I understand that Trump's words can be understood in different ways, and I respect your view even if I don't happen to agree with you. I just wanted to say that because I hate all the fighting people are doing these days, and it's important for me to let people know that I'm not here for a fight or a challenge, I'm just sharing my opinion. It's easy to get worked up over such important issues, but I'm just not one to jump down someone's throat over a difference of opinion; we're better than that!😉 So, now that that is out of the way, here's my thoughts on the call... (Side note: Something I hate almost as much as Americans fighting other Americans, is writing a sentence that includes "that that". 🙄 I don't know why but it drives me up a wall. I freakin' wrote a sentence, one time, that had "that that" AND "it it" in it....that's a double whammy, right there. So annoying, like BIGLY annoying!)
What I read is, "I would like you to do us a favor though.", wherein:
"I" = Trump
"you" = Ukraine
"us" = my campaign
"a favor" = publicly announce an investigation into the Bidens
"though" = in order for me to give you the military aid we spoke of
🤷🏼♀️ That's what I understand it to mean.
I don't want to think our president would do something like that, but I think he did. Not just because of the words spoken in that call, but when I look at the big picture there's no doubt that's what was going on.
Trump has said that he held back the aid because he feared they were corrupt. Ok, but if he thought them to be corrupt, why on Earth would he have asked a corrupt system to take on an investigation of such importance? That just doesn't square up.
Also, trump didn't seem to mind giving them aid in 2017 and 2018, but all of a sudden he held it up in 2019, right after Biden announced his run.
The biggest problem I have with it is the fact that Trump wanted President Z to make a public announcement. If Trump was actually concerned about corruption, it would be sufficient for Z to just do an investigation; a public announcement of it, wouldn't be necessary at all. The only thing a public announcement of an investigation into the Bidens would do, would be to damage his campaign. That's why Trump wanted it; Trump doesn't give a shit about corruption, he never has, and he still doesn't.
This is a pattern with Trump; in 2016 he asked for Russian assistance on live TV, and when it was offered, it was welcomed. When asked, in an televised interview, what he would do if he were to be approached by someone offering foreign assistance with his campaign, he said he didn't know and that he might inform the FBI after looking at the information offered; a blatant disregard for our federal laws. The only answer to that question is "No. I wouldn't accept the offer, and I would notify the FBI immediately.". Now we have this situation with Ukraine. He asked them to investigate a political opponent on the call, and on the lawn twice more...and one of the times he also asked China to investigate the Bidens.
To me, this is much more than a few words said on a phone call (which were damning enough), this is about the manner in which Trump does "business"... All of his relationships and interactions are transactional, which is fine when it comes to his businesses as a private citizen, but as the president of the United States, it's wholly inappropriate and in some cases illegal.
If he were really concerned about corruption, there are appropriate channels by which his concerns should be expressed and handled.
One last thing I've been hearing a lot that, in my opinion, is simply ridiculous, is the idea that both Trump and president Z said there was "no pressure.". Gimme a freaking break!🙄 1. Of course Trump would say he didn't pressure President Z. 2. President Z is trying to keep his people safe, and he needs our aid to do that. He knows that if he were to be honest, he'd be risking not getting that money anymore. As is widely known, anyone who has said anything bad about Trump, gets written off by him. Hell, Trump has already threatened to cut off all federal funding to California because they're "never-trumpers"! In my opinion, the same thing is going on with our Republican lawmakers. They know that if they were to criticize Trump, for even the smallest thing, Trump will destroy them. He's done it before and he'll do it again. He threatened to pull his endorsement from all of the Republicans, who are up for election, if they were to support Impeachment. He even told them they wouldn't get any donations from his family or anyone associated with them. I've been a Republican my entire life, and I never thought I'd see anything like this... I no longer recognize my party, and I want nothing to do with this new GOP. They're afraid of the president. They'll do whatever they have to to stay on his good side, because they know if they don't, hell turn his base against them. Everyone who has criticized Trump has ended up needing extra security due to the death threats they receive from some of his supporters. Everyone! That's not ok.
True leaders earn support through mutual support and respect, not through fear. I say this because I can't believe that every one of them actually believe all of his bullshit...I know they're smarter than that, yet they go right along with whatever crazy thing comes flying out of him. There are a few, like First Lady Lindsey, Kremlin Kennedy, Gym Jacket-Off Jordan, Moscow Mitch, Crappy Chair Collins, Do You Know Who My Father Is Gaetz, and a few others, that I think really do genuinely support Trumplethinskin and all his dealings, but the rest....no way! (Sorry for all the name calling. It's not a regular thing with me but I figured I'd just have a little fun and go big!😉)
Ok, enough is enough! Sorry again for the length, but I did give you fair warning before you got started...it's on you at this point. 😉 As I said before, I'm not here to shit talk or fight, so please know if I said anything that insulted or disrespected you, it was not my intention and I'm so sorry if that's the case. When one leader wants or needs something from another, they always have some kind of leverage over the other. Whether it's ethical or legal or not, is always going to be questioned by people. World politics is all about, I say again, all about this for that. If you want or do this, I'm willing to give you, or do that. If you don't stop doing that, I won't give you this, or I will do this to you. In this instance, the Ukrainian prosecutor that was investigating the company that had Hunter Biden on its Board was fired after Vice President Biden told the Ukrainians that they're not getting any money until the prosecutor gets fired. Obviously he was speaking on behalf of President Obama. The prosecutor got fired, and the Ukrainians got their money. Now that was a black and white portrayal of quid pro quo. So here's the rub and quite possibly the strategy being used by the Trump Administration, in my view, remember Trumps conversation never stated 'you're not getting any money until you investigate the Bidens' or anything of the sort. I think these are the strategic possibilities. 1. the phone call was orchestrated to hook the impeachment crazed crazies into impeachment mode so they can work on bigger things without the crazies meddling. 2. the phone call was orchestrated to possibly ferret a suspected leaker in the group. And 3. if the impeachment crazed cazies get hooked on impeachment and have a good case, they''ll have legal leverage to prosecute or persecute, former president Obama and Vice President Biden. Or, all the before mentioned. If those were the planned outcomes of that phone call, it looks like the plan is working well, in my view. And I'm good with that, because however jacked up Trump may be, I'll take him over the Progressive, Socialist, Communist, Globalist that are driving the Democratic Party and some Republicans of the day.
