    My dad and I just finished fixing our Hoover while watching your video.
    We laughed and laughed, which made it a fun bonding experience. You made working on that filthy thing fun for us.
    Thanks for the levity and a truly superior step-by-step for any knowledge level!
    My dad says, “Thanks for the friggin’ advice” 😁 - and my mom wants to know if you’ll please do a tutorial on how to fix a cuckoo clock.

    OMG!!! YOU ARE MY HERO!! I'm a 63 year old Gramma and I followed all of your steps and even got it all back together with no leftover screws! Unfortunately, my turbo motor was broken in several places as well so I' m hoping it won't stop it from working correctly. Just wanted to let you know that you made my day!

    Great vid thank you for showing. It was exactly what i needed. I couldn’t find all the screws to remove the top until you showed and the rest of the video helped as well. I had to use pliers to unfreeze the gears. Brush spins now but not fast and then seems underpowered. The air pressure isn’t giving the brushes enough power. This unit worked fine for a couple of years but it isn’t designed to last for many years

  • @martinanderson6250
    @martinanderson6250 Před rokem

    Great video, thanks. I liked that you started from the beginning with a machine that hadn't already been fixed. Thus showing how to remove the cover starting from the bottom side. I did all the things suggested ; both of my bearings were seized up. The top one I was able to break loose using pliers and a screw driver to leverage the bearing up. The bottom one I had to turn the turbine upside down, place it on a partially-open vice, and using a punch tool and medium force bang on the shaft vertically to break loose the bearing. After cleaning everything which was rusty using a wire brush and more, I reassembled everything and tested the carpet cleaner, but the brushes weren't going around. Crumb. After dinner, I decided to watch the video again, and I heard you mention the butterfly valve that closes off air when the handle is up. I tried with the handle down and voila, the brushes are turning. Good going!

    Very helpful video. I had the same problem and didn't want to use the "bigger hammer" approach (brute force without disassembling) approach I'd seen on other videos. Using Liquid Wrench, I wasn't able to get it to work completely, but at least I took the SpinScrub apart, confirmed the problem was a rusted top radial bearing, cleaned everything up a little, got the bottom bearing working, and put everything back together without breaking anything. The carpet cleaner still works without the rotating bristles.

    I had the exact same issue on a Hoover shampooer that I bought off Facebood Marketplace. When I bought it we only plugged it in and it ran nicely. I never looked at the brushes and the guy never mentioned it. Anyway, by following what this guy did I was able to free up the 2 bearings in the turbine. Take a good name like Hoover and sell it to a Chinese company who builds it to get out the door and maybe last until its off warranty or count on nobody wanting to pay to have it shipped to have it repaired. I enjoyed your video and your cussing too. I'll be back I have to go wash my crock was hilarious. It could have been misconstrued as something else. Your absolutely correct in a poor design and using sealed ball bearings in an area that collects water. I would have used solid brass bearings instead which doesn't rust. I've been a fool over the last several decades to keep buying these poorly made and designed carpet scrubbers. They never last to get your money's worth out of them. It doesn't matter if it is Hoover or Bissel. It's the same thing basically all the time, poor design and inferior parts using cheap plastic that is not durable. I'm not hard or abusive at all with these units because I know the cost factor of parts and replacing them entirely. I'm fixing mine now and ordered that entire turbine assembly from Parts Express including tax and shipping for $42.00. I bought this unit brand new close to $150 or $160.00. Used it maybe 3 times and sat in the basement unknowingly these two ball bearings are corroding and seizing up! The next problem with this POS costs me money and cannot be fixed with super glue then it is going in the trash! I'm looking at commercial units or just rip up the carpeting entirely and go with wood flooring instead! Tired of these games with poorly made and designed POS!
