@Don't Read My Profile Photo spend all this time spamming multiple channels and still can't grow a following. Hold this L
Basically what went on inside my head when I did the same a few years ago... 😅
After last episode I was starting to think James was getting better mechanically and then he hacked apart the rear for no reason in this episode lmao I love it
I feel the same about myself sometimes... then I strip the top bolt on my new struts... shed a tear and order a new one to try again...

@@heygek2769 I've rebuilt probably 30-40 subarus in my old part time job, we're talking engine rebuild with struts, brakes, radiators and trans if needed, basically a 180-200k mile refresh on the car... the issues always start when working on a personal vehicle
Insert “he just like me, fr” meme.
One week I’m a master mechanic, the next week, I’m stripping bolts and breaking tools.
I feel low car has bumped up to borderline medium car. Parts are no longer eBay off brands. Which explains why it is performing much better than previous seasons. Just goes to show there can definitely be a good compromise between quality and price.
tbh i like this more compared to when they did bottom of the barrel low car ebay stuff
They learned their lesson, can’t just buy the cheapest stuff when it comes to safety. Suspension definitely falls under safety.
I think its the best balance for the show. The attainable version vs the money is no option version. Super super cheap china parts wouldnt be a good car and arguably would be unsafe… it makes more sense on a lot of levels to feature quality for the money options.
"Budget" means the lowest but best quality part. Not the lowest cost and quality.
@@Elver_Galarga_jugo Yeah, they actually replaced their original suspension from the first season because they just didn't trust it. Really can't cheap out on stuff that might kill you if it breaks.
The passion, humor, cost, struggle and Ws, Ls, twists in the whole HiLow series makes it one of the best series in the entirety of CZcams.

The best thing about Donut is that they always explain WHAT they are doing and WHY they are doing it. It's not only fun to watch, but also you can actually learn something in a really simple and visual way.
It's not like the subject matter is particularly difficult to grasp.. the technology is over a hundred years old which itself is based on scientific principles known to the world for a few hundred years
FACTS😁
@@hedonist2104 the age of the technology has no relevance to it's accessibility of understanding to the average person. the way it's presented does have an impact on its accessibility of understanding to the average person. what you are saying in the second sentence is complete non sequitur. there is no logical connection between the age of the technology and how easy it is to understand how it works.
@@hedonist2104 I mean yeah but the difficult part is translating that knowledge into something simple that everyone can understand. I've learned more with these guys in a few months than I've learned in my life.

I came here to say almost the exact same haha, especially if you had no idea who they were and then next thing you know your accident ends up on youtube for tons to see rip
But, that is super cool of Adam to help them out with another kit. The last thing you want to be dealing with on top of an accident is all the loss of what you just put into the car.
I definitely don’t envy them, nor their insurance company
Like Jobe said. The transmissions being different causes it to drift different. There is a lot more than just wheels, steering kits, etc. That goes into a drift car. So far low car is the winner in this showdown.
low car in general in low key cooler/better than hi car (imo)
Just proves that if you don't have clearly defined goals and the process mapped out to achieve them then no amount of money thrown at something can achieve them.
@@roxyroller25 about the real question about "is more expensive mor better?" it would be "it is worth spend more money?", because as we saw Low Car looks and it seems awesome at stabilizing in donuts.
So yeah, sometimes money isn't the issue, sometimes about just few tunes even as simple and very cheaper
High car needs a rear gear change
Now I will say personally though regardless of transmissions and stuff like that just to get to the point of low versus High car is I have a good guaranteed that the high car will Outlast the low car in terms of quality of parts in longevity of parts for instance those upper and lower control arms are going to outlast Megan racing I can guarantee that lol
Remember when we were still getting poorly lit James with cuts of Creedence Clearwater Revival inbetween during the 7 minute Up to Speeds? Absolutely mindblowing to see how fare Donut have come, amazing team with amazing work ethic

I love James and his single track mind 😂 “it doesn’t fit? Make it fit.”
Is James related to Jeremy Clarkson
I am so pumped for how…much better this season is going for locar? There’s no other way to put it! Engine swap has been kind to it, added equipment is providing killer results. I would drive that frankencar first I think! Would feel way less fiscally guilty about it, that’s for sure.
The beauty of lo-car, and other project/fun cars in a similar vein, is that you can run them at the edge and not worry about being spending thousands of dollars on repairs when something goes wrong, and that edge is a little closer compared to hi-car which means you're not getting in to fear territory. Kind of like how a 300cc motorcycle is way more fun to rip around on compared to a 1000cc street bike; sure the street bike has way more power and speed, but the edge of performance that's fun to drive at is way lower and safer for the 300cc bike.
It’s not been better to it’s looks. Poor things got a moose knuckle worse than a geriatric boomer wearing their khaki slacks too high.
@@Jonathan_Doe_ if would be cool if they turned that intake into a turbo
@@Jonathan_Doe_ only women care about that🥴. Men want speed and power first! Looks are further down the list. Especially if it's on a budget. The dude with the shit looking hoopty is just as if not more exciting to watch than the dude with the hyper car.
To be fair its because they want a drift car , unless you are going for a carrer with drifting , you dont really need alot of stuff other than some power and angle kit
Even angle kit you could skip but you would have to work harder to keep drifting
Not been disappointed with a single episode in this series! Keep it up
@Don't Read My Profile Photo I won't

As a long time alignment tech shout out to Donut for always looking out for the Alignment tech by getting new front end parts as close to straight as possible.

Actually suprising how good (and un-crashed) low car is.
I think the elephant nose gives her aesthetic.

These series are just so fun to watch, not only i enjoy them but i have learnt so much about cars along the way! Bravo!
I'm only 3 minutes in, and I can HEAR how much effort went into just the editing of the video. The entire Donut team is killing it!
You guys should do a “high low” type challenge where you have a certain budget to mod a car and you have to decide where to cut costs to get the best overall car in the end
Aka hoonigans build and battle
yeah like a $10k vs $20k budget to build the best drift car or off-roader or something along those lines
For racing, just go with 315 squared slicks, arb's, and suspension and you're done lol
Great job explaining Ackerman angle, I just went through a Nascar chassis setup course and the instructor didn't explain it nearly as well as you did, I feel like if he explained it like you did people wouldn't have gotten confused about it.
Please make more of this!! I cant get enough of high/low
I love to progression of high-low. It started as "a fun daily driver that you can also take to the track". Now it's like "F it, these are race cars"
Natural progress of a project car
Actually drift car project as the offroad ones, and using 350z because easy to get parts for being more "recent" and still supported.
@@CaliJLMN I was about to say that. Every project car without a clear purpose eventually becomes a "mostly street legal race car" more than a daily
You guys complimenting each others cars is the real deal! I love watching Hi/Lo
I really appreciate this video going in depth about all the different adjustments of the drift settings
I love this season! I think having the first season of both the Z's and Taco's being long format was awesome but this upgrade series is awesome in the short format. Great job as always Donut!
The amount of attention to detail in these videos is incredible, I just noticed they synced up Nolan saying "run out of angle" with Zach saying it in the car at 16:23
I wish there were steering angle kits for trucks especially for my truck when towing and parking
2:24 I can tell the editor is a Smash fan with that Bizzarro Flame
Jeremiah counting the threads made my day you have no ideas how annoying it is when I have to do an alignment and they don't count the threads it just wastes so much time. Real mechanic stuff right there
I think the difference in the parts is how long they'll last. Since the 8k looks really reinforced while the 1.5k kit is meant to just do the job.
the 8k kit didn’t even last a car wreck it wasn’t directly involved in. if that’s what you think reinforced looks like, you’re fucked
@@misseselise3864 they mentioned it was strapped by the wheels, that's alot of force to take in that area.
@@misseselise3864 Not a lot of suspensions last a car wreck, directly involved or not. You'll see most race cars retire after a shunt due to terminal suspension damage, does that make them poorly constructed? No, but suspensions are not meant to take crashes
Tubular suspension parts have been used in cars since before you were born and will likely still be used after you perish from this life. Many of these parts were installed in the 80s and continue to be driven on today.
There's literally nothing wrong with them. They are usually lighter than many of the crazy fabrications people come up with as well.
@@misseselise3864 No part is gonna withstand a wreck...
Hi-Low is eventually the best serie ever written by Donut Media. It combines all the stuff & expertise from the other series like Up To Speed, Bumper 2 Bumper, Wheelhouse and Money Pit.
Glad to see everyone working together on the project but what I like the most are the other team members who rarely have screen time pop up here and there in the video.
Hands down. Much effort has been invested in the project and the video montage.
Love the final analysis. The animation in this is great too
Curious if the ‘daily driver’ part will be tested. Have James and Nolan have to use the cars as modified for a month as their personal vehicles.
lol hi car has no A/C and they live in los angeles that would be miserable.
But it's high car, they could have A/C if they went through the hassle. Apparently air-conditioning isn't what they wanted to spend their money on.
@@davidvaughn7778 Incorrect. Their current engine mounts took up the slot of the AC compressor, leading them to run without it.
They would both get $1000 tickets for the modified exhaust alone, these cars cannot be driven on California roads "legally" whereas if they were in another state like North Carolina, then they would be fine
@@MoparGuyaqhave you ever spent any time in California..? Just because something is illegal doesn’t mean you’re gonna get in trouble for it 100% of the time. You’d need an obnoxiously loud exhaust to get that kind of hassle (way louder than these cars). The laws are pretty concrete but the application of those laws is a vast grey area, I can tell you from experience.
Throttle control is the first thing to master when you want to get better at drifting.
Sick upgrades and they make drifting so much more fun!!!
Yessir 👍
I have that exact carbon fiber Ridge wallet. I love this thing. I lost 1 screw after a year of having it.. But it had more included with it!
There is so much more than turning angle in the geometry that is at work behind that level of front end control. Firstly extending the control arms widens the track, at the same time increasing camber angle. But most importantly the caster angle is set so there is a larger "dead zone" and more a aggresive turn in requiring less steering input. Which reduces the tendency for the car to straighten out or oversteer.
I'd pick low car 9 times out of 10. It's exactly as advertised; reliable street car that can be taken to drift events and won't punish you in either scenario.
Love the new addition to the series but why is Aaron missing?

Bro this would’ve been devastating to a car enthusiast without the budget that Donut has. Insurance wouldn’t have covered that expensive suspension
insurance in your country sucks
You can insure those parts on your own insurance. It's just costs a little more. But the person that causes the wreck, their insurance is the one that has to cover it. And as long as they have insurance, they will pay for the parts they damaged. It doesn't matter if It's aftermarket. They damaged your property.
