Matt, you should be wearing a Back Brace Support Belt with all the heavy lifting that you're doing.
I injured my back 8 years ago because I was doing a home project and should have been wearing a Back Brace Support Belt myself. Today, after 3 back operations, I'm 95% bed bound and on drugs to manage my pain 24-7.
Kristen, see that he wears a Support Belt.
One more comment uncle Matty, I love your “live and let live” attitude !! Thank you 😊
I'm sure eventually I might have to do pest control.. but I can't kill for the sake of killing or convenience
@@SailingGoodBadandUgly I understand 🫡
When building your actual home. Build it with concrete, rebar and blocks. Then you stucco the outside and paint with a sealer exterior paint. This will take care of your walls and exterior finish, strong, waterproof, handles harsh weather. Doing it this way is the cheapest, and you can work as fast as u like. Once the roof is on you have all the time in the world to frame, plum, wire, sheetrock and finish the home.
That view over the mountains with that fog around is peace for our mind and spirit.
Awesome video guys!!! The drone footage in the fog was Epic! Maybe you can put some wheels on the chicken coop. They call them chicken tractors here in Tennessee. Lol See yall next time.
I raise chickens and I use a chicken tractor to keep them safe. Lots of plans for them on the net.
How funny, Captain Poopy pants! I thought he was just sweating! LOL
Matt, please use wire cloth that is approximately 1/4 inch square in size spaces. Snakes can easily get in through chicken wire but not the 1/4 inch wire cloth. Ask me how I know. Yes one got into my chicken coop through the chicken wire. The only thing that saved us was the bird netting covering the top. The snake got in the bird netting and got trapped, could not get out. Snakes love chicken eggs, little chicks and bigger chickens if the snake is big enough. They go after them at night when chickens are sleeping.
Hand feeding the wild iguana 🦎 is way cool 😎
Good morning it's 6:32am here
Crickie, Matt! You’re the Iguana Man. Don’t worry about the weight so much because I predict a tractor in your future. Maybe round off the bottom corners a little sled-like if you still can??? You are two showing some real farmer skills. Don’t forget to look both ways before crossing the Jungle.
G'day mate!
“The family has swollen” LOL wtf Matt’s free association has hit next level! Congratulations captain poopy pants. Great content y’all.
😂
Craped-in Poopy Pants!😂
come on capt. poopy,, AKA lemmonado,,, place is looking fine brotha !!! looks like fun and the chickens will be happy wherever you put them. See yall next week
Always working hard Captain Poopy Pants! Salute!
Good morning 😊
Yosemite Sam and the Wiskery Wabbit lol.
Chicken tractor with bike wheels for the rough terrain Capitan! 👊🏽
You guys are amazing!🥰🌴🌊🐓🐓🐓 the chickens are going to love their new condo ♥️ thanks poopy pants for sharing 😉😂😂
Them hawks come in fast them kittens wouldn’t even know what hit them.
To square a frame like your one for the coup, just measure both diagonals.
This is the ONLY channel I do not fast forward. I want to see every inch of the update. And always wait for the next upload lol
I wish you could post videos daily. I am addicted to your channel and i keep checking for a new video. Much love from Kenya❤
When I win the lottery, it would be nice to come see and meet you guys, and invite you to the Philippines to see our place we build from scratch, just like you are doing !
It looks good. I can't wait to see your coffee.
Thanks for the video.
My wife and I thought it was but crack sweat lol😂😂😂
hard sweaty work always creates skid marks
Are you naming your property?
@@amyhughes151
GBU Farm
THANKS!
Your area of El Yunque was the last known habitat of the Puerto Rican Boa, have you seen one? My wife's uncle raised coffee in the Cordillera Central. His wife would roast the beans with the juice of the sugar cane. Not sure if cane is still grown on the island but that's one way of doing it.
“I‘m invasive too” ( 19:32 ) - love the way you guys look at the world and understand your place in it.
Another great Sunday morning with you guys and a cup of coffee 😊
As far as the chicken coop, either buy the screw on axle chucks for popping wheel axles into. If you get wheels on swivels you only need them in 1 direction, if you get wheels that are fixed axle, Add them in both directions on each corner. Then you pick up 1 corner at a time and pop the wheels in. This makes your coup into. A big chicken tractor.
If you want to save money you can always just drill holes through the 4x4's & 2x6 then get any cheap wheels you can find used like 4 fat bicycle rims & tires or grab some old dirt bike or motor wheels and tires from a junk yard if you can find them. Then when you want to move the coup lift up a corner and pop the tires in. You could make a sliding system to be able to slide or flip the wheels up and down and lock them in place if you are really ambitious like the dinghy wheel bracket systems.
You can Do it Captain Poopy Pants
You can Do it All night Long !!
"Owe You Just 🪛 ed My 🍑!'
Ha😅😂🤣😝 That's what she said!
Good morning from the Arizona desert!
Nomadic Movement would be a good help with the coffee. That would also be a super cool collaboration. 😊
Hey there Lady Kristin, and Matty-Boy; I can't tell you two how much I enjoy every one of your shows, but "The Main Thing" I notice about your show is, the real solid love and respect you have for one another, it is such a joy to watch Y'all talk to one another, work together, helping each other, digging in, "TOGETHER", the way you look at one another, respecting and supporting one another. You guys are an inspiration to us all. Thank you.
You might wanna check with a local, but I'm pretty sure that coffee doesn't like direct sun. In Guatemala, they put shade cloth over the seedlings and I think they transplanted them under the jungle canopy.
To move mobile chicken coops, the farmers I've followed put two wheels on one end that touch the ground only when they tilt the coop for movement.
With your dimensions, maybe it'd be best to move it sideways which could cause a need for a third or even a fourth wheel along one long side.
We had 70 ducks, bunnies cats and fish pond, now we have a small 3.6 acre farm in lower Michigan not far from Toledo Ohio. Fall colors are prime now !
Hey cappy poopypants!😂 or is it crappy poopypants?😂😂
Oh the love Captain Poopie Pants and his lovely lady Kristen have for their feathered children which will no doubt pour over onto their own brood at some point in the future. The coop is looking great so far and will surely be approved by the chick's although Harry Hawk may be disappointed! Thanks you two. See you in next weeks adventure.
You need to build a "chicken tractor (look it up). Making great progress, looks like fun. You never want solid floors in a chicken coop, Build it like a deck, so there is room for the poop to fall through, the chicken poop will rot out the boards.
You can always add some wheels to it. Not sure if you have a Harbor Freight there but they carry nice wheels for that type of stuff to make it more mobile.
capt poopy pants is making decent progress but you might regret not being able to stand up in the coop. In the jungle you should build with a small gap, especially when using screws. I'm looking at a warped and cracking railing that was installed 3 years ago super tight with screws. hammering a piece of wood in place because its a tight fit then screwing it together isn't a good jungle build method. with nails it could maybe pull apart a little without cracking.
My wife Linda plays your videos for me every weekend, now I am a subscriber. You 2 are such a great team!! Captain Poopy Pants - hilarious - you own it Matt!!
The boys of San Fransisco are digging those cutoff jeans and boots my friend.
it's fun to stay at the YMCA
@@kevio6868 funny!
That was amazing how you got that iguana to eat out of your hand too sweet. You have such a kind heart Matt God Bless you.
My wife and I love how you guys put out a new video every week.
How many times a day do you think Kristen says “do you think that’s a good idea Matt”…..lol
What a nice spot to start a family . Great choice .
What? Is Kristen pregnant?
I really enjoy your videos so much because they make me smile every time and sometimes laugh at your shenanigans. There are only three videos that I watched religiously, and yours is one!
You two remind me of us when we were young in the home building phase of life. Treasure these days which help mold you into a lifelong couple.
Epic drone work guys. That is a chicken penthouse...well done! Matt please let me send you a pair of safety glasses and some clean shorts. Looking Good GBU!
I love you two's tenacity and go getter attitude. What you lack in carpentry skills you make up with good common sense. That with a genuine joy for life. 👍
Man!! You guys just keep getting better and better!! GO TEAM FARMER lol
Hoping everything going fine over there in P. R.. I'm Puerto Rican I left the Isla over 50 yr.. be safe over there take good care in Forest or wood area.🤗👍🤩😎
Awesome job guys! If I may make a suggestion, find somebody to powerwash the block structure, it would look a lot better just by doing that. If not, still good prep for some paint to make the place look more livable. 🙏🏼👍🇵🇷
Growing up my family would make mobile coops using PVC pipes.
You got this Captain poopie pants.
Stay safe
Great job building Capt Poopypants, love seeing this all come together!
When you guys were on the boat I really thought that was heaven now I know you guys are truly blessed we the best life ever.
All you have to do is get some pipe, put a couple of wheels on the ends, lift up one side of the coop, slide one axle with wheels under one end and do the same for the other end and you can push the coop to another location. Boom, you're done! You could even use a car jack to jack up the coop to put the axle under it.
Over the years (decades), every time the wife and I attempted to become somewhat self-sufficient, such as growing our own vegetables, chicken farm, fruit trees, etc, after the dust settled and we totaled up the expenses (not to mention all the labor involved), we found for just 2 people on a small plot of land, it was easier and less expensive to just buy eggs and food when we need it. Hopefully when your dust settles things end out working out better for you. Looking forward to seeing your house design and construction get started.
Put wheels / Casters on the bottom to easily making it mobile
Captain 💩 pants screwed my butt 😂🤣😂
Matt's killing it with those Daisy Dukes
I am still appreciating the Lt. Dangle boots too much to notice the shorts…
Poopy dukes
Doing a great job. Check out the wheels yopu can get for shop tables and workbenches and such that allow you to use your foot to raise and lower them to move very heavy things when and if you need to. Might work to provide mobility and will be a better solution... Good luck!
Love what you guys are doing. When are you going back to your sail boat and see how is doing?
Next skill should be Alum welding. Whole area really shaping up. In my 5 years on the channel, this adventure has to be at the top.
Figuring out coffee ☕️ should be great fun. Enjoy. The best in the world comes from there
Matt/Kristen, One word ~ chickenwire and not plywood. I think you're making a hot-box for yo flock. Chicken wire will do the thing and keep yo coop nice and light and airy for the birds and easy for you to move. 🙂
Fun as always - thanks. Put wheels on the back end where the house is then you just pick up the light end and roll it. Goggle "chicken tractor".
Buy some big wheels and mount them to the side on some kind of lever so you can raise and lower them... Then, you'll be able to move that beast.
Great job so fun to watch you two is the boat in the water hope she's safe
Given all the ways to process coffee, I think I would choose the easy way
The kittens are so cute. I just love that you took them in.
Oh yeah Kirstan, I can taste that delicious chicken stew already. Yum yum.
You guys are awesome! Looks like that is more of a permanent chicken coop. Look up the chicken rickshaw so they can free range with no fear of hawks.
Gotta be honest here, I had a really hard time excepting that my favorite sailors were gonna go and be farmers/landlubbers.
BUT I still see the dreams in y'all and love how you are progressing, still my favorites 🇺🇸👍
Thank you very much for sharing take care
Hey Matty just looking at that red soil mixed with cement would make good rammed earth walls for the Hacienda. Now just a thought.
Matt Poopy pants? No way I can say the to your face. LOL. Good to see you are sailing through the homestead projects. Secure Shelter, food and water and then life is bearable. I will not say easy, because life is hard. Cheers. And be safe!
LOL great stuff Guys. What a great thing you have with the nature around you, true harmony! . Homestead Coming along. Thanks for sharing.
Greetings from South Africa
I have to tell you. I can’t wait for Sundays for these videos. They are FANTASTIC.
Drone shots in the mist with music...I'd watch an hour of that
Cap'n poopy-pants is an inspiration to just get out there and get things done. I really love how K has a positive outlook on everything. Life's an adventure for sure...
Love the progress guys, just one thing that I would like to see you guys do, that original building is really ugly, a good pressure wash and some paint slapped on it would really improve the looks of the property, but then you probably already have that in your plans. Good job on the new coop.
Guys that is a lot of work with wood. Like to recommend a prefab for the main house or a container house. with all of the shipping in that area containers may be easy to come by. Some of these container homes are super nice. With all the skills you have this would be a win win. Great job, Great Video.
OBSERVATION this is exciting for both of you. I never thought id see the words 'simple life' used to describe living life in a jungle. Cant wait to see you 2 make it home.
My husband has made me watch your videos since we were dating and this whole time i thought Matt was puertorican. You look like my uncle tio toyo! 😂
Hey Captn PP - great work (must be the great helper?) We use a lot of 6mm clear polyethelene (comes in a roll) for our duck coops-permits seeing thru without having to enter the coop. I have seen others simply remove a 6 in slot and cover with the stuff (kinda window to view the chicks etc). Should last at least one year in the sun. Have fun!
Excellent video!
I am so envious! So much fun and hard work! Cant wait till your next video❤
If in the budget, put the chicken coop on cement blocks to protect the wood from the humidity and rain...it will definitely increase its longevity.
G'day, iv'e been waiting for you. You have both just come on, in my part of the world. ❤❤❤❤
Helpful future pro tip for homesteading, if you place post in ground, lightly burn the sides and end of posts . This is how old timers treated wood post, als use a hard wood and or rot resistant wood if possible. You do have lots of bamboo, which I have seen ppl coat the bottom with a light coat of tar. Let it dry, wrap with any type of cloth and then set post.
The Cap’n Poopypants motto: Measure twice, cut twice, then stomp the poop out of it to make it fit!!
You need to get an ATV with a winch and a blade on the front! Also a trailer’s to carry your tools!
Put skids on the coup and you can drag it around to where you want!!
❤ from 🇨🇦
...the essence of any good story is that we care about the characters, want the best for them, and become attached to them. Matt and Kirsten, the quality of your film making is exceptional, but more than that, you make us laugh, you inspire us to take on new projects, and we're all so enjoying this new journey you're on. Bless you both☺...loved the bit with the kitten!
It's a bacon strip. Looks good!
lol @ captain poopy pants. We call that swamp butt in Michigan. That's what happens when you work hard. You two are the best. Also that drone footage was breathtaking.
You should get some of those wire balls for chickens. They're like hamster balls, except for chickens. That way they can roam around pecking the ground yet have barrier against hawk. That's is so long as hawk doesn't carry the whole works away.😮
Good morning landlubbers and ranch hand Bear 😊.....the kittens on the roof Matt you said it that could be easy picking for the hawk or an owl 😞
You guys are Awesome! Learning as you go in true GBU fashion. Growing your own food is one of those things that has a slow learning curve, because it takes a season to see what you did right and wrong. Our neighbor uses seeds that come on a paper tape. You just plant the tape. Great results and high yield. Thanks again for taking us along on your adventures.
