This is absolutely a valid concern! We grabbed this directly from Morning's FAQ section - hope it helps:
"The Morning ecosystem is populated exclusively with partners who share our commitment to the environment. All our pods on the Marketplace are recyclable or compostable; below are some tips on responsible pod consumption.
For aluminium capsules, you can easily separate the used coffee grounds from the casing with a capsule recycler like the UPress. Aluminium is one of the most recycled (and recyclable) materials in the world, and aluminium capsule casing can be sent to any commercial recycling facility after being cleaned.
For compostable capsules, we recommend commercial composting via your local food waste collection. Home-composting is possible, but results will vary significantly based on capsule material and composting conditions."

Having also a capsule machine: I only buy compostable ( wood chips capsules, no glue, zero microplastic and zero co2 footstamp ) from a specialty coffee retailer. So in the end it comes down to who uses the machine and what mindset one has. And no, i don't expect it to make me barista coffee, it's convenient and time saving and puts out decent/good coffee for my needs. For barista coffee, i go to my next barista coffee shop.
