I was disappointed when all the store had left was this cleaner when I needed to replace my broken one. It was $280 cheaper and I didn't think it would do a good job. This machine blew the Eurika out the door, it actually pulls water back out of the carpet. I was lucky to get 1/3 the water back from my previous one. Very happy with this cleaner and a great price.

I got mine at Home Depot 2 yrs ago. I will not use Bissel because these types of Hoovers are the absolute best at sucking the water out of the carpet....even my berber... but you have to baby these machines... when done, flush with plain water, I then take the tank off the push the trigger to get any of the water out of the hoses... wash all parts and just put everything including the unit itself in front of a big fan to dry for a few hours....the turbine that spins the brushes can rust causing brushes not to spin...this is why I do this... another weak point that can fail is the trigger..I just am really careful with it because these do such a good job.

good unboxing and demo video, with my experience with a few cleaners over the years, this is by far the best one especially for the price, it's amazing how dirty the water is that it pulls up , we must all reminded, it is a surface cleaner, but still a very good cleaned .....HOWEVER, the problem I have had after several cleanings and maybe about 3yrs of use, is after it sits for a while in between uses , the bristles gears freez up from water finding their way into areas that can rust (expected after years of use) , the first time I was able to spray some lube and free them up, this time I need to get the tools out and try to save my carpet cleaner,.... some will say, for under a hundred bucks just replace it!! But I like to tinker and try to repair first, that's the video I was searching for when I saw this video.... so yes I highly recommend this cleaner, but I would suggest not letting it sit for 10 months in between uses. Oh yeah, it still cleans , just not as good.

Your viewers might want to know that sooner or later the brush drive
will stop working due to rusted bearings in the turbine drive. The good
news is the parts are available and the unit comes apart with just a
screwdriver. There have been many reports of this problem and Hoover has
done nothing to correct it in the manufacturing process.
    i.e.-substitute ceramic bearings. I used mine 5 or 6 times before it's
brushes stopped working. My ex has the same problem with hers, bought 3
months prior to mine. Not a big deal if you fix it yourself but a
repairman would likely charge as much as the product costs, only to have
it happen again down the line. Aside from that, I love it!

Just finished using this. Does a very
    good job.
    Con 1
I looked at the plastic piece that the turns the brushes and I see why people have said the brushes stopped moving on bad reviews.
To have this last a long time. You're going to need to clean brushed thoroughly after every use l, seriously really after every use.
I suggest doing 2 rooms at a time.
Give it a day or 2 and do another 2-3 rooms.
The slightest thing that stops the brushes from moving the spindles inside are stripping they're gears down.
If the brushes get hair and other debris caught in between, they aren't going to spin because the plastic spindle or gear will try and turn but will begin to strip. Thus causing it to round off leaving brushes immobile.
The machine is a 4 out of 5 Star machine. But the brushes spindle or gear is everything. Should have made this piece stainless steel or a metal thatl doesn't rust.
I'm going to order a spare brush set. Just in case.
I did my grandkids bedroom. It's about 18'x24' and made a lot of trips to get water and empty the reservoir.
    Con 2
the return reservoir is small, plan a good workout getting water and emptying it.
Damn it did a wonderful job though.
Picked up much of the water that was put down.
    Carpet looks excellent.
This is where 2 Grandkids of mine made messes and accidents.
Couldn't believe it when I was done ..

    • @One-Day-After-Another
      @One-Day-After-Another Před 10 měsíci

I agree with EVERYTHING you said.... Mine is 2 years old I luckily don't live with anyone with long hair....I've never had my brushes look nasty or bogged down with stuff...when I'm done I wash everything and drain the hose and put it in front of a fan, so air is moving into the screen area that goes to the turbine...and just let all the parts blow dry for a few hours... I'm hoping that keeps the turbine from rusting.. I've used it 5 times maybe so far and everything flows smoothly. This is a really WELL designed machine and it gets the most water out of your carpets... even if you oversoak them.. No problem... It's a shame that you have to baby it to keep it going...

Just an FYI when the brush rolls seize up, (internal part will eventually rust and lock up the brushes, mine did after almost 2 years) DON'T try to fix it yourself. Hoover says that voids the warranty and they don't/won't sell a replacement part so you basically have to buy an entirely new machine, when it could be a very simple fix.

  • @rancherhicks

    1. I like that it has parts that come off for cleaning the machine.
    2. Not much help since the carpet was already clean. You should see mine. We were poor and didn't have carpeting but now I need to "learn" how to care for carpeting. These videos are a big help.
    3. It is apparent J, knew about this machine before making this video or at least studied it.
    4. FYI, I learned while working in a nursing home to use Shave Cream to go over heavily soiled spots first. I was surprised at how well the shave cream did.
    5. I'm still debating. First review I saw was for the Bissell Power lifter. Reviews says for smaller areas but as good as a commercial cleaner?
    6. This model has some incidences of leakage and breakage? I like the dual tanks though.
    7. How often does one clean their carpets? Once a month? Every six months? As I stated previously we didn't have carpets growing up.
    8. If or when we replace our carpeting what's the best thing to get? Any advice? Right now I expect we have the cheapest since the house was remodeled before we bought it. We have some wrinkles after 8 years of being here.
    9. Should we hire a commercial company to come and do it before we buy this machine?
    10. What's the best way to keep carpeting cleaner longer?

    • @JRobling
      @JRobling  Před 8 lety +1

True my carpet was already clean and I wish I had a dirty one to show how well it works, I use this to clean my carpets whenever there is a spill of water, juice or any type of drink so I can get all the liqiud out of the carpet and prevent a stain.
      I read the owners manual
Still have not had any leaks since owning
I clean mine when soiled or every 6 months
If you replace your carpeting get the slightly more expensive brand so it doesn't need replacing as soon, more money saved in the long run, plus look for a good warranty. If your carpet has wrinkles but it still clean, its an easy fix to pull the carpet and make it flat again.
If you want a one time clean, hire the company, If you want to clean whenever there is a mess or the luxury of cleaning more than once every few months, buy the carpet cleaner, it will pay for itself in one cleaning if you are comparing it to the company you hire to clean it, and you get to keep the carpet cleaner.
keeping your carpet clean isn't too hard, don't wear shoes in the house, not having pets is a plus but if you do own one then clean the carpets more often. clean after every spill or soil to prevent stains or mold or smells. moving furniture should always have sliders on the bottom to prevent grabbing or tearing of the carpet fabric

Can you explain how to address a 'screaming' engine? I've read that it means there is a clog in the tubing. The two clear tube in back of the water/cleaner fluid tank are free of debris and I don't know how to get into the belly of the machine to be able to view and clear any bockage. I've read that if I leave it just screaming, this is a sure way to kill the engine. Can you give me any tips about how to approach this issue? Many thanks!

This is a joke that it is better than a rug doctor. I prefer the Bissell Big Green. This hoover is a cheap design and will fail very quickly. My motor failed after ten uses. Water seep pass the seals on the motor and it rusted. Replace the motor and put silicon lube on the seals before reassembly and the motor works fine now. However the brushes stop working after about 30 uses. Disassemble gear assembly and the sealed bearings on the helical gear were frozen solid. Gee Hoover, who would expect water to get onto you parts when it sucks up the dirty water. Got the gears to rotate but brushes still will not turn. Reason is the lousy design of this cleaner. Incoming air turns the squirrel cage which then rotates the gears and finally the brushes. Once you free the gears there is still too much friction for the incoming air to overcome and although your can turn gears by hand it will not turn when the motor is on. This brings into my main reason that this is a cheap design and does not really clean your carpets. As stated the incoming air does not provide that much force. Yes the brushes rotate but they do not provide enough agitation of the carpet fibers to get a deep clean. I will keep the motor I bought for some future use but this machine is going into the garbage. I will replace with a Bissell that has a belt driven brushes. The belt drive will provide more agitation of the carpet fiber for a deep clean. If you think this Hoover is a great cleaner, compare it to any belt driven brush machine and tell me how clean this Hoover does.
