a US perspective, where 'Thing Called Love' is their only hit. Same goes for Wheatus who also had another no3 hit in the UK, but none in the US
“Don’t let the Bells End” is a Christmas classic.
Hearing “Downfall” dragged me back to middle school when I first heard it getting ready in the morning. ... Time moves way too fast
The Ataris’ cover of “The Boys of Summer”
One of those cover songs where you can legitimately argue was better than the original. (in my opinion it was)
Brad Casalinuovo having grown up with the original, I have to respectfully disagree. I do like The Ataris' version. The original just takes me back to my childhood in a better way. Damn, I'm old!😄
I grew up with both. But for some reason The Ataris version just hits better for me.
Not even close.
I disagree.
The Ataris' cover is very good though, it's a no nonsense cover, they don't add anything to it,bit they don't take away from it at all, and the vocals are bang on.
However the cover is missing the guitar work
This conversation was close to sounding like Billy Madison.
Mortal Kombat on the Sega Genesis is the best video game ever.
I disagree, it's a very good game but I think Donkey Kong is the best game ever.
Donkey Kong sucks!
You know something? You suck!
Fountains of Wayne deserved some success after lurking in the underground for so long. They were on the verge of breaking up, but "Stacy's Mom" saved them. I saw them live a year-and-a-half before the song was released at a small venue in Cleveland. The show was less than half sold and a pre-fame OK Go opened for them in 2002. The band seemed so distraught and joked about calling it quits. I'm glad they didn't. RIP Adam Schlesinger.
Idc “Cold” by Crossfade is a certified banger and I’ll defend it until my dying breath
American Hi-Fi were so good. The album had loads of great songs on it, really should have been bigger than they were.
100% agree. They had a whoooooole bunch of good stuff on that album. I think Flavor is still a really good song. It might be “four chord pop punk”, but the melodies, lyrics, and general dynamics of the song are all really, really good.
@@nicholaspalacio9672 Agreed. Still love that song.
Expecting Butterfly by Crazy town
Ok not disappointed.
I just think about the movie Orange County
John and flea: creating one of the most interest instrumentals
Crazy town: blah blah sugar butterfly
Gotta say thanks for your videos in general. I'm getting exposure to a lot of US groups that, living in Australia, I don't necessarily bump heads with, and a bunch of them are now in my playlists. In this case, maybe half of these bands just didn't make a splash down here, and it's great to be exposed to them.
The Darkness are still one of the best live bands I've seen! Justin Hawkins is a fantastic front man.
Man, Trust Company on Disneys Extreme Skateboarder. Legit the best lmao
That’s how I discovered them and Audiovent. It also had Reel Big Fish on the soundtrack lol.
Take It All from the Xbox game Breakdown introduced me to TRUST Company
I will always know them for "Stronger". I cannot for love or money remember which video game soundtrack I heard them on but I go back to that song a lot.
New to your channel. Love the work. New subscriber here. Keep it up!
Would love to see a video on great fun bands with that can be considered hidden gems thst are forgotten or never had #1 hits but are fun to hear like Bowling for Soup or Everclear. Through the 90s and 2000s there were some that had some mainstream success but have a bigger following for their music that didn't hit the charts.
These top ten are fun, and I really enjoy the content! 👍😁
Damn... I really miss Crossfade :'(
I really hope they make another album!
I still have nothing but respect for Crossfade. I just wish they had more material.
I wish he would've mentioned HOW The Calling got their big break. The movie Coyote Ugly was looking for a bar band to play in one of the scenes. The Calling auditioned for it, and boom.
R.I.P. Adam Schlesinger 😢
Headstrong Imma Take You On
I am glad you mentioned Trust Company I checked them out when hearing "Downfall". What hidden jems they have especially "The war is over". Kevin Palmer sother band Amity Lane is worth a check too
I think Wherever You Will Go is still so loved cause even though a lot of those bands and songs sounded really similar that track and his vocal are a little notch above. It's just a great song.
Thank you so much for this video. It reminded me about trust company. I love downfall and completely forgot about it
