It is really pathetic that prices for the same services, medicines and eyeglasses are a fraction the cost in the US. Medical tourism is no longer a luxury, it is a necessity.
Thank Minimum Wages for that
@@chrislincoln489 Wages have nothing to do with that. Many countries have higher wages in the medical industry, yet cost for health care is much lower than the US. The big industry has told the public over and over that wages are the culprit. Not true at all.
We need to demand free Medicare for all.
@@annblack3146 Who Pays for all that free stuff

I agree I work in sales and realize that’s how people feed their family and make a living. I am going to show this to my family members so they aren’t so frightened for me when I say I’m going to Mexico to get my nails done and to get some cheap prescriptions. Lol I love going to Mexico. They are the nicest people.
Interesting that 50 % of our population make the people of this country out to be villains …. That is of course until they are needed I guess.
People in Mexico are nice...its the few ruthless drug cartels. Now even resorts in Cancun Mexico that used to be considered safe are not as safe now. However, this area where this video is being taken is unknown to me the drug problem or crime. Looks like Bob had no issues.
@@janiswilliams2766 exactly. Typical.
Going all the way to Mexico to get cheap prescriptions: lifesaver. Going all the way to Mexico to get your nails done: priceless.
Do I have to show proof I'm vaccinated?
Yes, I go to Los Algodones every year to get my teeth cleaned, order a complete blood panel work up, see a dr to get a prescription filled. I've also had simple dermatology work done. The dr visit was $40, teeth cleaning is $35, derm procedure was $80. It is so easy to cross the border and walk to all the different medical offices. The medical staff is always highly professional. I usually get everything done in 2 visits. This year I'll be taking friends to show them the ropes. Be sure to go early in the morning so you can avoid the longer lines to cross back over the border.
Had no idea you can order a complete blood panel. Do we call ahead or just walk over with a place in mind?
@@DN-rg9nj yes, most medical offices have online scheduling calendars. I went to Simply Dental and was able to schedule an appt online through their website. Blood work is walk-in.
@@anybodyoutthere3208 for blood work I just walked in.

Never been but I know lots of people here in Tucson go down there
We hope too
How would they react to my ChowChow Service Dog? I'm in a powerchair.
My good friend recently went to Mexico to get full denture implants. He stayed for about 7 days in a local hotel there and was completely done in those 7 days. He looks amazing! He is extremely happy with the work. The price was extremely reasonable. I believe he said it was 2,000$ for everything. Compared to the U.S. great deal!!
Can you recommend the name of the dentist
I’d like to know as well.
Sami Dental is internationally known. That’s where I went...did a video on it. But, do your homework. Read the reveal so.
Great video! I was worried about going to Mexico and my fears are gone. Thanks
@@ZOEYLLWP Ill check with my buddy, and let you know
Really appreciate this video! I just lost all my health insurance due to a career change and I won't have access to affordable healthcare for a year or more. I planned on visiting Mexico just to see it anyway but this is great news! Now I know I can get my glasses and dental taken care of too!
As long as you suffer in merica, you'll never have affordable health insurance
Thnx much...I really needed this...as with alot of seniors..my medicare supplement only gives me..$2 500 a year..not horrible but if one needs a crown...forget it..or/ and root canal
@@BrownEyePinch Reasons why I'm trying to leave the country lmao
If you aren't in a position to go to Mexico I suggest you check out a dental college, I have one an hour and a half away and will make the trip if I need major dental work done.
@@BrownEyePinch you got that right. I pd. 1600.00 for a root canal and crown
Plus another 1600.00 to the lab that made the crown. I had a charge card. Maxed that out getting the lab pd. Now i have bad credit. No job. Cant pay visa card. I have a repo. So when the the pandemic hit town. It turned evetyones world upside down. Im in a apt. Barely paying the rent. I pd. My dentist a yr. 135.00 monthly. That was really tough. T h e 135.00 monthly i had to take off my grocery bill. Im still eating out of can goods. Our son helps with 200.00 monthly for t. Paper p. Towels etc. But the meat is a big problem. Its expensive here in dallas texas. I need glasses. My lense cost 825.00. The lab makes the lense in 3d. To perfection. I wonder if los algodone has a lab that makes the lenses in 3d. I have one eye. Almost blind in the other eye. I have glaucoma to. I had cataracs taken care of about ten yrs. Ago. I can still drive tho. So i have to have the best quality of lenses made. Thank you.
I'm self employed and no dental insurance. Had major dental work done 18 months ago " bridge and 2 crowns" and saved $12,000. Service was amazing and spent the night in Yuma which is couple miles from algodones. Grand total including Holiday Inn was $1300. Kickass!! Timmy C Arizona
@timmy Cramer 200 remember name of dentist you went?
Man. am I glad to see this one. Wouldn't mind seeing a 2022 version update.

The need for this is baffling to a European. But I am glad that you have this possibility to get affordable health services.
Yeah Americans haven't been willing to fix their health care system for a couple decades, they are also losing life expectancy due to their habits and nutrition. It is truly bizarre to see it happen in a first world country.
Bob’s videos always full of incredibly useful information. Always delivered simply, direct, and easy to understand. Thanks as always for sharing all your knowledge. 🙏
Even if you can afford the outrageous costs in the US, why not save money and have a vacation at the same time?
Mens hair cut? 5 bucks! Wow!
$3 for that in Thailand 🇹🇭. No wonder being an expat nomad is popular.
@@brucesmith9144 Indeed! I'm planning on traveling the world when I get the chance. Being a Nomad has its perks!
It's free because I cut my own.
OMG, I just felt that I've had a virtual tour of a quick trip to Mexico (obviously not a whole deep cultural tour) - it's the closest experience to spending a few days in Singapore (which is expensive). Thanks for my mini-holiday Bob :)
Singapore? Lol..no, Algodones is nothing like Singapore! 🤣
Mexico is amazing for dental according to literally dozens of people I know. My glasses, I go to zenni. Thanks Bob!
I have a fifth wheel permanently shut up in Deming New Mexico. 35 miles from Palomas Mexico. It’s very similar to this video but appears to be smaller. I have used American dentistry in Palomas and I cannot recommend them early enough. Bobby’s right price is about 1/3 US prices and they treat you like a king.
Thanks, William. Do you walk into Mexico? If so, where do you park on the U.S. side, that allows parking, and is safe from break-ins or theft? Liz
@@veatplants6721 Please note I am referring to Palomas Mexico across the border from Columbus New Mexico South 35 miles from Deming New Mexico. It is similar to what Bob described on his video there is a parking lot that charges I believe it’s five dollars did used to be free. Just before the parking lot there is a dollar store they would allow you to park for free. There is a walk of approximately 50 yards to the border and you just walk across and immediately you encounter as involved video some hawkers and street vendors and there are stores and several pharmacies and dental facilities along with various doctors. If it’s dentistry I recommend American dentistry they are in the courtyard to the right of the pink store. The pink store is a very prominent building on the corner just as you cross the border it is very well known as very good food all sorts of merchandise for sale.
@@veatplants6721 Bob gave u this info
@@williamhaywood1610 Bob, thanks so much. Yes, I understood south of Columbus location. This is closer to me than Algodones. I really appreciate the reference!! Liz
@@joybickerstaff194 Thanks Joy, got it. Liz
When we were snowbirds in Yuma, many of the people, especially those from Canada, had dental work done and many people purchased their medications in Algodones. The names of the trusted providers spread by word of mouth. In the comments someone said they would not trust a dentist from Mexico for fear of becoming sick, but many of the medical providers there are Americans who live here, were schooled and trained here but practice in Mexico. You have to ask around.
When you say ask around do you mean while you're there and see other Americans? Is it cheaper the farther you go away from the 1st block? Do you feel it's better to not do that? Thank you
I just went to Sani Dental. Very clean, sanitary, and up to the date technology. They have an international award that only 3 of the dentists there have. You can see how nice it is in a view I did.
@@HoboJoOnTheGo thank you.
Yes the further you go from the first block it will be cheaper. Many of the best dentists are off the main area.
Prime real estate is more expensive.
The clinics with a good reputation get their business from referrals (word of mouth). I live on the border and highly recommend Smiles Dental Dr. Cantu in Palomas. A 5 minute walk across the border from Columbus, New Mexico. Pancho Villa State Park even will take you to the border crossing in a golf cart if mobility issues are needed.
@@debbizill9835 You ask around by talking to other snowbirds in the US. Once you ask the question in a group, you will get plenty of answers. 😉
I went to Mexico for dental last year and will be back there again very soon. No regrets.
Thank you for the gift. Please give it to someone in need of it.
So great and so useful! The people of a Mexico are some so the kindest in the world!
What a good deal. Its so sad that here in the USA would help out regular people and have cheaper prices. Good show Bob. Happy New Year to you.
I thought you couldn't film
I went to Los Algodones from the RTR one year. My grandson and I walked all over, ate lunch and I went to Dr Franko. It was all great!!
Thank you very much for taking the time to provide us all this helpful information. You
are doing us a great service. Sincere regards!
Thank you so much.
The details and nuances in your video are great.
I have a collection of Los Algodones videos (4) and my confidence is building for the trip.
This is the kind of information Americans need to know in these troubling times of outrageous medical expenses. Thank you!
I got my paperwork ready, planned it out, I'm on my way from Maine, made an appointment, I'll be there on friday. THANK YOU!
This is a great and informative video. We need many more on various subjects
I live in Yuma and this video is spot on. Sometimes we go just to grab some fish/shrimp tacos for lunch. Too easy and safe as well.
Is food significantly cheaper there to bother? Why would seafood be better on the Mexican side, when both cities are in the desert?
The hockers can be annoying but I respect that they are out there trying to sell goods instead of begging for $ like a lot of people do here in the states.
True
If you partake of their services, that visit to the pharmacy will require a few more medications.
I'm always glad to see you Bob!
Wow. I am so surprised at the cleanliness there. This is an excellent video. Thank you for taking the time to be so clear in your tour. Happy New Year.🎊
V
I just went to Sani Dental...you can see how sanitary they are (better than some places here) in my video if you want. They have an international award that only 3 dentists in this area have. Went in oct and nov of this year.
Thanks for this video! I have been doing the same thing for years in Tijuana. It is very similar. Very easy to walk (or drive) across the border and never had any issues. The people in the pharmacy already know me. As you say, everyone there is just trying to make a living and do a good job so people keep coming back. Border patrol doesn't care about you bringing your prescription drugs. They know that's what people do. I have never been searched.
As someone that goes to Mexico all the tim for medical stuff my advice is to always get a second opinion before having any work done. That advice applies to the states as well.
I hand write a list of medications and read it to the pharmacy staff. They don't require any MD RX for anything considered OTC (In Mexico is pretty much anything, except US controlled meds). I always go to Liquis pharmacy (purple on 2 different corners, opposite each other). I just tell border guys I have meds, and they ask what kind, and I tell them Blood pressure, asthma, allergy, acid reflux. And I get waved through. If you got dental work, they will ask if you got pain meds, I usually have Ibuprofen, or another the dentist prescribes for pain and inflammation which is a blend of Tylenol and Ibuprofen) and I get waved through.
A lot of people are scared until they have gone through the process a few times. Then they are happy and chill.😊
Also never have I had them sort through what I am bringing back, but neither do I want that. I never get any thing that will give me issues at the Border.
I'm glad you knew exactly where you were going. Those "hawkers" would get me so distracted. If I went there I would bring a friend that knew his/her way around the area.
Thank you, Bob. I appreciate all the useful, practical information you put out.
*Good reminder on Passport. 👍👍
I was there about a month ago and a driver license is all you need...
@@ZiggZagg11 How about entrance to Mexico thru San Diego. Do you need a passport.
True, my brother got lasik done in Peru for a quarter the price, here in the US.
Thank you for sharing the important and technical parts of living free on the road ✌️💜
This was a valuable video, Bob! Thank you so much! Been wanting to go there for dental work but was apprehensive since I have to go by myself. I prefer to go w someone but feel confident now to go there either way! Thank you again!
I was a single, older woman crossing by myself and also a little apprehensive. But, it was so safe. There are so many Americans around you and the tourists are their way to make money, so they treat you very nice. I never had one second where I felt uneasy. And Sani Dental where I had my work done was cleaner than a lot of places in the US. And top of the line technology. I would highly recommend it.
@@HoboJoOnTheGo thank you! That makes me feel tons better!
Awesome video!! Thank you for providing it to us!! I wish I could have met you in person when I was at RTR 2022 yesterday in Quartzsite. Perhaps next year. Stay safe….
So glad you made this video as I was wondering how it looked going in and out of Mexico. Very nice that we can get affordable Rx, dental and glasses by visiting our neighboring country. This is now on my to do list when the time comes that I will need these services. Thanks Bob!
I so appreciate the information for the future. I'm sure I will get there and use these facilities. Great place!
Thanks for sharing this video and all the great information! Have a blessed New Year in 2022!
This fellow is so informative!
I loved walking aimlessly around shops and marketplaces when I lived in Mexico 50 years ago. Next to the smells coming from food carts and hole in the wall restaurants, I loved those from leather workers' businesses. All unforgettable memories forever etched in my mind. I have only seen shrimp that size (6:40) in Guaymas.
Lynn do you know if you can purchase the shrimp and bring them back across to the US?
@@jenne8180 yes, and thank you' it was in the 70's on a vjsit to Cd Obregon we stopped in Guaymas and bought 2-3 kilos from a fisherman who had netted them that morning. Np problem whatsoever with customs.
Hi bob. Love you and cody and family. I love mexico. Oh.man. i just had 1600.00 worth of dental work done. I didnt know about things being so affordable. Thank you for a wonderful video. As usual.
Thank you so much for the information wasn't sure how far I could go into Mexico without being in danger so this is helpful. Recently went and luckily you don't have to have a passport just my driver's license and I was able to get in and out no issue. It's up to the traveler to decide if they want to try it but I didn't need one.
How far do you have to go into the US before being in danger.?
you are more in danger in the US, check the stats.
Thank you _so much_ for this excellent video! Definitely keeping this in mind for whenever I need new glasses. 🤓
Awesome info Bob, thank you so much!🦋
Thank you for showing us this side if Mexico. I have been there many times fir vacation but never for medical.
A former workmate of mine used to go there with his wife all of the time. Thanks for the video describing it for those of us not fully aware of it.
I love los algodones! We've been a number of times. Molcas tacos is so good! I go to Dr. Valenzuela for my dental needs and couldn't recommend his office more.
Thank you for making this video. I'm planning on going there next year for dental implants next year and now i kinda know what to expect.
I have to say, that's an adorable little town!
I bet it is cheaper the deeper you get from the border. Great video today.
No you make great videos you are a godsend!
Thank you Bob. For the Mexican border shopping trip. I love you videos, and think you are soo cool.
Thx for the Molar City info. hadn't seem that before.
Great info, thanks Bob!
Wow !! I live in NY but have always wanted to venture and relocate out West.. Traveling to Mexico would save so much on cosmetic dental work that I’d love to get done ! Thank you for the video!
This is good to know. I usually do all my dental (unless something is urgent) back in Serbia when I go to visit my family. I pay out of pocket, don't have insurance there anymore. I got two dental implants with crowns and all that for ~$1500. In the US crowns only would be about $1500 for both without insurance.
Thanks for the tour!
Thank you Bob. This was a lot of good information.
Amazing , thank you for this.
I go there all the time. It is safe and all the services are quick except exiting back to the US! Recently, they have begun to close the border at 10:00 pm vs 2:00 pm as was the case for about a year. This has helped to cross back over a bit quicker. Sometimes, by vehicle, it takes over an hour to cross back to Arizona.
Thanks. Very informative.
just went there yesterday. got back into the states with an enhanced mn drivers license. no passport. also took about 2 hours on 1 to 3pm in line at us customs. great vid. nice town. going to go back and leave later in the day when I think line wont be as long.
Thank you! 😍 Best video!!!
Wow that’s amazing, I’m sure the food is delicious 😋
I went to Nuevo Progresso across the border from Mercedes, Tx and got implants. The dentist was the best I have ever had. As a bonus the have Ivermectin and other drugs in the drug stores without prescriptions.
what was the name of the practice?
Such a helpful video, thank you Bob! I do wish these videos clearly showed the dates filmed. It’s kind of confusing with Upload Dates. I always wonder how much has changed. But maybe Mexico doesn’t change.
We need to do this. We need dental work but the dentists are honestly outrageously high. I have 2 crowns that came out for no reason (that I’m aware of )over the pandemic. We are going to check into this for sure. I know so many people who have done this and their teeth look beautiful.
Thank you for two 😷. That is a great statement.
Very Good Advice. You've giving me much to think about 🙂😉🙂
I like the look of this little town I see a lot of Americans there thanx.
That was the first nice place I have ever seen in Mexico. The boarder towns to Texas are forget about it!
Yeah I wouldn't be brave enough to cross at Laredo or El Paso
Love going to Algadones did my shopping there last year. Couldn’t make it to Quartzsite this year. Missing all my friends.
Thank you for the great info.
Great Video knowledge is a treasure thank you for sharing.

When I lived in San Diego, I used to go to Tijuana for all my needs. Why not, we taught them & they had all the same stuff we have North of the Border.
i think that's what makes it good the hawkers and cheap prices

Thanks for the information
Thank you for this.
Thank you Bob! I had some dental work done there last year (a root canal and crown) . I was very pleased with the quality of the procedure! I actually submitted a copy of the statement to my
U.S. health insurance company, and...believe it or not! they reimbursed me for almost half of the procedure! I thought you might be surprised to know that!
Mine cost me 1600.00 before the pandemic started. My dentist is a cosmetic dentist . he is not as expensive as other dentist. Im here in dallas texas. I paid for a year. 135.00 monthly. Got him paid march. 2021. I would love to live in or by mexico. Safe areas tho. Thank you bob. You are super great. Keep this video running. We all may need it later. Thank you.
It was about $750 including the medication for the temporary pain. The crown is called a zirconia? Amazing warranty also.
I wanted to add this also...They will usually take a credit card, but with a small extra fee. The credit card company also charges a small fee for an International charge. And of course, they like U.S.dollars
When I say they usually take credit cards, I'm referring to my dentist in Algo ones. Not sure about the other dentists there.
How did you chose a particular dentist from all the ones there? Did you take X-rays or anything to the dentist?
Has anyone spent the night there....supposedly there’s a very nice hotel there that is extremely affordable.
BOB! YOU ARE STELLAR...I've worried myself sick about meds bc my drug lady to Mexico, Mary Jane (No kidding🤣)moved from Apache Junction and I need meds...I'm in Boise..SO I'll be coming out in spring...wish I could get meds sooner..hug from Idaho 😊
really appreciated this information. I wonder if there is a place to find recommendations for specific shops and professionals in Los Algodones? Reading up on it, it's recommended to talk to experienced folks. I think we all know a good pharmacy now. Planning ahead for my trip there at some point. Thanks for sharing Mr. Wells
It's not just on the border where you can get what you need at a substantial savings. I was on my honeymoon in Cancun when we realized that my extra insulin was left behind. I walked straight into a pharmacy and got what I needed, way cheaper than my copay.
yep, you can do the same in canada. ever seen bernie sanders take a bunch of people on a bus from vermont to canada? for the insulin.
That's amazing

There is a movement among the Filipino American community to get medicare to pay for work done outside the USA...sure could save alot of money.
