What is a femme fatale and where does she come from?
Is she a representation of independence?
    A symbolism of fear?
Or is she just a mere depiction of a manipulative evil women?
There are many theories surrounding the archetype. In this video I focus on one of the theories relating to independence.
What do you think her origin story is?

i believe this trope also comes off as a revenge after being hurt so many times by the crappy men in their lives so they kinda transform into this alter ego… nice commentary this channel is going places 👍🏽

I think the Femme Fatale is also a symbol of male fears about being taken advantage of; your senses are all blurred and your defenses are lowered by the face, body, and sexual prowess of someone who was only using you. Chauvinists are scared of this because they hate the idea of being manipulated by a woman. Non-chauvinists are scared of this too because, well, no one likes being a sucker. Femme Fatale's are great characters because they can be written in so many different ways: amoral opportunists (Ava from "Sin City"), traumatized survivors (Goldie from "Sin City), unreliable allies to the stories hero (Cat Woman from "The Batman"), etc. I love them all for different reasons because they make the reader/viewer think about what experiences warped them into what they became. Ma-Ma from the movie Dredd (2012) while not a full fledged FF, still has a lot of FF characteristics, and is one of my favorites. Lena Heady brought so many layers to her character which she portrayed more with her facial expressions and body language than her actual lines.

"Femme Fatale's are great characters because they can be written in so many different ways...".
Wow! I wish I included this into my video! Like you mentioned, her ability to mold into different women based on what she symbolizes is probably one of the biggest reasons why the archetype is so popular.
A symbol of feminism? A representation of male fear? A real-life depiction of a manipulative women? Who knows?
She truly is a shape shifter in our minds!

Nice take and great images; Louise Brooks in the silent era helped kickstart the movie version, and oddly for an otherwise enlightened band, the Velvet Underground offered a cynical song on the labeling.

There is no better genre than a hot woman dispatching endless evil doers in the dozens with a gun and swords.😅 God bless Michelle Yeoh and Milla Jovovich. Interesting trivia, Moulton Marston, creator of Wonder Woman, was close friends with the sisters who started the Feminist movement. Not related to the woman accused of racism recently.

The femme fatale is just a woman doing sex and romance like men do it…love em and leave em, preferably with other gain.
Men understandably find this unfair. 😂

I think it was born as a moral archetype to imaginatively highlight the woman who makes negative decisions (risky partners, dangerous environments, etc.) and consequently unleashes fatal, very karmic, consequences around her, or at least that is how it was handled in contemporary fiction for getting consumed in city stories. Relating it to ancestral tragedies is not always accurated, nor do I think it is a criticism of the independent and seductive woman, confusion must be avoided.

The myth of the femme fatale is just a character in literature and cinema that has no equivalent in real life. The fictional femme fatale is a very attractive and sensual but also manipulative and sinister woman who leads men to a fatal destiny. In real life the most toxic and manipulative women are not usually attractive, generally the woman who cannot attract men with her physique then does so through manipulation; and their toxicity is due to the fact that they are generally resentful people socially speaking.
There is the archetypal example of the witch who is a socially misfit woman, not at all attractive and who manipulates people by making them believe that she has magical powers.

Yes, very nice editing skills and sultry voice, but your misuse of the singular term 'woman' when referring to the plural (WOMEN) ruins it for me.
It is basic grammar! Woman (singular) women (plural). And dont get me started on the mispronounciation of the French word 'femme' 🤦🏻‍♀️
