Oh and gnarly old bloodwoods like that are what we used to save up for wood customers that wanted to whinge about something every time you delivered there. 1 load of that and they went elsewhere! 😜😁 And, as another old timer in the trade once noted, you always chuck a couple in like that. That way they are never quite out of wood when they call you. 😈
Hi John and Pat. Hope you had a great day cutting the Bloodwood. You weren't kidding about its strength, you can see the hydraulic arm was struggling to push it against the blade.
You are lucky if the sun has finally come out again down there John! The Tablelands and coast up here is still bloody miserable. Reminds me of 1 wet season many years ago when we had to pack rock into the ruts into the shed just to drive the old Tojo out! A neighbour sent some beasties to Townsville the other day. Had to tow the truck away from the ramp. Didn't do much for Mum's lawn! Leeches crawl up your legs on any trip outside now. 😱🙄
She's been a wet one starting to get cold as well. The climate alarmists will recon the sky is falling. When we sailed our boat down from Port Douglas it was miserable weather and its still the same just more wind. Seems like it will never end. John
G’day, John & Pat. I’m so glad you have finally got a little bit of sunshine. Down here in Tassie, we are in drought. It’s terrible and just so dry with no rain until June apparently? Fires have started in some areas and we’ve been making fire breaks all around the property. I’ve also been cutting wood and splitting firewood as winter is on its way. I’m glad that I have my Perla Barb 62cc and 70Cc also, great chainsaw’s…. All the best to you both.
Hello John and Pat, you two make a great team. You seem to have had allot of rain. I know that everyone needs rain and I shouldn’t complain because I do fire prevention clearing. As well as land clearing. I also do allot of fence repairing while I’m flailing as both of my mower types are hungry for fence wire. I run a couple of mulcher type heads on my mini track loaders and excavators as well as flail mowers. It seems a minor amount of rain and warm weather makes the grass grow so fast. Thanks for the video I enjoy them… John
I remember last year when the paddocks were burnt down with the heat and lack of rain. Now to see how high it is is going from one extreme to the other.
You got some progress! We got 9 inches in one day this week a lot for us.Low land folk were in rough shape for a while, lots of flooding.Hope you get some more sun soon
My M.O. is watching before WORK, USA time 05:30CST, then returning after WORK. You did good by yourselves building that Splitta (trying my Aussie Mad Max, accent). I can see why it's called Bloodwood, common. It's red inside! What is obvious from video is if you don't/or can't 'shake a leg' living in the wilds, like you do, it's not good! Thanks 4 video.
we are having a bit of a heatwave over here.by heatwave i mean 4 day's of sun .then back to normal rain.good to see it has turned for you.stay safe gary.
i must say it John better to use a socket to belt the seal into place mate a flat head screwdriver is certainly not the right tool use a socket or a bit of pipe something matching the diameter of the o-r ing
G'day Gary We are good. Thanks for taking the time to ask about us. We have never officially met but we consider you one of our friends. The weather has cleared up finally and we have had to get stuck into some jobs after the protracted wet. Making content as we work slows things down to about half so we have had to stop for a while to get a bit done before we go broke. We have plans to get a video out soon even if its a short one. John
G'day John, just wondering what you make of that 90cc perla saw. I have the 72cc one that I think you have as well, it's been mostly OK aside from some small niggles but im debating whether to roll the dice again on the 90cc. Cheers
The 90 cc has been a good saw so far. I have two MS 660 Stihls and both have done a heap of work one was on a slabbing attachment for a long time. Honestly its like comparing anything, the 90 cc pela barb cost one third of the price of the stihl and I cant fault it so far. If I was going to buy another 90cc saw and only had one saw I would buy another one. My reasons are I am 70 years old I dont use a big saw as much as I used to, and the way I am going it will get less use in the future. If I was 40 and had a lot of working life ahead of me i would go for Husqvarna or Stihl. I would say that the 90 cc saw has a better fit and finish than the 70 cc saw. At the end of the day it depends on your situation. One thing I didn't mention is I am reasonably handy and can maintain things. If you are relying on your local mower shop to maintain your saws probably better to get what they sell. John

One time years ago I could split it with the axe slowly but I could. Not any more. John

What insect pest do you have, that you have to deal with in your garden projects?
G'day Charles. We get a few different insect pests. At the moment its grasshoppers. We get shield beetles bad sometimes as well. John
