    Hi Beth,
    This is the definitive CZcams video on 2 up Ryker riding. Beautifully produced, loved the split screen. Your commentary while riding seemed to be more positive than your summary about 2 up Ryker riding at the end. Your Ryker has the Baja Ron swaybar which is rumored to be better for the passenger in turns and higher up than the BRP swaybar Zia had installed. Also a man as a passenger changes the center of mass more than a lighter woman which might make the handling less stable. When we had a 2017 Spyder RT my wife had a passenger seatbelt for safety. I know on 2 wheels a seatbelt is not recommended but a trike corners more like a car and have heard of one wife who could get lighthearted sometimes, and might fall over as a passenger. Top notch video as always and enjoy the collaboration with Zia who is also on my A list of ryker reviewers.

    I watched your other video yesterday. Great perspective. As I stated, I think the 1330 would be best for me and my wife. We ride together a lot! Plus we ride with other couples too. Don’t own one yet but maybe next ridding season here in the burbs of Chicago!! Burrrr, it gets pretty cool here in the winter and my wife won’t want to ride unless it’s warm out. Can’t blame her. When I was a newer ridder I would bundle up and fight the cold, after I had a few years under my belt, I became soft and wouldn’t ride much in the cold! I just turned 60 and have been on 2 wheels just about my whole life. The block I grew up on was a dead end unincorporated street so even as a kid I could and would ride on our block. Almost never saw cops in my unincorporated area!

    The knob on the rear shock is for comfort. To ride two up you have to get the adjustment tool to add preload to the rear spring. I max mine out.

    Even though the Ryker offers optional seating for a passenger, it's really not meant to carry one in much comfort. Talked with several folks at more than one dealership about this exact thing. It's pretty much just to sell more bits and bobs. It will do it but just not really made for that. The Ryker is akin to a bobber style motorcycle in this sense. The red rebound control setting on the right side is not near as important as the preload setting on the shock itself. The preload should be set most of the way, if not all the way out, to the stiffest setting. This will control bottoming out when a passenger first sits down. The rebound should be set to 3 or 4 with a passenger. Per the manual, due to the way the Ryker handles and shifts riders to the outside of a turn, definitely use the grips and don't hold on to the rider. Basically if you plan on carrying a passenger often, trade up to an F3 or Spyder RT. Great topic and video.

    Hello! I enjoy both of your channels, thank you for all the great content. I would like to offer some clarification of the shock adjustment for the ryker 900 rally edition direct from the manual. For 2up riding the spring pre-load adjustment (the 2 large notched rings on the front of the rear shock) should be 7/16 to 5/8 up from the snap ring, This adjusts how firm the ride is. The high speed compression damping control (red) knob changes how the shock reacts to high suspension velocity, in most cases, at higher speed and should be set between 2-4 for 2up. I caught a glimpse of your preload and it looks about right for 2up so maybe you want to consider easing it back for just yourself. Thanks again!

    Thanks Beth (and Zia and Brian) - watched both vids. The max weight limit is really 330 lbs??? I thought it was supposed to be 430 lbs. Saw another CZcams Ryker rider with his wife and they combined were approaching (or over) that 430 pound mark. Luckily I got a little time before my purchase (class in a week), but y'all got me thinking about the F3 again. Don't know that I'll frequently have a passenger, but if/when I do, they should be comfortable enough. Appreciate you all posting, love the collab effort.

      Keith, thank you for bringing the maximum weight question up. I got my number off of google instead of the manual. (Lesson learned)
      Here is the correct info:
      Maximum weight limit for the 600 and 900 = 449 lbs or 204 kg
      Maximum weight limit for the RALLY is: 438 lbs or 199 kg

    Question. I have a Ryker rally. I noticed the little red knob setting has 1-4. Some people are recommending to use a spanner wrench to tighten the suspension. Since the rally has the red knob already does that replace needing the spanner wrench?

    • @RykerRydes
      @RykerRydes  Před 3 lety

      Hi Blake. I hope this helps:
      The large nut around the top of the spring/shock is for “preloading”. This does not make the ride stiffer. It simply compresses the spring so that it takes more weight to compress it. It will adjust the “sag”. That is the difference in the height of the bike from before you sit on it and after you sit on it. The preload compensates for extra weight on the bike: more weight, more preload.”
      The Rally also has a red knob for compression/rebound setting. This controls how fast the shock reacts to bumps in the road. A low setting lets the shock “float” over bumps and can make the bike feel “loose or bouncy”. A higher setting allows the shock to react slower to the bumps and can result in the bike feeling more firmly planted on the road.
      There is no specific setting for either. The rider needs to get a feel for the settings based on their particular weight and riding style.
      Have an awesome day and thanks for watching and subscribing!

    With the 600, the stock rear shock is fine for me and my wife. I set the rear shock to 4, and I just leave it there. It is stiff and sporty with just me, and feels great 2 up.

But big minus i see, the milage...my late 70's buggy did better . And the ground clearance, i fear i might bottom out on each speed bump here. I found that you lost a lot of power with two people. It seems the engine definitely takes some of the torque out and limited upper end speed as well acceleration throughout. But you're right, turning and braking def takes a good bit more work and consideration of the passenger on the back. I've gone over speed bumps with someone around 200 on the back and you def bottom out even at max setting with the better spring. Mind you I'm 170 myself, so total weight was around 370.

      Hi! I found the seat itself very comfortable. I do like the look of matching seats. So if you have an upgraded seat, then it looks good with the upgraded passenger seat to match. Just my opinion. But as far as comfort....stock worked great for me.

    • @RideAboutNow
      @RideAboutNow Před 3 lety

      The stock seat is great for short runs. I think the passenger seat is a bit less comfortable than the rider seat but only because it’s narrower. The comfort seat would be better if you go on longer day rides but my first mod would be upgraded shocks for 2 up riding.
