The Gravedigger's Truth: Coronavirus hits Somalia - BBC Africa Eye documentary

  • In Somalia, two young doctors are in the fight of their lives. As the coronavirus begins to claim its first victims, they volunteer in the capital’s only designated Covid-19 ward.
Despite their bravery, people are dying because the hospital lacks vital medical equipment. Officially, fewer than 100 Somalis have been killed by Covid-19. But BBC Africa Eye goes to one of the city’s main cemeteries, where the gravediggers tell a different story.

@Paul Hoye I am a recovered Covid-19 patient from Nigeria. Corona virus is not a lie. It's not a death sentence but, if not aggressively handled early it's a sure death sentence. May I add, treating full blown Covid-19 is not cheap at all. It's better to prevent it than to cure it.
We Africans have gone into "fake news" syndrome too I see... all thanks to Donald Trump... Calling a piece of news "fake" does not make it so as Donald trump is about to find out.

How much I am paid to troll? How preposterous!
Did you read the comments someone wrote asserting that one of the patients that died was his father? The doctor said he had covid, we saw his thoracic x-ray then he died and you think the son and the doctor are in a conspiracy to confuse the public. I go ogled the person that claimed its his father and I can testify to the fact that it's true they are father and son.
I am an almost sixty year old Nigerian... I testified that my wife, four children and I tested positive for Covid-19, we were quarantined, treated and we all recovered... As evidence that the Corona virus is real and Covid-19 is real too.
I made the comments because someone said the video documentary we watched is fake.
You come on here to pour out invectives and suggested that I am paid to write what I wrote?
It's fine, keep living in cookoo land with your conspiracy theories... Don't protect yourself and your loved ones... Unfortunately we will never know if anything up close and personal happened to you.

@@princetom9671 How is it fake bro? This is a documentary. Are you suggesting that the official number of covid death by the government (100) is correct? The increase in Graves says otherwise. Kano in Northern Nigeria insisted it was fake news too when people reported a spike in Graves and burial... But, when it got critical they quickly asked for help and declared an emergency. The quicker this disease is stemmed the better... There is no better way to fight it globally than by being open about it and taking pre emptive action. Stay home, stay safe, wear a mask, wash your hand frequently and maintain social distance...by a recovered Covid-19 patient from South West Nigeria.

@@princetom9671 With all due respect sir... Did you read that I and my family had Covid-19?
So the loss of sense of smell, loss of sense of taste, lethargy, feeling of fluid gradually seeping into my lungs, prolonged chest and body ache was fake in my family?
Bros, I've lived on four continents and as an AA genotype I've had my fair share of illnesses... What I went through is new... It's a new combination of symptoms and it's not fake.
I can safely say it felt like malaria, thphoid without the stooling, plus drowning without being in water plus I can't explain the loss of the sense of smell and taste... The taste begins to fade and after a while sour, and salty things appear tasteless then you cannot taste sweet things... The last taste to go is the taste of bitterness... At that point, everything tastes bitter... Then nothing tastes anymore. Meat tastes like you are eating old rags and foofoo tastes like you are eating odorless half frozen butter. It may be anything but, it's not fake... It's real sir!
