I love the blackout wheels😍
I’m a Ram guy and have been for over 20 years so I’m excited to hear that you’re digging this truck so much. It’s a gorgeous truck and like you, I’m a chrome guy, but this is a beautiful truck blocked out. I don’t necessarily disagree with your on the brushed accents...all black might have been better. But she’s a beaut!!! ❤️
Love the red and blacked out look of the wheels!
Wow, that step under the bumper and the power spot mirror really spoke to me. A lot of good stuff!
Yes, I would love to see Ram have this in a wide front end like the 4500.
That really is one sweet looking truck, and that's not an easy thing to pull off with a duelly that's this big.
I have a 2020 Ram 3500 Limited with the black out package and I LOVE IT!!!!
Our traveling friends have this setup in all black. It’s a sweet ride & pulls/rides like a champ!
No way I'm getting a 85k truck with Chinese Nexen Tires. I'm carrying a load I'm going with Goodyear or Michelin maybe Cooper but never Nexen.
Hahaha 100% agreed. That is our friends biggest complaint. They’ll be swapping them out soon enough.
I’ve been in a Ram for 8 years. I’ll definitely be going back because I really like how far they’ve come and the new features are definitely eye catching to me.
I agree! Beautiful truck! The remote control for the convex mirrors are a great feature, especially considering how the mirrors flip up for towing wide trailers! I also agree the Ram interiors are the nicest, especially in the brown colors.
This is an awesome looking truck. Love the look and features on this truck. Thanks for the review JD.
I have the mega cab version of this truck and absolutely love it so far. I put a pedal commander on it, and wow it makes a huge difference.
$85k for a truck is way out of my budget. It would be hard to justify spending that much money on a truck unless you were a hot shot driver using it for your business. Beautiful truck!
All you need to do is win Powerball!😁😄
@@Itsa_Mea thats why you get rid of it after 100k and then get a new one. I'm just about done with my 2018 Laramie, I'll take a 30k hit on it but I've made way way more hotshot cash with that truck. It's also a perfect business expense write-off so it pays for itself in the long run.
Agreed
I love everything about this truck, especially the wheels!!
rear flares are so smooth that you can't even notice its wideness when looked by side
I love it, I just picked up a 3500 Dually Laramie in patriot blue. Absolutely love it!
Yes, the power spot mirrors! Not sure what year they started that, but my passenger is my adjuster on my 2017. Great truck and awesome review.
As always, a great video. I happen to have taken delivery of the same exact truck back in April with the exceptions of it being white, Alcoa rims, and a sunroof. If you are looking to purchase one, I think it’s a great choice, however there may be something that you may want to consider. I do not have air assist, but have the factory leafspring pack that I have modified, then with the capacity that I lost, I made up for with a set of firestone ride rite 7500 pound airbags, and an onboard compressor. When I was doing my research into the air assist, I quickly became aware that I would be held to the factories parameters as far as psi, I wanted my own control. The other thing that I did too wet to improve the look, was got a set of hub centric wheel spacers to push both of the duals out and make them flush with the outside of the fender. It pulls like no other Cummins that I have previously owned,
I absolutely love my 2019 ram 3500 srw HO cummins
Looks really good ol boy, blacked out look!!!👍🏾👍🏾
I knew once you dented your Ford 450 you’d be looking at the Ram.
Love the Ram. The blacked out wheels look good but I prefer chrome.
Man that's a beautiful truck, I have a 2016 ram 1500 and this one is definitely going to be my next step when I'm ready (and the money) for an upgrade.
Normally I'd agree with you on the wheels, however on this truck the blacked out wheels really work! I'd buy, until I saw the sticker!
Exactly!!!!
Still cheaper than any Ford equally outfitted but twice as reliable in every way ,and the interior is only a 10 compared to the three of the Ford on a scale.
@@AmericanSurvival001 the engines are better but good luck with their transmissions. Grandma has an 80s 3500? with 230,000 miles. 3 transmissions. The engine runs so smooth still though!! Gets well over 20 mpg highway still
One thing I like about the Ram is how smooth the dually fenders are. They don't look tacked on.
Got a 2020 Ram Larime Longhorn, beautiful truck . Luxury and a work beast in one package. Don’t drive it much , plans have changed unfortunately. Thinking about selling it . Still got less than 5k miles but do love it and it really is hard to let go of . It’s that awesome.
I have this truck, LOVE it! And yes, definitely Chrome.
I special ordered a 2021 1500 with the trailer package and it came with 4 additional TPMS sensors for the trailer. I have never seen that happen before but I love it!
Great video.
I bought my 2020 3500 dually 9 months ago. Laramie longhorn package with the HO Cummins and Aisin. I absolutely LOVE the truck. It also came with a 50 gallon fuel tank on my particular truck. It pulls my 42’ fifth wheel with ease.
Beautiful! I love my 2017 Ram 3500 but I might be tempted!
JD the truck looks dam good. My opinion is that i would take the black wheels over all the shiny chrome stuff any day. I also really like the blacked out trim. Its gives the hd truck a newer more up to date look.
Of course my superduty was bought before ford was doing a sport appearance package on the aluminum body, so i have had to do some getting rid of chrome. I don’t care for the superduty’s excessive chrome. One main reason I don’t like the shiny finished wheels is the superduty is really good at turning your shiny chrome wheels into some dirty brown wheels with all the road grime and brake dust, so you end up having to wash wheels quite often.
I went to a black, flat finished wheel and hardly ever wash them, simply because it takes a long time to actually look dirty.
I've honestly been a huge Dodge Ram or Ram trucks for years. I've loved their styling even back in the old days I love the style.
Love this truck, tired of chrome, bet that looks Amazing in Black
Thats one beautiful truck just the way it is
Love it! We have a 2018 ram laramie long horn 4:10, factory air,HO as well, Aisin, I agree about the wheels and the sun roof. We have a sun roof and wish we didn't , but other then that love it.
I just bought the 3500 upgraded Bighorn that is black with the blackout. Its a beautiful truck.
The blacked out version is a great look. As far as the black rims, awesome! Less cleaning and maintenance than chrome. I have a 3500 limited. Unless your brake pads are new, I have to constantly clean the brake dust off the oem rims. With that said; if anyone can suggest alternative brake pads, that would be great.
Powder coat rims a grey color..never wash them again..trust me I have 2.6m miles total on 3 dodge rams..brake dust will NOT appear even though it present.. Gun metal grey...
Use the exhaust break more.
Just use ceramic pads.
I do agree with you about not having a sun roof, had a sun in my 2004 Harley Davidson f250 superduty and after it froze and didn't want to close had to take apart and put back together with it permanently staying shut, I can do without.
Gorgeous. I'm not a fan of black wheels, but they look awesome with that red.
The blacked out wheels and grill look awesome. Best looking truck on the market.
Got one they pull amazing.
We had one of these at the FD where I work. Not in this trim line but almost the same. It was constantly in for repairs over 6 years. Engine work done, check engine light constantly on, 2 rear end gear replacements. Body was completely rusted through around the doors in 6 years.
So.... lacklustre quality regardless of mechanical amusements. All this beauty goes out the window the first time it breaks down.
The high output aisin trucks are always in the shop.... I love the torque that Cummins has to offer but hate my truck being down for repair so I bought a 6.7 powerstroke instead
@@onegoodturngetsmostofthebl7499 and it's only $85000. SMH
@@masonjohns208 I had a 2006 f350 with a 6 litre diesel it cost me more to fix it then the truck was worth so I traded it for a 2016 2500 Ram no issues except for putting a new alternator in 4 years.
@@masonjohns208 should not have bought a Ford then lol.
BTBV colors right there. Nice color match for your cargo trailer. Lower or adjustable ride gives more clearance from the bed rails. Looks like the hitch plate is also near level to the bed rails. Glad they make it easy to get a 5th wheel hitch that matches the tow rating. Still no switch to put the mirror up and down. I prefer buttons on the center stack. I guess more of the younger upcoming buyers are used to navigating touch screens. Yes I still use a flip phone. Nice review.
I just sold my Ram Dually and ordered a 2021 F350 King Ranch.
I had no issues with my Ram I just couldn't pass up the offer I got for it.
I ordered the Ford because I wanted a long box and Ram has a smaller crew cab and the mega cab only comes in a short box.
It came to transmission 10 Speed instead of 6. And the stock power rating.
Ram without a doubt has the nicest interior!!
I agree with you absolutely on the wheels and black emblems. 👍👍👍
I love the black wheels. They make the truck look even more bad-ass than it already does.
7:20 love the spot mirror control!😍😍😍😍😍😍! It’s then like a bus! or semi, etc!😍
Luv mine, pretty much same options and drive train. Luv my mopar 5th wheel. When I ordered my Laramie I ordered the standard front bench seat. Best thing ever. I can seat 6 adults yet have bucket seats, armrest and cup holders.
Hey there’s my Montana @6:34! Another great video!
Thanks
I agree with you about the blackout series
The wheels are perfect!
I LOVE this truck, but just different color, great review.
Great review! Very hands on and real world related.
I love the black-out, even on the wheels.
that is a beautiful truck. I totally agree with you on the sunroof thing. I had a truck in AZ that had a sunroom and the drain tubes all cracked due to the heat. Now that was a 2006 truck, but still. that was bad enough to make me never want a sunroof again.
Fire engine red with the night edition package is georgous. Black rims all the way!!
Love the rims and the color!!!!
Nice truck. Love the color combo. Those wheels are killer.
That’s nice looking. Smooth comes to my mind. I like the wheels
I love my 2020 dually 3500 with the night package!
I bought the new 2021 Ram 3500 dually I do like the black out in the front and opted out of the black out tires. I have the Laramie division also.
Love black wheels, but only in a gloss black. 100% agree with you on the sunroofs, I really do hate sunroof there such a waste.
I believe the Alcoa polished would make this truck look much better. The black wheels take away from that beautiful red color.
Very nice ride!
On my 03 red dually I took the simulators off painted the rims gloss black and put the chrome lugnut covers on .the bumpers were chrome.
Now waiting for your honest, detailed opinions when your trailer is hooked up to it. That will be the real tale-tell test. Cant wait!
I had a 6.7 ford switched to a 6.7 ram for the megacab. As far as towing they both do a fine job. The ford felt like I was towing with a hot rod and the ram feels like your towing with a Peterbuilt. Its all personal preference I loved my ford but I love my ram.
@@Mike-xr3yt and I am deciding now between Ford and RAM DRW myself to tow a 5er.
I have the same drive train in my truck. Love that truck it's a BEAST!
Absolutely love that truck
I love the looks of that truck, I have a 2018 ram 3500 in flame red along with the gloss black Fuel Sledge wheel in the accent along the edge.
Now I had chrome on it before and it pitted so bad it drove me crazy so I sold them and bought the Fuel wheel, now I love the look of my truck. Now on the brush chrome I'm so sure about because finding one that I would like, I haven't seen one yet.
Great video sir this truck I would love to have one but maybe one day.
I love that truck. Very nice ride.
My hubby and I watched this video this morning... ( the 2nd time for me) shopping to upgrade from our 2018 RAM 2500 to pull our 2021 Grand Design Solitude 2930RL-R....
WELL... with prices and (non) availability/availability of stock we bought a 2021 RAM 3500 Laramie dually today. *G* it's all your fault!! Lol! The 2020 they had was basically the same price, so we kept after him and got the best deal we could at this point. *shrug*
Thanks for the videos and the guidance! Now this granma has to learn to drive this long-winded truck with the confidence I had with our 2500!
Love the truck and wheels !
The blacked out is definitely the prettiest
Perfect truck to tow a fifth wheel with the family. Hopefully it’s reliable!
I owned à 1989 12 valve, 4x4 wd250 ,03 3500 dually à pile of junk and à 2021 3500 4x4 single rear wheel long bed. The first truck and the 2021 3500 4x4 great trucks. 32 years of ram trucks.
I've never been a fan of the black-out look. I lean more toward the chrome accents.
I bought one of these 2021 Ram 3500 Laramie 4x4, but in silver. Under load, I loved it! It was a bit harsh for my wife when running empty.
Like I’ve said, lol, I have the sunroof, zero issues, love the light. Love my Laramie.
What the black wheels remind me of are vehicles with missing hub caps. This one looks like a sports package idea with the painted bumpers, front grill, and door handles that typically come with the black hub wheels. Not likely to go 4x4-ing in this truck so would not be interested in that look. I like shiny, classy, spiffy chrome lol.
Will be interesting to hear your thoughts on how she pulls, because you’ve had your dually to compare. Cheers 🍻
That's true. The black wheels look like they are missing the hub caps. Makes a brand new truck look old. Will be even worse as the paint gets swirl marks and begins to fade.
I only generally like a few 80's and early 90's sports cars in red, on trucks I generally white through to black with the metallic greys in between being the most aesthetically pleasing.... But, then I saw a Dodge Ram dually like this, in the flame red with the night edition package and it just looks amazing! Although I do like it with the black wheels, I would be interested to see a lighter colour on those with everything else still blacked out, that would probably be the best looking 1-tonne I've ever seen.
4500 or 5500 would really be nice!!! I definitely agree
All the research I’ve done led me to this truck as well.
Yep... that is why I bought it 2 months ago.. changed wheels and tires and leveled it with Airlift airbags...
@ Todd Konitzer : I opted out of the factory air leveling on my 2017 because they hadn't worked out all the kinks. At least that's what the dealer told me. I installed the Airlift kit and couldn't be happier. I'm curious to know if they got all those kinks worked out yet or not.
@@TrailTrackers i don't have factory air bags... I have AirLift and no problems at all.. my first Ram and first dually... I am super happy with everything on this truck... especially the camera system and tow set up with exhaust brakes..
@@ToddKonitzer Sorry. I guess I wasn't clear. I was wondering if you bought your truck without the factory bags because they are still having problems.
Do the air bags make the truck ride any better when loaded/unloaded? Been thinking of installing some on my 2500.
The stock air bags on my 2019 3500HD SW work just fine. I haven't had any problems with them.
Not a fire engine red fan but the black wheels set it off very well
That's a slick unit 👌
One thing to keep in mind with all Dodge Trucks with Air Suspension (if you keep trucks long term) is the air suspension system is horribly expensive to repair when it goes bad post warranty - the suspension system uses nitrogen and the springs are $$$$$$ - to the end that most people remove the system and go to traditional system (on the 1500's at least) when they go bad
This is the best HD truck made to date! Ram is kickin A
I'd do the wheels in all black, no chrome or brushed accents here 🤣 I think it looks longer because of the more organic shape of the dually bed, it shows a reflection across it.
I agree that something like brushed nickel colored rims would look better than black. The black rims look like someone who lost a hub cap. Also they should have used black door handles. I love the air bag option, something I wished Ford had as an option, considering they added a 2 inch lift block on the 2017 - 2019 dually pickups. I am surprised Ram doesn't have they 10 speed transmission like Ford. Your comment was "spot on" regarding the adjustable mirrors.
2023 came with Air bag suspension with leaf springs.. it is great.
Good entry level review of the truck. The blacked out look is the Night Edition package. Air leveling system bed lowering mode is for hooking up and cancels at speed. On the HD trucks, it will lower at most 1". There is an Alt Trailer height (also 1" lower) to level it and take out the rake but requires ~600 lbs in the bed/on pin to activate. That's it, it otherwise it auto-levels. There is no real adjustment (I own a 2020 3500 HO SRW with air). P.S. The cluster gauges center section is highly customizable as is some of the 12" Uconnect - bottom row buttons and apps can be moved around.
I just bought a billet silver one. Tows my Momentum great!
Getting mine very soon
Love the black wheels.
That is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! 😍 😍
Love the look
Love the look of this truck. The wheels look great in black as does the trim. Needs a sunroof lol.
Heck I was happy when my 1986 4×4 Chevy Custom Deee-luxe Single Cab Short Bed had them new Electrified⚡Winders!
Shoot man this thing is something Crazy-Like
🤠 Yee-haw
My wife loves her 2017 RAM 3500 Cummings Diesel Dually in Red.
Love this one and the night package. I think in your other video you mentioned it was missing upfitter switches. You'd really miss that from your current truck.
The wheels look more like the plain old factory wheels. Maybe if they had more brushed aluminum on them to counter all the black. They just don’t look as high end as they should for a truck like that. I’m not a fan of a sunroof either.
Best choice ya ever made nothing beats a ram Cummins it’s all we buy
I hope that Ram added a heating element for the bottom mirror in the 2020 models. We use these trucks for snowplowing and you use the bottom mirror a lot for this type of work. The top mirror melts off great, but the lower is usually iced up and not usable. It is very annoying and can be dangerous not having visibility in both.
I have a 17 with the max tow package and I really like it. Air bags and exhaust brake are my favorite features.
Very nice truck 👌 Nice wheels to. I love my 18 black dually harvest edition Cummins 😎
Love the wheels
