- With little sign of an end to Israel's assault on Gaza, older generations of Palestinians are watching events with horror - and recognition. While many might remember what Palestine looked like before the war of 1967, few are alive to recall life before Israel's creation in 1948. Joel Flynn has been sitting down with one of those few - a Palestinian who once fled to Lebanon - and now, once again, finds herself running from violence that has plagued the region since she was a child.

As a survivor of the 7/10 massacre, I feel for this lady. I hope one day both Palestinian and Israeli leaders could sign a peace treaty that would bond us as neighbors and not enemies, once and for all.

She didn't say why she left. We need to know why there are 1948 Israeli-Arabs and Palestinians. What did they do different from the other Palestinians for them to live in Israel as equals.

It's called selective narrative.
Some of the Arabs decided to run to Jordan/Lebanon untill the Arab armies would wipe out the Jews, but they failed and these people got stuck there, without getting passport and citizenship of the new post-British state. It was their own mistake. The Arabs who stayed got Israeli passports.
Of course it's not the story of everyone, some fled on their own idea and some were pushed out.
However, you notice she doesn't say what was their reason to leave their home, so it could align with each side's narrative.
why did some jews survive the Holocaust while others died?
My grandfather left Palestine because they executed and killed 455 people on the outskirts of his village, so he feared for his life and fled to Jordan, where he lived for a few years in extreme poverty, to the point that one of his children almost died of hunger.
