I always recommend these videos to anyone who will listen, been calling it "The most 'Murican video I've ever seen" though to be fair I'm a Swede so I don't know how well it stands up to others opinions. Taking a close to free car, getting it in approximately roadworthy shape, then driving it 250 miles to watch Nascar isn't something that would be possible here, just one reason I envy the US a bit lol

I also have a heat shield and hi-torque starter in the build list for my 83 Pace Arrow motorhome. We live full time in it, with significant modifications giving us a bunk bed up front for our daughter, a folding wind turbine tower, and solar power sufficient for us to be power-independant for the first time in YEARS. It feels wonderful.
Now to finish the engine rebuild.

Please make more camper videos! I actually just bought a 1986 ford travelcraft and am planning on doing the same thing. We’re gonna take it too a country concert about 3 hours south in Dayton OH and then plan to take it too a nascar race in August in Brooklyn Michigan! So me and my friends are super excited! I’ve only known your channel for a few months but let me tell you not only are the camper videos my absolute favorite but I’ve been waiting for this video since your last camper video came out! Please keep the RV videos series going and keep Nascar alive haha!

Back in the 90s I worked at an RV dealership. At the time,many of the Chevrolet powered motorhomes that sold came back because of a heat sync starter issue. Customers would load up with all their stuff on a hot day and first time they shut it off , it wouldn't start again. By the time I showed up , the engine had cooled down so it started immediately for me. Most customers would come back and trade in for a Ford . Generally the Ford's made a more reliable unit with more torque. Chev should have installed heat shields around the starters, that was the main problem other than a lack of bottom end HP and torque. Cheers Digs!
Oh and imagine the amount of people that the new mini high torque starters would have helped lol. And maybe some heat shields, and gaskets that didn't soak it in oil 🤣
Yep. I always say, "You can't go wrong with a Ford." That's all I've ever owned.
@@user-iy7yb1sh8g Experience with motorhomes drew up my conclusion. More torque at a low RPM is necessary to move heavy vehicles. That job made me a Ford guy too.

@@masterkamen371 Some our worst motorhomes and work trucks in america are Mercedes Benz lol not sure about quality control in your country but things are different here.. Our best powertrains here is probably Caterpillar and Cummins however most people can't afford these powertrains with our economy. Of the American 3 Chev, Dodge and Ford ,I will take the Ford from my experience. Remember the period of time I'm referring to is in the 90s . The engines offered now are totally different. Cheers Europe dude. Btw Fiat , Ferrari and Dodge work together now LoL 😂

Dude! I’d put plywood doors on the side, paint them white, pressure wash that baby, fix the fuel system and it sounded like exhaust leak towards the end and use it! She’s a great unit!

Excellent video Junkyard Digs Kevin :) plus crew , yes amazing on certain vehicles haveing not running for awhile and performing good ! I know in 2005 me and my one cousin Glenn got his Grandparents 1975 Dodge D350 Extended cab camper with Desiel motor fix up and took trip to my one cousin famillies camp site and we had fun 3 weeks too ! The van had not running for 20 years and but did have few on Desiel motor but got fix up and was fairly simple to was fuel problem too !
I was there too, and it was my first race ever! I tried to see the camper from the stands, and was depresso when I couldn’t. You and this video tradition is part of what convinced me to come to the Kansas spring race rather than the fall race, and I couldn’t be happier with my choice!!❤

Roofing silicone (such as Henry Tropicool wet patch roof repair) is the miracle solution to stop RV roof leaks. You could smear it over sticks and make a water tight roof!
The brand Geocel is my go to sealant. You have to get it at a roofing supply house.

I saw you guys on the Kansas City news when you were at the speedway! Was so cool to me, I told the wife hey look it's Kevin and Dalton! I am from south west Iowa, but I moved to Kansas City area in '91, I do live far from Dalton.
@31:20 those electric fuel pumps were an after production retrofit on Chevy p30/p37 chassis to help with vapor lock. They pumped to the pump on the engine. They are dependant on the oil pressure switch to engage and have a time out.
As an RV tech, I love watching these NASCAR RV revive and drive videos. Well done!

This was awesome. I have an 87 Winnebago that was similarly revived. After a radiator, leaky fuel pressure regulator at the tank, a few vac lines and mouse-chewed electric choke wire repairs, that BBC is just as trusty as ever. Thanks for sharing

25:00 I did something like that with a pickup camper. I cut an arch at the top of the 2x4's so it pushes the roof up in the middle, that helps make the water run off.
