THE best way to use a TP is as a MIDI CONTROLLER. Don't use any of the SW other than the East West stuff they throw in and the app to set up and configure the unit. IF you are a sloppy player and inaccurate you may get glitches. I use it that way in Pro Tools and Studio One to trigger tons of VST/AAX instruments and it works fine. Their "Connect" unit is dumb IMO because you are STILL having to use a cable to whatever output source you will use whereas the full TP is WIRELSS. I also use a second wireless unit to transmit the guitar itself so you can blend both the synth and the guitar simultaneously. There are at least 50 videos on CZcams on installing and configuring the unit correctly. Oh and one more thing...READ the documentation and install the SW IN THE ORDER they tell you to! Where Fishman HAS screwed the pooch is the IOS app and not having a version for Windows.

Vast improvements to the firmware of the controller have made TriplePlay much more accurate, but you need to download the latest version of the software to install the newest firmware. But yes, you are correct, you can use it as a regular class compliant USB MIDI controller and it works very well that way. The software installation is much more simplified and will have you going really quickly, so no need to worry about installation order anymore, in fact it's a single installation, so there is no order.

Got the original version with all IK software and worked ok. Then this year got a new computer (I use Widows) and waisted entire weekend lost in resetting passwords and then getting messages that it had timed out or expired. Fortunately have old 80s Casio PG 380 and MG 500 synth guitars that are still THE BEST !

Funny how no one talks about getting the output settings when plugged into an iPad. So far, Triple play videos are suggesting the sound is coming out of the iPad and no speakers/amps are needed

Thanks for all of your comments. At Fishman we are more excited than ever about the improvements to the TriplePlay controller and the newest version of the Mac/PC software. The ease of installation of the TriplePlay Software has been dramatically simplified and makes it easy to get going quickly.
The TriplePlay controller is a class compliant USB-MIDI device, doing all of the pitch tracking and MIDI processing on the controller, so there's no need to use the software except for initial pickup sensitivity settings. You can literally plug the TriplePlay Wireless receiver or the Connect USB cable into your computer and start playing virtual instruments in your DAW immediately. Both the TriplePlay Wireless and Connect controllers have been tested and measured for latency and tracking accuracy against every MIDI guitar pickup on the market and has proven to be the fastest most accurate MIDI guitar pickup. For the most accurate tracking possible, it's important to understand that installation and setup of the pickup on the guitar and adjusting the sensitivities of the pickup will give for the best results. With the newest 'Hand-Position' technology, ghost notes are eliminated and chords can happen without needing to clean up MIDI in your track. Improved firmware and button navigation features allow for switching between Mono and Poly channel modes as well as turning pitch bending On/Off with a simple button press. All of these features are available for all TriplePlay controllers in existence, you just need to download the latest version of the software for Fishman and update your system.

Hello I just bought one second hand, very excited to use this product. He didn't have any software included he said, or he lied.
    1. Is all the triple play wireless units the same except the hardware?
    2. I don't have any software right now. What's the best free software?
    3. I have a Boss Katana 100 with FX IN & OUT, REC OUT, LINE OUT, AUX IN, USB Firewire. How can I use my boss as the output for guitar and the fishman? While retaining the looper so I can loop both on the fly?

Hi Jordan, can I get a useable low latency acoustic guitar sound from the wireless triple play using an older Iphone or Ipad? I mean: triple play goes wireless to an I-whatever (it would work as a midi sound module), the I-whatever is hooked to the guitar amp? Thank you. - or a Variax is still better for acoustic sound (latency and sound quality wise)

Does the new version of software track better? The ghost notes and latency made use of staccato voicings like piano almost unusable. I eventually just used a pad stings voicing to make the guitar bigger when playing in a power trio. Couldnt trust other voicings to not spit out unintended notes.

I bought one years ago. The pickup Didn’t fit on a tele, strat or les Paul, tracked terribly, software was cumbersome and non intuitive. Midi recording was nearly impossible to set up with this unit (I have done a ton of studio midi tracking by hand, from Keybaords, and other sources, so it was not from a lack of technical knowledge of midi) and when I finally got some version of it going, the results were far worse than simply entering the midi info by hand.
The form factor still looks just like the one I bought, and since the software revision is 1.5?!!!!??? After all these years, It would appear they have not spent A lot of time working out the myriad bugs and tracking problems that were inherent in the version I owned. I was pretty psyched about it when I got it, less so after weeks of fruitless struggles. I’m sure the parts are still scattered in boxes somewhere in my studio.
The fishman fluence pickups, however, are pretty incredible, as are many of their other products, so the potential to make great things is definitely there at this company. But, re the triple play, buyer beware.

The SW has improved incredibly so why not try it as opposed to offering up a dated and scathing yet ill informed opinion? The TP is an amazing piece of hardware IF you set it up correctly which you've obviously never taken the time nor had the patience to do. I personally have TWO TPs mounted to a Les Paul and a Strat. They work PERFECTLY. Check out TP user and guitarist Nick Andrew. facebook.com/nick.andrew.370/videos/10157564163003230/

@@LightWingStudios I am sorry Joe but thats really unfair. Let me give you my dated (agreed - we can only go by our own experiences and it was when the product first came out) and ill informed opinion. As a specialist of the sale of midi contoller guitars (Godin) which I have sold for 25 years - they brought out the Fishman Tripleplay models. So... to learn more I thought I would buy the product and sell it in my store. The experience I had was exactly the same. I NEVER ACTUALLY GOT TO USE IT because neither I OR the Fishman "Specialist" could load it up on my computer. It was literally unbelievable what you had to load on to your PC to get it to work and in what ORDER you had to load it!!! I also remember the unit I had to buy in order to demonstrate it (the one I never successfuly installed) could never be sold on because I had used the unique code that was needed and could only be installed once on one machine. Its SO important to provide people an HONEST overview of the product we are witnessing here. What Fishman SHOULD be doing is addressing all the comments from people like Joe Gorman and myself. Reassure us that this is all completely a thing of the past because based on my experiences I have been recommending people dont touch the product with a barge pole. I have been following the progress - I thought it would either die a death or improve. I was REALLY excited to get an email from them saying there has been a development. I was pretty shocked once again - The video of a guy in a tracksuit????? I dont want to pick on him but the facial expressions combined with the tracksuit and TERRIBLE sounds I am hearing really give me zero confidence. YET I am still trying to overlook all this. The lack of confidence in the setup - the lack of conidence in what I am hearing - because on paper - It sounds EXACTLY LIKE what I want!!!! Tell me? Does it ACTUALLY give you USEABLE sounds like strings, bass lines etc more like the old Roland GR20? I dont hear any in the video demo or online videos. Fishman seem to want to shoot themselves in the foot with their marketing. By the way - I am a MASSIVE fan of Fishman pickups and as I say really want to find a great midi device to sell in my shop after doing Godin for 25 years. No hate - all 100% honest genuine views

Joe Gorman. I have to apologize for the hate you have already received for providing what I know is a 100% accurate overview of your experiences. I share the same experiences and I have sold synth products for 25 years and was teaching guitar 25 years ago. Your experiences were totally valid and just let the haters hate - If its not at you it will be at someone else.

@@RichardsGuitarshop LOL! Why? Don't be apologizing for me there Sparky. The guy is offering up a crit from a 5 year old experience that is not accurate today. Anyone having a WORKING "old" TP they want to get rid of I'll take it off their hands for $25. :)

    • @Fishman_Music
      @Fishman_Music  Před 4 lety

It's certainly understandable the frustration that you've had trying to get the pickup to fit on your guitars. Many Telecasters have limited space between the strings and the body making it difficult to fit the pickup underneath the strings. The Strats we have tested the product on allow perfect fit for the pickup, but also note that sometimes the screws on either end of the pickup that raise and lower the height of the pickup once installed on the pad are not at the lowest level, so make sure to adjust the screws so that the pickup is at it's lowest height. For Les Paul guitars, there were a few models that had a raised area on the bridge post screws for the Tune-O-Matic bridge that the original metal bracket didn't quite fit around and would need to be drilled out, but since then we have developed a better bracket that fits these guitars perfectly now. Contact our support department and we would be happy to supply you a new bracket for your Les Paul

Why have a guy in a tracksuit who looks like hes just been coaching the local football team?
