Great video! I was looking for one to help me figure this out and came upon yours. I used a toothbrush to clean off the spin brushes. Found that to be much easier and less time consuming than just picking at them😁. Thank you for your time!

Video helped me disassemble my unit. Did not realize the back screws. Thanks. Great engineered unit but capacity sucks. My brushes were not turning. Loaned it to someone and I think they exerted pressure on the housing and the gear got stuck. Brushes are air/gear driven. Great design.

Hank you are spot on (pun intended) with this video. I have one of those Hoover cleaners and have never seen any how to's to clean them. I am a novice DIYer so your instructions were so helpful. I have Harley's second cousin (Callie) living with me and need to clean our rugs. I will follow your instruction and clean my Hoover Spinscrub before I do. Thank you so very much Hank!

Almost the same for my Hoover Xtreme Scrub steam vac.
I was able to fix mine!

THE PROBLEM on mine WAS: the scrub brushes stopped because the internal large plastic vacuum powered turbine wheel cracked from the center shaft outward like the plastic hole was too tight for the metal shaft pressure crack over time. This caused it to scrape inside the housing and stop with the smell of like a rubber belt burning.
I found a disassembly tutorial on fixya for oiling the assembly. I didn't need to oil mine but I did smear some of the factory grease on the walls, onto the gear teeth.
I was able to fix mine very well by: generic Super glued(not gel or gorilla glue) inside the cracks and holding tightly with my hands for several minutes.
Then I carefully sprinkled just a little baking soda into and over the crack seams. This filled in any gaps. Then I let it sit over night to reach full strength.
Align the shaft bumps with the inside of the plastic hub of the wheel.
Then use a bench vice or light hammer with socket to Carefully press tap the center hub back onto the metal shaft until the shaft end is flush with the plastic hub top surface.
*In hindsight it might have been better, I would recommend, to when gluing the wheel cracks, to insert the metal shaft and then super glue the cracks and hold it all together. This way there won't be the risks of the shaft being too tight in the wheel hub hole when and causing another split or the risk of getting super glue into the wheel hub hole, causing the same problem.
This saved me $50 for a complete Hoover turbine assembly I see can be purchased.

PS I see the scrub brushes speed selection knob does have a hook catch. So to reduce the risk of it breaking when pulling it up-off, use a screw driver between the knob and the cover to flex the cover away from the knob where the knob's underside hook catches the cover.

    Take care.

I use my backyard water hose with spray head to remove the trappped dust bits on the brushes. It makes everything easier (Though you will have to spray each bristle 1 by 1). You can see the dust slip off of the bristles. I don’t know about using a preassure washer but I think you should definitely try this next time with a regular water hose with sprayer.

Why does mine sound like there is something trapped in a motor, gears or belt? It smells like burning rubber. Like others have commented, I lent it to someone, they put it back in my garage and I didn’t think to check it, it was clogged with so much dog hair, I guess it never occurred to them to actually vacuum first. I need it now, I dropped a bottle or Worcestershire sauce it shattered and got on the carpet too.

Anyone know if you can prematurely replace the screws with stainless steal so you don't run into the problem? Or any tips on maintenance to prevent rust? Like maybe tip it over and blow a fan on the bottom after each use to get it to dry quicker?

They only spin when in the recline position. Which is a great feature. On the Bissell 2x they spin all the time, so if you are using the hand tools, you have to put cardboard or something under it, otherwise it will chew through carpet if left in the same spot for too long.

      Amazon are slave drivers .
People who work there have to work standing up for hours and only get to use the restroom a couple of times a day so they often have to bring bottles with them so they can urinate. Anyone with a conscience should boycott Amazon. There are so many other places to buy things.

That’s true. I have a Hoover Max Extract Dual V from 2012 and it works just fine after ten years. I guess the fact that is has an Ametek motor, and that it was Maytag’s design from years before determines a lot. You should swap that el cheapo motor out of your Hoover, and replace it with an Ametek Lamb motor of the same size, volts, amps, and rpms. When it’s time for me to get a new carpet cleaner, I guess I’ll do that.

I watched looking for the screws that everyone talks about as rusting. Didn't see anything. Is it because this is a newer model, or because it needs further disassembly? Anyone know if you can prematurely replace the screws with stainless steal so you don't run into the problem? Or any tips on maintenance to prevent rust? Like maybe tip it over and blow a fan on the bottom after each use to get it to dry quicker?
