As an optometrist who has examined and diagnosed many Retinitis Pigmentosa. I'm pained that any doctor will give such false hope to patients. It is unethical and cruel. There's no cure of RP at this time. Of course research is continuous, but still no cure in 2023.

Hi this is Ramadan younes , the presenter of the film and I’d like to thank you for watching the film. We all as journalists, doctors and even patients have a vital role in raising awareness that there is no approved treatment for RP so far except the one designed for patients with a very specific genetic mutation.

@@ruffkoins2804 For those of you who may not know, amblyopia is the medical term for "Lazy Eye." One or both eyes will deviate to the side or center while you are focused on an object.
There are 6 muscles that control the eye. top, bottom, outside, and inside. plus two muscles that attach at angles of the eyeball.
Treatment for this varies. Early treatment is highly recommended. Because the brain over time will reduce confusion by rewiring the neuropathways, ignoring one eye and only interpreting the signal from the other eye.
Treatment early on (before age 13) may include:
-wearing a patch over the strong eye to help the brain to recognize the signals from the weak eye.
-Atropine eye drops in the strong eye to blur its function to the brain.
-Addition of special focus glasses when the patch is not being worn.
Starting Treatment as an Adult can be helpful, but it requires a lot of work that is not always as successful.
      -Patch
      -Glasses
-Vision therapy. Vision treatment is a collection of workouts, as well as tasks, that aid a person to enhance their visual skills.

We must also understand that the word "treat" does not necessarily translates to cure. This style of language is underhanded and unethical because the doctor wants to come back and refute any complain that may arise down the line in saying that he/she said they will "treat" meaning that any action done to address the condition and he/she did not promise to remove the problem. It is a cruel practice and health authorities should prevent doctors from using such phrases as they are misleading and create false hope. Many months or year down the line, patients are the ones who suffer dire consequences.

Perhaps Ramadan might consider future interviews to investigate some amazing new innovative technology for blind persons. Microsoft & others have some amazing new resources. I’ve seen a program in which special glasses describe whats in front & around you (facial descriptions, etc) Just saw an app that can used to direct a blind person by sound. Until this disease can be cured perhaps encourage others with news of new & updated help. My heart goes out to all with vision impairment (as I have myself). ❤🇨🇦

You won’t see a story on that because it’s a non -issue , basically a conspiracy theory that has been repeatedly debunked by medical professionals , actual scientists and organizations . So no, you wouldn’t see that on the bbc because they are a reputable news agency

How about Dr. Sebi on the herbal remedies that he developed? Though he is diseased, there are quite exquisite results of his work on treating blindness. Where western medicinals don't prevail, alternative herbs do nurture the life aspects of energy, restores balance and eventually heal such inconsistencies of the body.

That is absurd. Herbs cannot reverse genetic code and cure these conditions. If they could, why are Dr. Sebi's patients silent?
