My father in law played with him and said he was a genius batsman. He will drink himself to a stupor the previous night and had to be carried home and will come back the next day morning and score a magnificient century. Such was the genius of this man. I do not want to speculate about his private life and I have heard some stories from my father in law who himself played for Ceylon. Sometimes the greatest people have the worst flaws but who knows it is not for us to judge. We should celebrate his genius as probably a batsman on par with Don Bradman and unquestionably the greatest batsman produced by Sri Lanka ( my father in law who has passed away agrees after seeing Sathasivam , Aravinda, Sanga and Mahela bat) and leave his private life alone.
