What a coincidence. My husband was telling me about tater tot casserole a few days ago, and I had never heard of it either. He used to work as a head chef in an assisted living (elderly) home. He said all the old folks requested and loved tater tot casserole! Now he’s going to make it for me. I love all forms of potatoes 🥔❤️ Thanks for another great video!
It looks delicious 😋 I love how encouraging you are in your cooking videos for people just to have a go!
Thanks so much! 😊
Whenever you make these cooking videos, I instantly fall asleep within 10 minutes so thank you so much 😊
At first I was worried there would not be a mixing bowl parade but was delighted when they made an appearance. This recipe sounds yummy and I am sure going to try it. Thanks Mary -- have a wonderful weekend.
In Minnesota we call it Tater Tot Hot Dish 🤣 It’s a staple for most households! We almost never use the word casserole….only hot dish.
Was wondering how many other Minnesotans I'd find. It just sounds so weird to hear it not end in hotdish lol I tried to explain to someone once the difference between hotdish and casserole. I said when it's called hotdish, the casserole dish is what you cook the hotdish in lol
@@katstorm13 another minnesotan!!
Love me some tater tot casserole! I sometimes pre-bake my tots for extra all-over crunch. PS I had to restart this so many times. It kept soothing me to sleep.
This is an absolute STAPLE in my household since childhood! I'm in Colorado and yes we call it "hot dish." 🤣
Anyone who can make a 10 minute recipe into 42 minute soporific bliss is a genius. I absolutely love this - and I would never eat that many carbs! One of the best ASMR videos EVER.
Thank you so much for helping us on sleepless nights!
I'm going to tell you Mary and my brother highly disagrees with me. If Thanksgiving dinner doesn't have a buffet of casseroles... I ain't coming.
if only tater tot casserole was a thanksgiving dish... id celebrate every month lol much better than green bean casserole imo
Mary you are just adorable, everything about this is so comforting. And your sense of humour is amazing. It’s 10am in the uk, I haven’t had breakfast yet and I’m a vegetarian, I’m ready to eat this xx
Dear Mary, I always appreciate all your videos very much, but after watching your latest video on your other channel "Everyday Mary" I appreciate all the effort you put into it even more.
I am going through something very similar to yours although for different reasons. My brain never stops, I keep thinking about the same things without being able to find a solution to my problems. I am so stress ed out and tired, so I understand you very well.
I really hope you can find another job very soon. ❤❤❤
Sending you many positive thoughts!
Please excuse me if I made many mistakes, but I am not a native English speaker.
So I’m at home, doing some chores around the house, and I’m absolutely cackling at the phrase “meat diaper” 🤣
You are just the sweetest! Love your work! 🙏🏻
I’ve been LOVING your cooking videos!! Tried this recipe out today!! Was SO yummy💗
I will definitely be giving this one a try. Thank you for sharing Mary 😊
That looks like something my husband would really like. Right up his alley. Happy St. Patrick's Day! 😊 🍀
I love tater tot casserole! Def one of my fav southern dishes that reminds me of my Ganma. Everytime my family and I go to Tennessee my Ganma makes this for us, and it’s one of my comfort foods.
My 3 year old and I love watching your cooking videos. He always loves when you show the mixing bowls! He says the green is his favourite 😂💚
That casserole looks yummy! It reminds be of shepards pie but with the tater tots instead of mashed potatoes! 😋
Happy Saint Patrick's Day Mary 🍀☘️
The ground beef mixture looks yummy enough as a standalone dish😋
I felt a little anxiety welling because I hadn't seen your beautiful mixing bowls and THEN...phew! 😁 I love when you taste your food. Looks and sounds SO good! Gonna have to try. xoxo
I loved this video as I was preparing a roast for dinner was watching this and felt inspired to cook more thank you !
Omg as a brit, thats the correct pronunciation of Worcestershire sauce. That makes me so happy🤣🤣
Thank you so much for this video! I have two very picky toddlers and I'm always looking for new recipes to try. This is simple and looks like it would taste good. I'd probably add a bit more veggies but otherwise it's definitely going on the menu!🙂
You are so welcome!
I loooved this video, thank you Mary 😊
And thank you so much for showing what products are exactly... I'm not in the US and am not familiar with some of the ingredients, so it helps a lot to understand the dish 🙂
And I honestly want to try to do it now
As always, the cooking videos are a favorite.
In Britain, we know Tater Tots as Potato Croquettes. I recognise them from your description and when you show it on the screen. However Potato Croquettes are not as popular as chips are in Britain. We eat far more chips than any other potato based product. Other interesting comparison, we know "ground beef" in Britain as "minced beef" but it's exactly the same product.
Long time subscriber, first time commenter by the way. I love your channel. All the best. 😊😊😊👍👍👍
Mary's matching green outfit is on point for St. Patty's Day today.💚 They say variety is the spice of life so these cooking videos are always spicy!🔥
Irish here. Paddy’s day*
Sincerely, every Irish person ever 😂 Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona☘️
@@jennifertaylor7388 Oh! I was shortening Patrick! My bad! And my Grandma came from good Irish stock too! Thanks! 😄
Finally, someone else who hates mushroom as much as I do! I don't feel crazy now. Thanks Mary. 😌❤️ This casserole looks delicious. I really really hope #youtube gets their shit together so you can continue to earn your money and make as much content as you do. You're one of the most hard working content creators I watch and SHAME ON YOU #CZcams for not following up with her on your mistakes.
Mushrooms are so disgusting 😊
They’re the worst!
I’m allergic to mushrooms, so it’s nice to see a recipe without them!
I hate them too! I was so happy when she grabbed that cream of chicken soup in Walmart! 😅
Yeah they're foul 🤢🤢🤢
This was so relaxing!! Just what I needed today.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This looks delicious Mary! I like your outfit! Yesterday was my daughter's birthday so I didn't see your video! I'm going to make this dish! Thank you for the fun video!
Hi Mary! Another great video. Love seeing the American dishes as I live in North East Scotland 😁
Mary you're spoiling us with the cooking videos😍🙏thank you
What a fab idea - I love things like shepherds pie but it's quite a labour intensive dish, this gives much the same effect but much easier. You can use that cream of chicken soup to make a sauce for a lovely chicken and onion pie too.
Thanks Mary for posting this video. My husband still has a junior high fixation with tater tots. This caserole would be a change of pace for me to make.
One of my favorites on YT is Clair Saffitz. During her time at Bon Appetit, she did a series called "Gourmet Makes" where she try to make improved versions of popular foods. Tater Tots was one.
This was the most relaxing ASMR video i have ever watched! thank you!!
Lv ur videos
. Thx for entertaining and teaching us😊
I’ve been having a rough couple of months and now have Covid, feeling depression kick in, but found a moment of peace watching this video, thanks!
Covid is just a mild flu. You’ll be fine
Take good care, sweetiegirl.
Excellent, yummy video, Ms. Mary!! Wish we can join you, it looks so good. Will save this video for future reference 😊😊
Yumm!! I need casserole ideas to put in the freezer before my 2nd baby comes!
we call Tater Tots potato gems over here in australia
My dad was the same way. He didn't like food mixed up, so no casseroles for us either. (I love them now.) Now I'm craving tater tots, I'll have to get a bag.
Another great cooking video! Thanks, as always.
while i’m at odds with you as a fanatic mushroom lover, i always love your cooking videos! i would also recommend that you try making a tater tot breakfast casserole, with eggs, peppers and onions, sausage or bacon, and cheese. i don’t have a go-to recipe, but there are loads of them that you can find online. so easy and delicious and one of my favorite breakfast dishes!
I’ve had this before!! It’s so good.
One of my favorites! My mouth is watering 😋 Also your apron is awesome!
Love the apron, love the kitty, love the video!
I loved watching and can't wait to try. 😃🤗
I'm only 1.30 min in, but I tried tot-chos and those are amazing too. Tatertots instead of tortilla chips in nachos. Yummm.
Of course Mary has to show us her beautiful bowls💕
Best looking cook on CZcams in my opinion
We call them potato gems in Australia 😊
haha that’s so cute
This looks delicious. Harvest could substitute Beyond Burger and Soya cheese and would approve. Happy St Patricks Day!👨🍳🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀
I love your cooking videos Mary! 🫶🏼
Looks really tasty, thank you for sharing. No ads at the beginning or the end, Ad blocker is OFF.
Loved the little edit with the 'kitty' text! So hilarious
A POTATO GEM!! Here in Australia anyways! Loving this idea
By far my favorite videos thanks mary
I wanna eat some tater tot casserole now! Thanks Mary for the lovely video as usual 💖
That casserole example you gave with a door handle and a Chevy Chevette cracked me up!
That Worcester sauce bottle is giving me flash backs. I used to work at a Walmart and I had a 8 bottles in a pack if I remember correctly, that were on a cart to go to the back room becaue the shelves and top stock were full...I turned a corner and something knocked it off and busted a couple of the bottles...the back room smelled like a stake house for about a good hour or so. 😂😂😂😂
I have the same plates I love them lol! Dollar tree is my favorite place 😊. Maybe you could do a green bean casserole next?!?
I love casseroles. They may not be too pretty once served up but man bite in and they can curl your toes, they're so good.
Well what can I say, I think I could just watch and listen to you read off the phone book lol 😂
Another great vid
I made this after I watched this but I used cream of potato soup. Yummy
Tater tots in the uk are called potato croquetts
They do look very similar
Fantastic, unbeatable.
Oh Thank you Lord. It's so great to know that, I'm not the only one who calls it, "the meat diaper". 🤣🤣🤣 You're awesome, Mary.👍😍👍
Wow, it looks delicious 😋
If you're looking for a new recipe to try, I had found one my mom cut out of a magazine for Chocolate-earl grey cake. I don't know which magazine but by the looks of the page, it might be Real Simple magazine. It's not a difficult recipe IMO but I had never heard of one using tea in it and my stove/oven isn't working at the moment, so I can't try it out.
You need to get you one of those meat chopper tools. Works well when you are cooking any ground meat. Love your voice ❤.
In Minnesota here.. It’s called Tator Tot Hotdish.. it’s absolutely yummy!
Yum😊 I can smell this ground beef and onions no kidding
I live in Germany and you cannot get tater tots here. What we have here, and perhaps an equivalent, is what we call Kroketten. They're basically mashed potatoes in the same form as tator tots.
I’m going to make this tomorrow
"A doorhandle and a Chevy Chevette" 🤣
I heard sometimes it calls for freshly shredded because the bag shred is coated with a cornstarch mix to help the shreds not stick together in the bag and the bagged can taste different than the freshly shredded. So I'm assuming that's why they said to freshly shred it maybe because of the taste. I've never noticed a taste diff tho. This dish looks good tho. 👍
I've heard the stuff they use to keep shredded cheese from sticking to itself also keeps it from melting the same way, so that might be it. Though similarly, I've never really noticed a difference between pre-shredded Mozzarella and what I've shredded for pizza, so maybe it's more noticeable with other types of cheese?
I love tator tots, this sounds yummy, now if I could just make it in a smaller batch.
Looks yummy!
Always hear about this but neve tried it or making it, but now maybe I will, thanks!
I find that the tater tots are just a little bit too bulky so we use shredded hash brown O’Brien, which has onions and peppers and then when we top ours, it makes it so much better
What could I use in place of the Worcester sauce?
It looks delish 😋😋😋😋
I love Tater Tot Casserole
Popular here in the Midwest.
Agree...very popular in the Midwest! I'm from Minnesota and this is a standard in most households with those that grew up here. Mary was right...so many ways to make it. I've had some that I really liked and others not so much. Thanks for making this nostalgic "hot dish", Mary! 😄
@@heidisolomonson Wisconsin here.
I love your videos so much! 💕
Thank you so much!!
@@SouthernASMRSounds I hope you never stop making content! Believe me you’re truly a blessing to the ASMR community and honestly even if it isn’t ASMR your videos are always so wonderful to watch!
I have a Blue Q apron, too! I love it! 🤣
I saw you doing the shopping and I was wondering wat a Tater tot casserole was😊
Great video, I personally like using cream of celery soup and don't care for the texture the low sodium gives, but try it and I'm gonna try the cream of chicken soup too ! Thanks Mary
I lived in Minnesota until I was almost 9. We called them hotdishes and then we moved to Ohio. I think that's when we start calling them casseroles. Just like we used to call sofas davenports. Crazy, huh!
"Meat diaper"!! You made my day much better! 😂❤
😁
YUM. thanks mary 😊
I like the TASTE of mushrooms but not the texture. I'm big on umami flavor. I feel you so much! if it has even the tiniest bit of mushroom that is not ground into a fine powder I tend to gag lol
“That sounds healthy” 😂
Up north we call this Tator-tot hotdish
I like the sour cream idea.
Totally agree on the mushroom thing, they are so gross. Would have used Cream of Chicken too.
Thank you for describing the tater tots, no clue whats those are. We call them here aardappelkroketjes, same shape also!
I agree! Mushrooms are disgusting. I despise them too.
Hi Mary!😊❤
