These guys were not young arrogant billionaire. They were true patriot, fighting for the green, red and yellow jersey with pride and dignity. I was 9 when we won the ACN in Abidjan. I remember. I had tears in my eyes when I heard that "Docta" as we knew him passed away.
RIP Docta. A lion never dies it just sleeps

RIP Theophile Abega, From Nigeria. Just imagine the 1-2 pass he made with his teammate for that second goal. He left the Nigerian defence for dead

    T.Abega,Mamilo,l.Mbassi ,Onana Eloundou Rip .

No surprises here because this was a good Cameroon team with Milla in it...Remember they left the 1982 World Cup undefeated.

Bock Jagne You're absolutely right. Also not forgetting that even the World champions at the 1982 World Cup, Italy, could not defeat them ( Cameroun). They drew 1 - 1

Bock Jagne I am a Nigerian, but let's give credit where credit is due. The Cameroun team of the 80s really tried. They won Afcon 84 and 88, but could have won three times in a row (84, 86 & 88). They were only unlucky to loose to host country Egypt in the Final in 86 via penalties. And their Performance in Italia 90 World Cup was great.

Ademola Koledowo Yeah absolutely right. They were a really good side during the 80's, I agree.

Excellent team in that era,Cameroon did well at Espana 82 and they built on that by winning 2 out of the next 3 AFCON titles ( unlucky not win 3 in a row) and then of course entertaining at Italia 90.I love that 2nd goal, the surging run from Abega,1-2 with Milla and then slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

The only AFcon trophy genuinely won by Cameroun against Nigeria was this match. others were 'stolen' victories - Maroc 88 & most painfully right at out backyard in Lagos 2000. Confident justice will be done one day!
