Although he was a QB, he's a big believer in a good running game and a good defense, which are actually a QB's best friend. Obviously he's gonna coach up Herbert too. Truly sad that he left my beloved Michigan, but I am pulling for him to succeed in Los Angeles. In truth, while I was angry at first, I have come to accept his decision for what it is. I was at the infamous Eagles game when the fans chanted "We Want Carr" to get David Carr , one of the biggest busts, in the game (I wasn't one of them, I was one of those telling them that's crazy, and we're still better off with Alex). He was 100% a bust. When the 49ers signed him to that short contract, it was a scratch your head moment. Why does Harbaugh want to keep this guy around? doesn't he want a fresh start with a new QB? It was a little like McDaniel and Tua, but Alex had a lot more time to show us he wasn't the guy. Except it turned out it was everything around him that was wrong. In our 49ers household, we were conflicted about him getting benched (I think in the long term that proved to be the wrong decision, Kaep could run all over the Packers but he wasn't a real QB) and we supported Alex when he was on other teams and were happy when he was doing well. Now he's one of the few sane people on ESPN, so that's good too, I guess.

It provides a minimal competitive advantage, especially when their is much, much more ergregious cheating going in the SEC in the form of inducement and tampering, things that actually carry a significant competitor advantage.
