“The Bizarre History of Frozen Baseball”
It’s February 4, 1861. The Brooklyn charter Oaks and Brooklyn Atlantics have organized an off-season baseball game in front of a sellout crowd to be played on a pond. The pond is frozen solid so players are required to wear skates while batting, fielding, pitching, and running the bases. 20 of the two teams players agree to play in the modified conditions, and what would follow would be one of the most insanely dangerous baseball games of all time.
