- I found this 1982 Collector's Edition Corvette 200 miles away and purchased it. Will it make it home for some light restoration and refurbishing of the interior, brakes, engine, and more?

A Jag, two vettes, a GTO, A Gran Sport Torino, and a King Croba Mustang damn Dalton you’re living that high life 😂 At least on paper
I, agree!
Living life like he won the Lotto in 1984!
And he is not 60 and bald…..it’s a win win
high...ly sketchy
Well I know , but technically Dalton have two Jaaags ... xD
The visor slap counter got me.
Same 😂
I died laughing
Same....lol
*smack 14*
“There we go………………no………………………you son of a bit-“
The visor slap reminded me of me in my fox body. I was looking forward to the Dalton fix on that guy
GM 1982,we’ve spent millions and have the best engineers designing the power train on these cars making them the most efficient and powerful option you can get. Forty two years later PBG,yeah we’re just going to cut all that crap away and throw a carburetor on it and it’ll run better! This is why PBG is climbing the ladder of success and are some of the best and informative videos out there. Keep up the good work Dalton.
Absolutley!
The stock power assist steering in these are absolute garbage as well.
Here's where Dalton gets pulled over and has to explain the mannequin head😂
"I'm Dalton from Pole Barn Gara-."
"Move along sir."
For a minute there I thought it was the hood ornament off the LTD.
He could say that he cannot get a real girlfriend so he made one😅
HOV lane justification or “officer , that’s my late wife, I had her silver plated instead of cremated”
@@RustyZipper hes Dalton he knows his way around a rattle can
Man! You're gonna be the coolest cat at the tony bahama New balance convention 😂 very sweet ride 👍
Don't forget Tommy Hilfiger...
Niceee👌🏻 very true
😂
Make sure to put the Drakkar on nice and think before pulling up
Damn your wife must be cool as hell ...I been talking about buying a project car and all my wife does is bitch about me wanting to buy one
I can't wait for JD to get his license and start being your "dd" aka your drop off driver for these revivals.
License? We don't need no stinkin' license.. .we don't have to show you aby stonkin' license!!
JD and Jess make a good team and they can swap off on the driving and filming duties.
@@That70sChannel fr we don't need no fancy peice of cardboard
I was literally just thinking this😂
Margarets' neck game is on point.
A modern day Nancy Reagan. A true throat goat.
But why does she sound like Cartman?
49:00 the way us techs adjusted the tv cables at the gm dealership was to depress the button, pull the cable all the way back, release the button. Open the throttle all the way, the cable will automatically adjust out to the correct amount.
Yeah I thought it was odd that he was holding it down
Kinda just felt like it would break if I did that
@@PoleBarnGarageIt’s a 700R4 sir. Breaking is the price of admission with one.
Well done 👍
Understandable, we are dealing with 30+ year old plastics now
I give you lots of credit for creating videos for us to enjoy. Working a full time time job, family life, etc. Its not easy to make videos when life goes on. Thanks Dalton for what you do!
JD is wise beyond his years. "Maybe it just does". Sage advice my friend.
My dad (who passed in 92) would have loved this channel as much as I do
Yay. Too late to watch but im gonna have something great to watch before work tomorrow
Smart to drive the NICE old car to pickup the new NICE old car. Gives the seller a little more comfort in knowing that you take care of NICE old cars.
People love the early 60's vettes or the newer vettes. I'm in your camp, I have ALWAYS loved the C3 vettes. The only thing that sucks about them is they are always just out of reach for me financially. Every time I get to where I can afford them, I start looking and the prices have gone up.
I have a feeling that's gonna be pretty much how my whole life is gonna go for everything I'm interested in, being a 25 year old living in the modern economy
@@Billothy69 It's gotten to the point where "modern" is like a cuss word to me now.
How you know its gonna be a good video. The sun visor smack counter.
My grandad collected corvettes and he had an identical 82 still in the wrapper with only 248 miles on the odometer. Unfortunately after he passed all his cars went to auction in 2003-ish but the car was basically brand new still. He had a couple different years that pretty much just went from the dealer to storage, seemed like a bit of a shame not to drive them but he just liked to look at them. 🤷♂️
I've just got to acknowledge that this "high dollar resto" is as intersting as the old holy goat series. Keep on doing what ever you'd like to.
And secondly but not of lesser importance, youve got a wonderful woman "wingmaning" you in ever instance. I hope youre happy together.😊 And your son has become an awesome cameraman! Kudos to everyone involved. Love from sweden!❤
What a beauty, it is nice to hear a good small block chevy purr with a carb up top. Enjoy the heck out of her, and remember to wear out the tires laying rubber when possible. Have a blast!
You can tell that the previous owner was really proud of it.
I'm a sucker for red on black stingray's. But this one is special for sure. That champagne color is great. Especially if you live on dusty roads. The interior with the 5 tone door panels! Good purchase there!
This is hands down, the nicest car you've had on the channel. Congratulations, Sir.
J.D. is quick with the "yeah" a bunch. Makes me chuckle every time. 😂
Heck ya dalton ive been waiting for this video since you first purchased it and posted pictures on Facebook!
I actually detailed one of those when I worked at a gm dealership, the color is exclusive to that car along with the rims and the interior door panels I think are exclusive too with the brown in them, there cool cars it was funny the mechanic in the shop didn't like the cross fire either 😅 I have a 69 Chrysler Newport custom myself, I always enjoy your videos Dalton you and Jess and JD show what passion over money can get you if your just willing to learn and work, money helps too though😂
You really needed to do a huge Burnout by the Ole Hags house who treated to call the Law on you lol. 😂
You need to get the Holly TV cable geometry corrector bracket that bolts to the throttle arm on the carb. Without it the TV cable doesn’t move in an exact 1 to 1 relationship with the throttle. Causes all kinds of issues. The throttle arm out of the box is designed for a 3 speed kickdown cable. With those all that matters is the cable is completely pulled out at full throttle.
If you look up the 5 speed you'll see Tremec has discontinued the TKO. It's been replaced with the new TKX. Good news is that it's an improvement in every way, bad news is that the trans itself goes for about $2900, not counting clutch stuff. Still worth it though, would be awesome in that Vette!
Sweet car though, I don't think I've ever seen one of those collectors editions. Looks to be in fantastic shape!
That box that was with lug nuts looked like an old fuzz buster " it's the fuzz I better slow down" lol
love the show, its awesome when you have your boy working with you
Oh man you got the only Vette I've ever truly wanted.
Lucky man. Good luck with it.
The only Vette i ever wanted was the 1983, VIN 1G1AY0783D5110023. I think it might be a little out of my price range though.
What a great find. I think I would keep this one. Your right there's nothing quite like driving a Vette.
I expect to see Margaret in all future videos. She's a rising star!
Absolutely 👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺👌👌
Hell, I thought it was the T1000 from terminator 2
Ya mean like Steve Magneato's stupid plastic dog?
Her dress sense needs some attention.
@@JeffKopis LockJaw is not plastic!! He is real to me damnit,,,,lol
Congratulations Dalton! I can see how excited you are. Gonna be a sweet ride when its all said and done.
57:02 Part of why I love carbs! Simplicity is lovely.
The Margaret thing saying yeah shut up, 😅was so hilarious 😅
Loved that custom visor, it knows when to block your view lol. Say just an old trick I used to get brake lines broke loose, has never failed me yet. Clamp a Vise Grip onto the line nut, make sure your have enough room to do this, then take your palm and give the Vise grip a sharp smack, this will break that nut loose 95% of the time, try it. I own line wrenches and am a retired mechanic of many years, rarely used my line wrenches to break lines loose, always used the Vise grip and never have broke a line or rounded off a nut. But always spray them first with a good penetrant first, which I seen you do anyway. If you try to remove those lines with a wrench or even a line wrench it will almost always fail and break, strip, or twist that line and you will be cursing up a storm lol. great videos btw, always entertaining.
That coat hanger advice is 100% golden oldschoolin....
GTSOT...lol
One sweet Ride you found. We can tell how much you like a car based on how much you spray paint it.
With the new carburetor and fuel pump, you definitely woke that Engine Up.
Nice car
Slowly becoming my favorite channel…
Slowly?! C'mon now, giddiup
Already my favorite channel along side jyd
That is one gorgeous Vette!
(You and Margret arguing reminded me of Harry Mudd and Stella!!)
This is the best channel on the internet. Hands down my favorite!
Best hour and 8 minutes I have spent all week! Thank you for great entertainment. Looks like you covered all the base's on this one. Yep,, you are living the automotive collector's dream on a budget for sure!
Congrats on the vett purchase dalton.👍
Clark! It has the CB radio and optional rally fun pack! Too bad it’s not Antarctic blue….
Put a jaguar logo on it.
1982 corvettes are quite the enigma. The last of the C3 generation, Which started strong, but the fuel crisis killed the power ratings. The C4 was such a needed redesign there is no 1983 model Vette. When it was brand new that crossfire 350 had maybe 200hp. The early EFI was garbage sure, but it was the test bed that helped the LS become what it is today. I do wanna see if you can turn that thing into a dual carb setup like you mentioned in the blazer/c3 episode. Side note, I half expected JD to just drive the LTD back. Then I saw jess and it made more sense. Only a couple more years till that license
Nice to see you treating yourself to something nice man. Car looks good!
This was my Uncle Bob’s car!!! I know he would be so happy that you bought it and are giving it a new life. :)
First shot of the car at the very start of this episode. What a gorgeous car/color combo. I remember seeing very few of them in Canada in 82/83, but one of my teachers at Junior High had one. I pestered him for months for a ride. It would not happen now, but he relented and took me for a decent run. We went to Brandon from home (Winnipeg). It was done with my parent's knowledge, but I would bet that even with permission in writing, in triplicate, kids could not get a ride in a teacher's cool car today.
It is weird, but I vividly remember walking over to it and pressing the handle to get in, just seeing that shot. Then, I saw how low I sat and how high the dashboard was, and those fenders were sitting proudly up front. There were quite a few jealous schoolfriends who were not cheeky enough to ask first. Yours is identical in every way to the one I rode in, but the seats appear different. Heck, it might even be the same one. I doubt it very much, though.
Not many people would pick up on a loose alternator before driving away.
JD is one lucky assed kid to have a Dad like you. My Dad was/is a car guy, but not to the same extent as you, Dalton. I was surprised he chose not to ride back with you in the 'Vette.
7:19. Just look at it. Are you looking at it? Beautiful.
Damn right, there is nothing like it. The only car I can think of that is even remotely Corvette 'like' is a Bricklin, which is pushing it.
It is excellent that you are doing this correctly. It is a keeper and worth maintaining. I doubt one single self-tapper will be used. 🙂
Deja-vu. I am sure I have seen you sit in the house putting those seat covers on already. $50 for some dye? Frick. You would also need more than one, as they will probably be small cans.
I spoke too soon. Drywall screw and a self-tapper, lol. Both are perfectly justified.
JD is getting his hands dirty again with intake crap removal. More learnin' for his brain to absorb.
It looks like some suspension bushes need some loving.
OMG, you have a working fuel gauge!
It is a fantastic car. It has replaced the Thunderbird as my favorite car in your fleet. I am so envious. I'd give both my kidneys for that thing.
Yet another superb upload from you, even though it is a different sort of MO.
Neil :-)
He probably would have let his son come along in the car but not with those sketchy brakes over a long distance.
Good point, well made.
I did not think of that because of some of the sketchy cars they have been in, but they were not over a long distance on freeways etc.
Good to see you back in a car you love !
Yes Timkin has always been a very good Quality bearings I've used them for at least twenty years.
A mate of my Dad's in Ireland has/had a '72 Stingray. 454, 4 speed manual. I drove it in 1993, and he still had it about 5 years ago. Last time I saw it, it had 57,000 miles on it.
I'm tempted to see if he'd sell it, if indeed he still owns it.
Oh man Dalton finding that locking lug nut in the glove box is probably one of the greatest reliefs in life.. Like seriously almost as good as finding out, well.. it's a very good feeling!
I don't comment often, but I just found you thanks to a random youtube recommendation. I just have to say I love it when people who normally work on carbed vehicles take the plunge and work on fuel injected ones every so often without just throwing a carb on it and calling it a day, but understand it's easier and more practical. These deserve some TLC too even if they can be a bit more of a pain to work on. I'm sure you, junkyard digs, vice grip garage and Mortske repair have helped quite a few people find the motivation to revive an old car. Those are just the ones that I can think of off the top of my head.
I myself have a 72 Mercury that I'm slowly getting parts for. Hope to have it on the road this summer.
Thank you for what you do and involving your family. You guys are a great motivation to the rest of us. It's certainly a welcome departure from the days of Davidsfarm....if anyone even remembers that.
Picking up a 72 Mercury Saturday!
Brother l love that style of Vet really Happy for You on your New Vet You definitely deserve it you are a very hard worker and you definitely will turn it into an Awesome Vet.
I love the C3s as well. One is on my short list...one with a carb, LOL. Did you happen to go show that nice lady down the road your new car? What a sweetie she was....
Those wheels look awesome on that car!
I got me some merch a few weeks back got a official PBG sticker and the shirt that looks like the PBR logo hope some money goes for the new shop. Can't wait for more new content dude thanks for all the enjoyment
Dalton I don't know how you did it or what rabbit foot you keep in your back pocket but that girl of yours is truly one of a kind and special. You're a lucky man and you have a beautiful family. Great video as always my friend take care
20 years from now JD is gonna be the guy that everyone goes to for advice on old motors, every week he spends doing this with you is the equivalent of a year in college 🤣👍🏻
Couldn't agree more.
Man Dalton, you really need to come up with a self-tapping screw meme and make T-shirts. Think I laughed as hard at the fender self rapper as the entire van you built with them LMAO
Margaret is a hoot! I’m glad you got some head with your new Corvette.
Now you need a "Shut up, Margaret" T shirt 😂
"Nothing ever goes right." I'd say that was a win Dalton. That Corvette is a winner. Hope to see more episodes on it. Nice work.
Thanks for your time 😊
Thanks!
4 pots on all 4 corners is pretty impressive for 1981
4 piston calipers on all 4 were used since 1966 Vette, same brakes
Yay. Too late to watch but im gonna have something great to watch before work tomorrow!
Heck yeah
@@PoleBarnGarageyou mean no self tappers!!!?
Oh no!!!!!!!!!
Grips my Holley sniper EFI unit tightly
I replaced the seats and carpets on my 81. I wanted to do the door panels but couldn't swallow the $500 a piece price tag. Someday I'll do them. I did however change my seat foam. Glad you got another C3. They really are a strange addiction.
Man that's a beautiful vette....I've always wanted an 81....the date you showed on the seat pan is a couple months after I was born.....damn I feel old now lol 😆
Love that you got one of your dream cars and splurged to get seat covers and door panels. Enjoy it. Was awesome to see how even after all that, the Pole Barn Garage authenticity came through and shot drywall screws in a $425 door panel. Appreciate all you, JD, Jess, Mom, Dad, and Cody (and friends) do for the channel.
Every Friday I look forward to these so much!! Thank you!!!
Dalton that is one beautiful Vette. I can see why you saved up for it. Very Nice!
Awesome find and purchase!
Fantastic video. I enjoyed this one very much!
Love the Vette. Congratulations. Enjoy!!
Great video, corvette came out real nice, sounds great too. You are teaching JD well!
JD is a pretty good camera guy!
Thanks for the video and you've got the best sidekick ever good job J.D. 👍🇺🇸
one thing i found out doing my 83 caddy. I put a 305 SBC in it to replace that crap 4.1l i went carb and HEI just like you did here but i still am running the stock TBI fuel pump in the tank. Neat fact here! If you just put a T fitting and run the line to the return you build a constant 3-4 PSI naturally with zero fuel regulator required. since the return line is smaller then the feed line it has juuuuust enough volume to run a carb with no regulator. been like that for 3 years no with zero issues.
the more you know!
Good to see you’ve bought yourself something that doesn’t belong in a Mad Max film 😂
Another excellent PBG production 👍🏼🇬🇧
Keep rockin Dalton!
I absolutely love Corvettes. Well done! It's a beauty!
Love to hear the spring peepers in the background. Spring is in the air!
I enjoyed watching, thanks for the video!!
Congratulations, Dalton. I'm glad to see you treating yourself the way you deserve to be treated. Great car.
Love the interior!!!
Cool to see JDs confidence getting better and better! Your a great dad from what I can see. Love the channel keep em coming!
Thanks for another , Brother !
Beautiful find!!
Pro tip that i use anyway. Usin heavy grease like for axles to hold gaskets and seals in place. Helps it keep fuilds in too
PBG and some PBR!
Cheers man!
Awesome lookin C3 Mr. Dalton!....Cool paint scheme and those Kelsey Hayes turbines are TIGHT!........glad it tuned up with the new carb & intake....I'm sure you'll be able to get that trans to act right sooner or or later....keep on keepin on !
Ah the really fun time of a break job on a c3 corvette, especially the drilling out the rotors for the hubs. I’ve done a few and definitely don’t miss working on them, the fun part is getting the brass junction blocks for the brake lines and hoping they don’t break.
Yes! Those are horrible
Thanks for the video. Nice Vette.
That thing is actually in pretty nice shape. Glad you got yourself a decent one to start with. Last vette I had was a total basket case and needed 2 of everything.
It was obvious kept out of the winter salt as much as possible.
It looks good Dalton you deserve this!
Congrats on the new Vette!
Your vids are the only thing I look forward to every week
really cool to see you working on something a bit nicer, keep up the great work
Many years ago a great friend of mine won a custom '82 Twin Turbo Vette at Cypress Gardens off his entry ticket thrown in a barrel, awesome car!
Sir, I just found you and you have reignited my love for the 1982 Collector Edition.
Beautiful cars
What a nice rig. Congrats 👍
