- Mega short session trying to catch perch on small lures! The reason I went to this spot was because I saw some decent perch while pikefishing, but there kinda hard to find with micro lures!

I found dropping the jighead weight down to 0.8g on a 2" soft lure works like magic. Beat my local canal's record for perch with it. Found out the perch couldn't hit the lure on the quicker drop in the shallows.

It might be because of the amount of money ive spent this week getting all my pike lure gear . I blame you for making fantastic and addictive videos .
It all turned up today . I cant wait to try it all on my local canal .
Ive tried the BFS fishing . Theres hardly any perch in there judging by the amount ive blanked . Hopefully its because theres a ton of pike in there and they ate them all .

Those fox micro spikey fry are very effective, i use them all the time for perch. Hard to find now though. I don't think fox make them anymore.. gunki tipsy-s are a good alternative.

Fox Rage Ultra UV Micro Fry 4cm if anyone is interested are really hard to find.ive got the original spikey ones and I've had tons of fish on them 100% my best lures I've had pike to 12lb on them I'm gutted fox have stopped making them it's crazy

That is indeed something I don't understand. I have been perchfishing for 9 days in a row and didn't catch anything. I guess I need a new set of capabilities. Incredible how much I suck at fishing. BTW the narrow stone he's standing on in the beginning of the video, I'd already be swimming instead of fishing.

You must be fishing the Trent and Mersey canal like me! Very few perch! Should be rammed! Those damn cormorants I reckon! They had a field day during lock down one - no boats no people!

Micro lures are very effective for perch , a great had a great days fishing recently using them ,I lost count of fish I caught, as in the video I also caught a pike of a similar size , which was fun on light tackle ,use the micro lures in little back waters of the main river you could be surprised at what lurkes in there
These are my favourite lures out there atm, had all my PB fish on them, elephants eat peantuts
I was fishing this summer on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and the gentleman at the bait & tackle shop said the same thing to me! I was attempting to purchase some 2 / 0 hooks but he insisted upon my buying some Size 8 hooks and said "Elephants eat peanuts!"

Nice one. You're using exactly the same setup as me! Spro Micro Jighead 3 gram size 4 and Fox micro spikeys right? It's an awesome combination - if there's predators in the water it will catch them :)

DB top videos been looking at lot of them some top stuff on your site,,, what is best lb in braid I just got 15lb maxima is that to lite r should I got up bit more, I got spinning traces aswell,,
That'll work just fine just play the fish with your drag and you're good. I caught my pb pike 41" on 15 pound test braid

You just used Fluorocarbon for a leader for these little lures no wire ? Thanks
you only really need wire leader if you expect bigger pikeperch or pike to attack your bait. which is unlikely with these small lures

Either the above suggestion or check out Needham’s tackle. Chinese rods with fittings that would be 4x the price in the uk. Deff worth a look.
Okay im desperate. Ive been trying to catch a perch for 12 days now. Ive used microjigs, small crankbaits, stickbaits, dropshot rigs and even though it is cold i also tryed a float with a huge worm. None of them worked so now im just surfing on CZcams trying to find a tutorial. The conditions in our river are : maximum 2 meters deep, grass and branches everywhere, dark water (i know there are perch there but i am unable to catch them) I have tryed new spots but i just ended up walking 1.5 km without even a SINGLE fish touching my micro lure. Can you suggest some lures and their colors? I cant find a new spot since i am young and dont have a car. And there is plenty of perch but it just seems that their mouthes are locked. What can i do to repair it??

Dan your content is very repetitive. It would be nice to know rod, casting weight, line, reel, net and rig/trace Instead of just what lure. I do enjoy seeing you catching fish but I’m not learning anything!

Are you in a hurry
Why do anglers piss about tightening and loosening the drag when playing fish.
If your drag is set correctly for the breaking strain of your line you should never need to touch the drag
You've never caught pike on ultralight, have ya? If you have the drag set according to the breaking strain of your leader, a somewhat decent pike will take all the line off of your spool, you need to tighten down and play the fish.

I have been fishing for over 40 yrs and caught loads of pike thanks .
I don't have to adjust my drag every time I catch a fish.
And yes I fish ultra light .
Have for a number of years.
Using upto 6lb braid to a 3 or 4 lb fluorocarbon leader.
With ultra light micro jig heads as small as a size 12 0.4g.
Even 0.6g cheb rigs on a 14 hook with 1" lures.
I have never had any problems with pike stripping line when I hook them.
But that's me.
Come down and we will go fishing together and you will see for yourself m8.
But if I do hook into something big then yes I might tighten my drag but not for every fish.
That's what I was getting at.
Just some anglers always adjusting the drag on every fish they catch.
So please don't say I don't do ultralight fishing when clearly you know nothing about me.
Mate, really enjoy the vids. How about a wet cloth to hold those fish with? Certainly increases their chances of surviving
