  • Favorites in Archicad are critical to improved speed and consistency. They are the magic ingredient of a good template and key to a powerful workflow. In this video I don't do much that could be considered design. That's the point. I'm using my template, work environment, and Favorites to make creation easy. Think of this as sketching in Archicad.
One big item I forgot to mention in the video is how to switch between Objects (say in the Window Tool or Object Tool) and not lose all your Favorite's settings. I cover this in my old video on Parameter Transfer: • ArchiCAD Tutorial #40:...
The video goes into more detail, but on a Mac you hold down Option + Command before clicking on a different Object in the Selection Settings. On a PC it'll be the same, but a slightly different keyboard shortcut. If that doesn't make sense, watch the other video in the link above.
00:00 Intro (why I did this video)
    00:45 Accessing Favorites
01:37 Picking a Starting Point to Model
    02:45 Starting the Model (Walls)
    04:25 Doors and Windows
    05:25 Tub, Sink, Toilet
    07:50 Floors and Ceilings
    08:30 Wall Tile and Baseboard
    10:05 Bathroom Accessories
    13:40 Electrical
15:40 Annotation and creating an Interior Elevation
    18:15 Interior Elevation refinement
    23:25 3D Model refinement
    24:24 Placing Views on Sheets
26:24 Wrap Up (looking at Views)
27:00 Outro (what we just did and a reminder to get the Shoegnome Open Template)
The original blog post this video is here:

This video was created using the Shoegnome Open Template and the Shoegnome Work Environment for Archicad 26. Links below:

As always the template and work environment are free; a good Archicad template (and work environment) is too important to horde. If you want to click the PayPal button on the template or work environment pages to support my endeavors and encourage future development, that's wonderful. Whenever people do that, it makes my day.

This video is EXACTLY what I needed to see. Watching you use your template is extremely helpful. I learned at least 10 new shortcuts and tools. Watched it twice and likely will again. Thank you for making it, Jared.

Hi, I wanted to let you know that this video is very useful for me. As a young architect's graduate who worked in a residential firm and got complained about my software skill I find this video really open the door for me again to step into architecture industry. I have lost hope recently and quit that job because it is really dramatise me. I wanted you to know that your video is amazing. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for sharing. Don't give up. There are a lot of toxic people and firms out there. And plenty of good firms that just are a bad fit. You'll find a good place to work.
