The Aisin shifts like an old school transmission. As soon as you let off the gas it immediately down shifts 2 gears. I thought there was noticeable difference between them. Love the videos Ben

As an owner of a 2020 Ram 3500 that uses his truck for work I'll say this. Get the Aisen! It's a way more reliable transmission. I've already got 100k miles and have had zero problems with that transmission. Transmission shops make good money rebuilding 68RFEs, they make very little on Aisens

My 2017 Ram 3500 is Spec'd that way, none HO 360/850 with 68RFE i think it has 3:75 rear end not the 4:10, and i got it for recreation purposes large RV, Camper top and towing bikes...id say the HO and the upgraded Asin is for the more industrial work orientated guys who are dragging really big weights around every day, all day. The recreational guys like me can find good deals on the lower spec higher trim models for our purpose with plenty of head room in payload and towing with comfort and safety. Buying new, you would have to consider what you need it for.

Good review. We have a 2020 configuration the same but the Laramie trim. I wanted the higher output with the Aisin but didn't need it for my purpose which was to haul a large camper. When we bought, the configuration we bought was exactly the trim and features we wanted at a good price but just didn't have the Aisin. Love the truck and Cummins motor.

@@toobadd4290 I’m in the market for a 3500. Curious why you say this. I’m thinking I don’t need the HO but I’m getting conflicting opinions from people. I’ll be pulling a 14k lb 5th wheel every few months. Seems to me (I don’t know Jack) that the non HO motor might be less stressed as a daily driver. I’d like to hear your opinion since you are one who thinks the non HO is a good option.

Of you are going to work the truck do NOT get the 68RFE you will blow the transmission. They are terribly unreliable. This means towing 10,000+ lbs regularly or plowing snow. The 68rfe will NOT tolerate it long term. Blewine at 8,100 miles. Just traded my 18 for a 20 w/ the Aisin due to numerous issues with the 68RFE

I have a 18' 68rfe and has towed its whole life in are concrete flatwork business pulling a dump trailer 26,000lbs max tow-truck trailer load. Made it 88,000 miles before it cracked the tranny case, because the guys went down a cliff at the dump with a full load of concrete debris. Truck worked hard every one of them 88,000 miles. Ram replaced the tranny free of charge. I am very happy with the 68rfe tranny. Chrysler's 100,000 mile power train warranty also worked great.

If you are going to get a dually, go for the full pull with the HO and aisin transmission and you are covered for everything.
