Moore has never been a HC. I could see if he was a former player at Michigan then yeah they will feel indebted.
There are plenty of viable candidates to take over the Michigan program instead of Moore.
Even Ben Johnson of the Lions has a better resume as OC than Moore.

@@lukephillips770 Kelly was in the rumor mill about 10 years ago. His ego even for Ann Arbor was deemed pretty large. He is better off staying at LSU that offers a more condensed recruiting area (Louisiana and Florida). Kelly is a putz, knew the guy back in the early 1990s.

Perhaps dozens of qualified coaches were passed over by Michigan and 100s at other top schools for 120+ years because of their skin tone. Embarrassing that Michigan has never had a black head coach and it is 2024.
I cannot think of a tougher test to be given just hours noticed and then be expected to coach the line, Be the D Coordinator and be the head coach against a top 10 team on the road and then be expected to beat OSU under similar circumstances at home 2 weeks later. What Moore did in those 15 days in November is truly unprecedented.
He 100% deserves to be head coach of Michigan on his merit just based on that.
