As a software engineer, I can pull my codebase online (or from my company's network) and I can work "locally" without the internet. I can go to the beach for 3 days and complete my work with or without the internet. People can always choose to work anywhere; I personally love working in an office while also have the liberty to work in a cabin somewhere.

I'm not a huge fan of Apple, but I'm impressed that the vision remained more or less consistent for the past 35 years.
