  • Hi everybody, and welcome to my "stevenofpa" CZcams Channel!
This video shows you what it's like to see this Hoover steam vac vacuum, that was manufactured approximately in 2010, being disassemble disassembled take apart open it up and look in side to see how it works and see what parts are inside. There are a few problems that were found, for example, there is a broken suction hose inside the rear housing of the main handle assembly, and also there is a broken latch for the dirty water tank, so it can't be securely attached to the base of the machine, and this can cause a problem for proper operation.
These machines are great for cleaning floors and carpets, they can apply a liquid cleaner fluid and that will help loosen the dirt grime and debris from the carpet fibers, and then the scrubbing brushes can agitate the carpet fibers to loosen up the dirt, and then the vacuum suction portion of the tool can remove the dirt grime and fluids water cleaner products and place them into the used water dirty water tank. Plus there is a supply water tank for the cleaner fluid and water to be placed into and this is where the new fluid goes. Also there is a heater assembly that can create steam that helps to loosen the dirt, it's pretty neato good great fabulous tremendous cool awesome and other keywords like that. easy to use, easy to take apart, fun to see what's inside and how it all comes apart, you can see the power cord, power switch, electric motor, vacuum motor, water pump, scrubber brush assembly, handle, spray nozzle trigger, hand held vacuum attachment and sprayer nozzle.

2023 Took mine apart, found one loose screw for the recovery tank. Tightened it, put it back together and it will now suck up the water. The video (push pause every 4 seconds) helped me find it. Thanks

So to a novice like me, I don't have an idea what half of these parts are! A voice explaining this would be oh so helpful.

Could that broken hose be replaced? I have the same situation and I would like to replace it; but I’m not sure how to remove the cracked one. I saw you just cut it - is it possible to unscrew so that it can be replaced?

I wish you had showed under the tank, I need to see what the tank valve looked like. I cannot seem to find the exact model of the valve. Do you know the tank valve model # or what other model it is compared to?

Honest feedback- I needed to see inside the clean water tank at :09. Maybe even see the underside of it too, to diagnose a leak. That part was all sped up and hidden under on-screen text. Please consider not hiding parts of the disassembly under the text. I can use CZcams to slow a video down, but I can't "erase" obscuring text.
    Thank you.

At about the 4:09 mark there is a plastic piece that pops out as you are pulling it apart and you quickly gather it and set it close to the area in which you are working. Where did that piece come from and how to I put it back on?

Hoover carpet cleaner, solution tank no longer accepts more than 1/3 cup of soultion. I never expect these unit to survive more than 18 months so this one at 14 month is no surprise I can put water in the water/clean side but no real amount of cleaner shampoo Thought about drilling a hole on that side Any other ideas?

Can you slow it down. My top doesn’t come so I can check the brush motor which isn’t working. Thank you

You wrote: "Also there is a heater assembly that can create steam".
I believe that that is false. Calling it "SteamVac" and using the term "Heated Cleaning" is deceptive marketing by Hoover. Their "Heated Cleaning" means that you use hot water when you fill the solution tank. There is no steam.
Otherwise please point to the heater assembly that you mention.

You are 100% correct. I remember being annoyed when I worked that out as it means steam is not involved at all. Cleans OK though.

What would cause all the water to leak out of the tank if it's not leaking from the tank? Possibly the gasket?

Watched alot of these videos and found out that liquid stays in the lines when you shut it off, then comes out of the bottom of unit. Try setting vac on a mat then depress both triggers taking pressure off the lines. Not sure but this might be a solution.

Just in case anyone ends up here looking, it is impossible to find a replacement hose anymore. Hopefully this saves you a bunch of time looking. (If someone has a source, I'd be happy to hear it though). I ended up fixing mine (again) with flex-tape. The first fix was with epoxy but the lack of flex led to another break eventually. I'm probably going to dump the whole thing before long. Obsolete for no good reason.

@@melissaskinner7257 Thanks. I bought a smaller spot-cleaner but still keep the big one around because it's useful. I think it may do some 3D printing next time it goes. I don't think there's enough hose left to do much with.

The music is annoying and not talking and telling what you are doing is not useful.

  • @senatorrichardblack163

You need to tell where to find replacement parts. It doesn't help to know what's broken if you can't fix it.

How do I fix a torn (just like in the video) suction hose? I've cut it off but can't clean the receiving black plastic fitting or get the remaining hose into it. Thanks.
Btw the video is all but worthless.
