ScreenPrism please do Samantha!
I watched all the episodes, have them on DVD. With time I've changed appreciation of the characters, feeling admiration at this age with Samantha. I think that character was the best that aged with time.
ScreenPrism this is the greatest Cinema channel on youtube
ScreenPrism subbed! Liked it so much!
ScreenPrism I’ve been looking high and low on CZcams for a video that really breaks down the characters of the sex and the city and the show all together! This video was exactly what I was looking for. Can you please do one for the other characters?
ScreenPrism: Damned you for getting inside my head with these videos!!! Psychological and sociological breakdowns of popular show characters? Are you kidding me? There's a channel for people like me?!?
Big mistake making Steve cheat on Miranda in the movie. He never would have done that.
I think the same! It's like the writers put her back to the idea we cannot have both: a career and a happy marriage. Women have to prioritize one of them, if not there are going to be consequences :/
Shit happens
I strongly agree!
@@jens8223 I agree. He's so good to be true and seems perfect, but can make mistakes. It's actually very realistic. It's not like she had nothing to do with it. He should not have cheated, but he at least came clean and wanted to make things work. He's a great catch. I had to forgive Steve because of what he has shown me in the past and the kind of person he is. It's a hard thing to forgive, but Steve is worth a 2nd try.
@@djstuntfox for sure. Steve could've easily kept that to himself but the guilt was killing him. Even the nicest ppl make mistakes. Its just real life!
I think it's safe to say that nobody past the age of 18 actually likes Carrie...because Carrie is stuck in high school.
that's the best thing about her
PickUpTheDarnBook I don't like her and I'm 16
PickUpTheDarnBook exactly....she was super insecure and was addicted to pain and disappointment
she was always my least favorite.
Carrie is the death of feminism. The way she lets rich, powerful alpha men abuse her is pretty sad. Even Charlotte shows more self respect from this point of view
Carrie low key bullied Miranda a lot and Miranda's character was very ridiculised in the show. She was always painted as if she was too neurotic, too pessimistic, too coolhearted and "too" focused on work. Well, it turns out she was just a woman with a lot of intelligence, ability to think critically and personality.
That's my thoughts too. While filled with great lines, in the end of a day the show used every possible way to bully "the right way of things" and to promote & sell us "the worst way of things". That's why I hated the fact that it was so loved and followed by viewers. I watched the full series some time ago and my opinion was like "it's horrible!" The whole world got deluded.
And Carrie lost her apartment after spending too much on shoes
And she was clearly the most realistic and relatable character
Carrie bullied everyone even cool & chill samatha. I love Miranda & Samantha 🔥🔥🔥 queens
I thin carroe bully everyones
I like Miranda too for calling them out for only talking about men and sex. "It's like seventh grade with bank accounts" is a good quote. Relationships with other women have been modelled for us by the mainstream media since the Spice Girls to be like that and it is like taking us back to our teen years.
Spice girls was about putting female friendships first. That's what wannabe is about.
It was but they were getting together to talk about men, sex and make up and go clothes shopping. Just be girly together. Anything else you were expected to get a man to do it with.
@@lemsip207 It was like that waaay before the Spice girls that by the time the Spice girls came out i thought they were being satirical about it in their movie. But for as far back as I can remember women in movies and entertainment were always gabbing about men and relationships. Which is realistic to a certain extent but what i liked about SATC was the conversations these women did have about men and relationships were pretty relatable and realistic. Sure its a cliche and a stereotype but it's that way for a reason. Theres truth behind it just like a lot of men stereotypically talk about sports and cars. These portrayals have been going on since the dawn of time which isn't a bad thing especially when done right like in Sex and the city.
in 7th grade youre not an adult woman but IMO connections w/ others are important for anyone at any age. however, some people only want people to give to them w/out them also putting in some effort or even respect/love/care etc. you have to be accepting of differences. it's weird people just judge you based on what you like. like "why don't you like this show?" or "why do you wear your hair like that?" or "why do you listen to that musician?"
people hate Miranda? this is news to me, she was always my favorite of the four, she is smart, funny and loyal.
she's so REAL, I love that
She can also be rude with the brutal honesty and fatal flaw being cynicism like the video said.
Samantha is the most popular by far, but Miranda is definitely the runner-up.
People used to be super against her character. she was always my favorite, and I remember people being like, "Ugh. Why?" She's not the fun escapism character. She 's so freaking realistic that a lot of people I know didn't want to identify with her.
Miranda is my favorite followed by Samantha. Charlotte was a snob, yet amusing to watch while Carrie was my least favorite with her constant whining.
"I have a child. The jig is up." My favorite line of the whole entire show.
I never get over the "Right now I feel pissed... TADAAAA" :D
Whats does mean that? English Is not muy first language
@@Ss-qr2lp it basically means "the secret is out". Miranda meant that, since she has a child, it's obvious to everyone that she's not a virgin, so it's pointless to her to wear a white wedding dress.
@@meghanworkman6449 thank you
@@Ss-qr2lp you're welcome. :-)
I'm so glad Miranda is finally getting the love she deserves.
What about what they did to her in And just like that?
Her red hair with same tint make up and cheekbones & long neck is really elegant
Aliisa Kalma shes a natural blonde
Tina exactly. I think people didn't want "to be Miranda" not because of her progressive personality as this videi omplies, but because of her short hair and ugly clothing. Most women don't like short hair and are excited about Carrie's or Samantha's clothes. If only she had more aesthetic appeal, she would be the most favorable character of everyone.
@Tina Yael Severinova M. Exactly. Cynthia Nixon is a beautiful woman. Whenever the Miranda character would dress up she looked absolutely fabulous. Remember the episode where she discovered she could fit into her high school jeans? She was stunning in that outfit.
Yes, I always thought Miranda was the prettiest! They just always put her in frumpy clothes and short hair. She's so effortlessly and naturally beautiful
alyy j Wait, but her son in real life is a redhead like her, how did that happen?
Miranda was my fav from the show. She’s the reliable and honest friend that everyone needs. She might not tell you what you’d like to hear but it’s from the heart and it’s needed.
THANG VI absolutely!
I think Miranda is my spirit animal now. Alongside Dorothy of course
We all need a friend like Miranda!
Yesss, the best part was when she ranted at Steve for not being wary of his testicle cancer. He then started crying, because he was in denial he then took her advice, got serious and went to the doctor she recommended and was able to get cured thanks to her. she basically saved his cancer from spreadin 👏🏿👏🏿she’s a queeenn. Everyone needs that.
Miranda was always my favourite too 😊
I barely watched this show.
And yet here I am.
You have to watch it.......it's one of the best shows about women ever. So funny.
Garland5 I've just never sat down and devoted time to watching it, but I'm thinking I will soon! I always liked the few episodes I did catch.
Great, I know TV shows take time, lol. Sex and the City is consistently great.
I never watched it either but I do not miss any of these videos.
same here, but I was more aware drama behind the scenes.
Rewatching the show, she was the one not living in a fantasy world at least as much as Carrie. I think that’s the real New York dream but goes further than that. She has career, financially secure, had a family and did it all at her own pace. She wasn’t stuck on a guy who only wanted her when neither were available, never shamed them and spoke the truth when necessary. She also knew buying designer brands on a slim salary wasn’t a smart financial decision
My divine combo:
-Charlotte's clothes
-Carrie's shoes
-Samantha's living-spaces and attitude towards sex
-Miranda's overall personality
A divine combination, indeed! 💓
NOT Carrie’s shoes! Carrie’s job was basically writing puff pieces about high end shoes and other fashions. In real life, nobody actually enjoys wearing those ridiculous, painful shoes.
Haha mine would be: Samantha's job and money, Charlotte's appearance, Miranda's personality, and Carrie's everything else
I really want you to do one on Samantha or Charlotte, too.
Yes! You can skip Carry though, she had enough space to tell her own story as it is imho.
Same. A Screenprism analysis on S&tC characters? (like the friends one, it's SO GOOD) I'm sold.
I agree. And I don´t think Carrie is an interesting character
I would love one about Samantha too... she and Miranda were the best. But you can skip Charlotte, because it would take 10 seconds: Charlotte was a needy shallow girl who lived with one sole porpouse: to marry. She even quited her job and changed her religion to fit her guy at the moment... of course, the show tried to make us think that it was her desires... but we all know that it was not. It was to fit her boyfriends desires. I mean, c'mon, what person would quit a job he/she loves and where you already made a name for yourself, to stay at home being supported by your alpha male... I mean, really, it's almost disrespectful.
Well, maybe 30 seconds.
Régis Eduardo Agreed
Charlotte got on my bloody nerves. I hated her character so much I started to feel that about Kristen Stewart. Hahaha
'It's like seventh grade with bank accounts' Miranda nailed it with that quote as it perfectly describes being around immature adults. Miranda was assertive, independent, strong-minded and self-sufficient. Where as Carrie had the mentality of a high school kid, even in the two later SATC movies when the women were in their 40s, Carrie was still extremely childish, whiny, petty and needy ... I always understood why Big had reservations about marrying her.
Mr Big was a narcissist who though Carrie was an easy target. But I agree with everything you said.
In my 30’s, I find all the other characters so much more endearing, and Carrie the worst! I used to love Carrie, but in my 30’s, Carrie’s constant drama and narcissism is so off putting. Weird huh?
Totally! I used to love her when I was a teenager, but now all of her choices seem so dumb, self-centered, and naive!
Funny how now in our 30s we see what our 20yrs old self didnt
@Green Mills But that's what makes me like her character. Yes, she can be all those things, but that's way more interesting to watch than a character who does everything perfectly and doesn't have any flaws. I honestly think it's incredibly dumb that you guys are treating her as if she were a real person. SHE'S A CHARACTER! The flaws are what make it INTERESTING.
@@JLDReactions Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte are flawed. But they learn, face different struggles and grow up. M
iranda learn to being a career woman and a family woman (as a mother, as a spouse, as someone living in Brooklyn...she even took care of her mother in law).
Samantha, learnt to expose her vulnerabilities after she get freaking cancer at the same time she keeps an iron confidence all the time.
And Charlotte reach her goals after being more open minded about how should be her "happily ever after" (after a divorce, dating an ugly man, after having a horrible wedding and adopting a child).
What did Carrie do during six seasons, except causing problems to herself? The only reason she got a happy ending, was because the writers wanted to do it.
Don't forget some abusive moments too
Steve would have never cheated. They did him dirty in the film besides Samantha
I agree!
I felt the reasoning behind his cheating in the first movie was understandable 😔 even if it otherwise would have been out of character. Miranda had essentially abandoned him sexually. One can only take that for so long before resentment, built-up animosity, and desire from unmet needs take over and lead to a mistake. That story arc of them splitting up their marriage, attending counseling, then re-uniting on the bridge 🌉 so romantically was touching. That incredible sex they had when they found love for each other again had people in the theater cheering and applauding in their seats when I went to see it! I will never forget!
yes this channel literally delivers liquid nourishment for my ears
I worked on tbe uws during this show's heydey. At this appex she tipped EXACTLY double the tax. Tax $1.21 = tip $2.42. Remember this you vapid trendy lez????? CHEAPCHEAOCHEAP

chicchick13 oh yes! I subscribed
@cory newton
Who are you talking about-the fictional character Miranda Hobbes, or somebody else?
Also, when you think about it, Miranda is really the only one of the four who ends up truly "having it all." A truly successful career AND marriage/children.
That scene when she followed Charlotte was so nice I cry every time.
Steve was the best man on Sex and the City, by far. He was down-to-earth, cute as a button with those glasses, beautiful eyes, earnest looks and big teeth. A really great body that looked realistic and not too manicured. And just so totally relatable and approachable. He was cuddly. He was a long-term, "I can see myself with this guy for years and years and years" type of man. I wish I had a Steve in my life. Sigh...
I said Steve was "the best man" on SATC. Harry was great too, but he was also out of shape. Steve is an even better package--he's just as good a person as Harry yet also has the great body. So why not make Steve "the best man" on the show? Shallow, I know. But that's how these rankings of "best character" usually work, especially on a show as obviously superficial and saccharine as SATC.
Smith and Aiden were very nice guys too
big teeth?!? Lol
steve was very cute person u are right about everythin u said but i personally love harry cos hes so funny and honest ,him and steve are defo my faveroutes
I'd put an equality sign between him and Aidan. Both "long-term", both good looking, cuddly and caring. And good with their hands ;)
Miranda was always my favorite person on the show. That argument about Big was monumental to me. I'm so glad she said that to Carrie. But when she followed Charlotte home after finding out she couldn't get pregnant, I fell in love with her.
The perfect combo for me would be Miranda’s mind, samanthas confidence, Charlotte’s optimism and carries wardrobe
so true, I couldn't agree more
The show did Steve dirty. On their first meeting, Steve was an adult reading Hemingway. After their first breakup and moving in together, the writers infantilized Steve. He was a good guy who deserved better treatment.
I noticed how different he was in that first episode, too. He was changed into a more simple character. Wish they hadn't gone that way.
I agree. The person at the first meeting is not the person in the rest of the series. The person in the rest of the series can barely understand encyclopedia brown
But Steve was always portrayed as intelligent and well read, even though he didn’t have a bunch of fancy degrees.
@@terry9238 only in the first episode. Other than that, he was a cereal eating labrador retriever
@@terry9238 When Steve was first introduced he was. But for the second breakup, he was written as a low expectation having simple guy watching Scooby Do cartoons. Making Steve more childish was a lazy writing way to make Miranda sympathetic and right to break up with him.
Steve was done wrong.
Miranda ALWAYS have been my favorite! We are so similar. Even my husband is like Steve.
Not sure if I'm dating a steve or a skipper. Really hope he's a steve
BITCH PLEASE. YOU'RE A DELUSIONAL SPINSTER.
I've always had a slight dislike for Miranda, as I got older it was because I am so similar to her. I even married my Steve who is named Steve lol. But I also see myself in each woman. Even Carrie.
So, your husband also cheated on you?
Miranda was the funniest.
We see how things have changed when a TV show about four heterossexual white women was considered revolutionary.
oh yes, so true. I remember how scandalous it was that they talked openly about sex on prime time tv. And how revolutionary it was in the late 90s that women were seen as complex sexual beings, not depending on loving a man for enjoying and wanting sex. That was new then.
One of them was bisexual, I think.
Why are there always people in every fucking video who just HAVE to pull out the race and gay card even when the video has nothing to do with that?
Anonymous girl
Yeah - sam dated a woman then called herself a lesbian
And they pretended she went back to being straight...
Vanessa Berberi because these women are the figureheads of feminism to some extent and a lot of people get their ideologies from the show. Plus we had similar shows like this with black women and nobody paid attention. Girl-friends was a better version of this. But all the characters are black so nobody cares.
i always liked Miranda. as she was the most realistic character of the show and yes, very attractive and yes, glamorous. she is for me, the ideal woman. really enjoyed this.... outstanding!
A little bit too realistic, but I like her though
One of my best friends is a total Miranda when it comes to brutal honesty. I was stuck in a toxic on-and-off again relationship, and I was about to get back together with him (just like Carrie), and she called me out. It was exactly what I needed to end things with him for good and I'm so grateful I have her
Good for you! Now make sure you break the pattern (if there is one), so you don't get back on the merry-go-round with someone else-
@@katherinechase3674 I'm in a happy and healthy relationship now so yes, I did break that pattern! 💖 😊
I don't understand the focus on Miranda just starting to be appreciated or relevant in modern times. Miranda has been the most relatable character for me since the show first aired; being resistant to doe-eyed optimism about dating isn't a new trend.
at first, I didn't like her cynicism, but with age she became my favorite. I guess it took me some maturity to relate to her and appreciate her sense of humour.
Mamãe, sou cult the show also premiered on the brink of the new millennium, and probably people weren’t used to women with strong personalities. I’m 20 and a lot of TV shows and movies I have watched portrayed women to be innocent, impressionable, and naive . The fourth wave of feminism was also starting so in order to avoid controversy and just gain perspective in general women of multiple personalities were included. I feel as time went on we just got more used to and ended up being able to relate more to the Miranda’s of the world. ☺️
My ex didn't get Miranda and I was like....how? It was a sign
@@beckyy584 No the late 70s early 80s started showing women as strong sexual beings. Sharon Stone, Madonna and many others who were sexually open, strong confident women were very popular by the early 90s..and the best part is they weren't necessarily labeled as feminists. The doe eyed innocent naive woman relying on a man was outdated by the 1980s. Nowadays women are too extreme with the feminist bullshit. I grew up in the 80s and 90s seeing strong sexually confident females and I believe Sex and the city would have fit in on tv during the 80s/90s as that was how women were being portrayed. However unlike today they weren't extreme feminists. Nowadays the feminists have gotten out of control. At least in the 80s/90s there was a balance.
Winter Lynn I agree however those were more performers rather than the everyday working woman. I saw Miranda as more relatable because she wasn’t just strong but her awkwardness and stubbornness made her more human rather than just badass.
I think if I were a woman I’d want to be anyone apart from Carrie.
It wouldn't be the worst thing to be called a Miranda, but if I was called a Carrie/SJP (especially in terms of looks--yeah, I know I can be shallow), that would not go well
S G I would not want to be a Carrie, i wish i could be more of a Samantha, or a Miranda and just a little bit of Charlotte.
I know what you mean with the looks, I never got why she attracted so many men? when she's by far the ugliest of the group
Holly Louise because attraction isn't solely based on looks, and even though physical appearance is a big part of attraction (but not the only part) everyone has different tastes. Carrie is not classically beautiful like the other women on the show but she is beautiful in her own way. In fact some people will see it as the other three women being more common and plain and Carrie being the unique beauty. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. She is cute, flirty, charming, quirky, witty, holds herself well, all of these things can be what attracts someone as well. Even something as simple as her height or hair could be what attracts a man. Some men like short and tiny women to feel protective of. Some men only think a women is beautiful with certain hair and not other styles. Having said all that, if I was a man, I could never be attracted to Carrie based off her personality alone. She is too needy, clingy, insecure, and emotional and financially unstable. The other women are all much better options personality wise. Physically? I think they are all beautiful in their own individual ways.
It doesn't quite fit the original book description Of Carrie "Having the body and looks of Heather Locklear and the mind of Dorothy Parker ."
This video is timely considering the recent news that Cynthia Nixon could be running for governor of NY.
god help us.
The episode with Miranda taking care of Steve's mom is one of the best moments of the entire series.
I'll take that over Carrie's over dramatic monologues any day.
@@M-WG I hated that moment. Miranda was a successful career woman who made tons more money than her husband, why should she be the caretaker?
@@AnzuBrief she probably did get one. But this is the only family we ever see Miranda really interact with. Dementia is a heartbreaking thing to watch. It’s not so much about responsibility or money. Just love and empathy
That moment touches me differently now. For some time in recent years, I have been my Mother's caregiver. She is afflicted with worsening Dementia and Parkinson's Disease. That moment, bathing 🛁 Steve's Mother, was so much about empathy and compassion. It was beautiful to see the usually tough-as-nails Miranda soften into a more loving, caring version of herself. As to why Steve wasn't doing it...probably for the same reason my brother has never lifted a finger to assist our Mother. Some people cave under the overwhelming nature of caregiving and don't do anything...out of fear, laziness, you name it. Caregiving often falls to women. When I had to be hospitalized, my Mother had to stay at my brother's home and it was his wife that did everything for our Mother! Some Men are fairly useless 🙄 😒 😕 when it comes to such endeavors. Sadly.
Well, I've ALWAYS been team Miranda (and I am a guy, LOL). But please, please, PLEASE, never mention again the movies. Those movies never happened. NEVER! (Actually, the only storyline I liked in the first movie was Miranda's and I liked the scene on the bridge. But, other than that... those movies NEVER happened!)
I am okay with the first movie, but ignore the second movie
Exactly
I can never understand why people don't like Miranda. I get that some people think of Miranda as a heartless hardass who verbally chops people off at the knees and makes them cry. I actually enjoy seeing her verbally chop Carrie Bradshaw off at the knees by telling her that she would be making a big mistake in taking back Big and telling off Charlotte for her extremely judgmental opinion when both she and Samantha were dating a black man.
You have to admit she aged wonderfully in the movies she looks soooo classy and stunning, team Miranda!!!
@M e the movies are a disgrace!
I LOVE MIRANDA!!
I liked miranda from the begining of the series, except from the episode where she gets pregnent and annoyingly asking help from the people who warned her not to get into that trap. Could have been better if she had not have a child.
@@btroar2369 That was part of her character growth [ and the writers paving the way for her to eventually get with the babies dad, Steve officially] and also Cynthia was pregnant in real life so the writers did what a lot of writers do in shows, write it into the plotline. She wouldn't just be written out for 9 months as she is a main character, they had to do that.
Fuck yes. Best character by far. Everyone else was vapid. But I do still love Sam.
she has always been the best of the satc cast
Being a Maranda is like being a Hufflepuff; it used to be an insult but now it's a compliment
Omg what a good parallel
Hell yeah I've been a Hufflepuff since its been an insult and I've definitely seen a change lol
Will someone please enlighten me on this perspective? What is a Hufflepuff and why was it bad? For better or worse, the Harry Potter series hasn't factored into my life very much beyond the very first book the year it was released. A former co-worker once told me I was "DEFINITELY RAVENCLAW!" Whatever that means. 😬
@@AvecPoesie hufflepuff's are usually seen as not that special or talented especially compared to the other houses (gryffindoor values bravery, slytherin values cunningness and ambition, ravenclaw values intelligence). But hufflepuff values loyalty and honesty, so it's the most kind and compassionate of the 4 houses, but people tend to overlook that and just see Hufflepuff as the house where all the untalented and unspecial kids go, even though the house represents a lot of good qualities a person can have

My favorite Miranda moment was the one where she walked behind Charlotte when she knew she was upset because Miranda was pregnant and she wasn´t and Charlotte was touched by it.
Tv need more Mirandas to be the example of a a real life struggle and groundbreaking disappointment love. Life imitates art in this 'very well done character creation'. As a gay guy I watched the show and I remember that all the quizzes that I made it in that time result it in - MIRANDA. every one wanted to be a SAMANTHA, but then again, it wasn't about the 'how many guys you have' but instead, 'how you deal with the truth of your day life'. Miranda is the true hero of my tv series. This is video is so well done made, like the previous CMBYN. Congratulations for your channel and keep showing the other side of the view.
All the best!!
Miranda was the voice of reason! The other girls were definitely what you day dreamed about being, but Miranda; she could see things for what they were! Love when she read Carrie to filth, for going back to Big! Plus, her style- classic and timeless!
I'm in my 40's and Miranda was always my favourite character in SATC. Definitely a great role model while I was in uni and growing into my adult self.
I didn’t not care for this show when it was on and still don’t. And this essay articulates why: I hated that Miranda was vilified and the other three were held up. I always thought she was strong, intelligent, and a real friend. I do dig this. Well done.
Man does this no longer hold up in the remake
I've always said Miranda was my favorite and I could identify with her the most because she was most relatable. I love that she didn't dress "fashionable" like the other ladies because she focused so much on her career; she doesn't have time for that because of major decisions she makes in her job. I like that ScreenPrism did this!!
Although they could have made Miranda’s clothes somewhat more flattering-and still practical. The styling for all four women was hideous throughout the franchise; and the garish costumes of Carrie, Charlotte, and Samantha were no more becoming than were Miranda’s outfits. Each character was badly dressed in a different way.
Miranda in the new reboot seems like a complete opposite.
Miranda and Samantha were my favorites, sometimes Charlotte, but never Carrie.
Another brilliant review. I've always been too much a Carrie in my 20s but want to be more of a Miranda in my 30s (ESP the buying a Manhattan apt. lol)
omg wow I hope u guys do Samantha she's my personal Fave! loved this.
Kimaya Fields yessssss
Miranda was the character I related to because she's more realistic than the rest of the characters. Team Miranda all the way!!
This listed all the reasons I like Miranda. Thanks for honoring her this way. It's a shame, the two times I took quizzes about which character I would be, I always wind up as either Carrie or Samantha. I'll take Samantha, but I'd rather be Miranda.
YES. I have always seen myself as a miranda. Even my bad traits
Carrie is the worst
Carrie and Charlotte are the worst. Yet everyone wants to be them
I dont, I really dont like Carrie
Maggie Auzenne Ikr... in one hand you have two amazing independent women who clearly known who they are and what they want (Miranda and Sam), and on the other hand you have two girls who need a man to define who they are (Carrie and Charlotte)... and for some reason the first two are the ones everybody judges the most (Sam for her sexuality and Miranda, well, for being Miranda) and the last two are the role models everybody wants to be? I MEAN... C'MON.
Yes she is needy
Régis Eduardo Yes! Exactly.
My ideal would be Miranda’s career, Samantha’s confidence, and Charlotte’s closet.
I never really resonated with Carrie.
I liked Carries boho closet best :)
As a proud and open gay men, I have something to say... I ADORE THIS VIDEO! I'M A MIRANTHA! (Miranda and Samantha!) hahahahah
kidding, but I really think that Cynthia Nixon was amazing as Miranda and I feel so proud of her achievement as the only down to earth character of "Sex in the City"... Love your VIDEO, ladies! ❤
greetings from Brazil!
I only saw one episode of this and I hated it. But I liked her. This video makes me wish I had watched more.
Have you watched the whole series already? lol
Same. I think it really matters when you watch it and what point of life you're at. I hated it when I first saw it a few years ago but now I absolutely adore this series
You'll only regret it.
You watched one episode but felt the need to come to a sex and the city related CZcams video and comment? Right.. you've only seen one episode.
@Personal Jesus I didn't like friends either based on 1 even 5 random episodes over the years. But when I actually properly started really watching the show I loved it. Same goes for many other series that I gave a proper chance.
I never thought that Miranda should have taken Steve back. I was surprised that Carrie thought she should.
Steve was a good guy that could not be defined by a one time thing
It's irrelevant if you are good guy or bad guy. If you cheat you are a cheater. And it's not Miranda's fault they have no sex. She wanted her sleep on worknights ffs and he denied her that. And had the nerve to guilt her for asking to hurry up. And then had sex with other woman instead of working around his wife busy schedule so they can have sex and not deprive her of fucking sleep. And he is "the good guy" after all. Yeah.
@@SolumCaelum Thank you. I also thought people liked Steve because his role was to make Miranda more soft and feminine, and viewers approve of that, since there is still a link in peoples' mind between family life and happiness.
@@therealconniefrancis he also wasn't her intellectual or financial equal. It adds up, especially the intellectual piece. If he can't keep up with her in that regard, eventually she'll find him boring. Long nights watching dumbed down TV. Zzzzz...
Gotta love the timing at 4:33 when she says that they see men… and shows the sailors- otherwise known as seamen! It had to of been an intentional pun. ABSOLUTE GOLD! 🤣
This channel is the best thing I've found on CZcams. On the spot every. single. time. Amazing.
Thanks for existing ♥
Amazing! Miranda was always my favourite character, so I'm all about this praise! ❤️
I was always team Miranda!
...what about 2022? 😃
Miranda has always been my favorite by far. She's the most relatable. Carrie is annoying and self-involved, and Charlotte and Samantha are both basically just caricatures on opposite ends of the spectrum. She's witty, smart, strong, and funny. And she does truly care about everyone in her life. She doesn't sugarcoat things but instead tells people what she really thinks, and that's her way of showing that she cares. She kicked Steve's ass into getting a real doctor when he had prostate cancer, and she told him flat out "NO" when he wanted to get a fake ball that hadn't been proven safe yet.
Thank you so much for this content! Could you please continue analyzing some other S&the city character?
I always like her, because she is the only one who's existen seems real.
She has a job, a kid a husband and family.
Carrie, charlotte and samantha when through a lot of things, engagements, break out of the engagement, marriages, divorces, marital problems, conception struggles, cancer, moving out of the country, miscarriage, changing religion, adoption. etc... and no one from their families ever comes up, are Carrie, charlotte and samantha orphans?
Isabel Frias Just wanted to add that Charlotte’s brother did make an appearance in one ep. But yI agree, it was odd that we never saw Carrie or Samantha’s relatives.
It was supposed to show only the girls and not the family’s. In this show friends were portrayed as the counting family
This aged like milk
Omg love Miranda and just the whole show in general. I know you guys are probably going to do Charlotte, Samantha and Carrie next and I just can’t wait. I took the test twice and got Carrie. It would be interesting to see a video essay on her so I can understand why. I don’t care what critics say, this show was the bees knees.
@Jo the Great - Very good comment. By the way, it's CARRIE.
Jo the Great If someone asks me which satc character I am I say I want to be like miranda but I'm probably a charlotte
I feel like a charlotte/carrie but i've always gotten miranda in those quizes.
Great analysis! I love the escapism of the show, the emotional moments and Carrie's amazing looks. I admire Samantha and Miranda a lot because they are so badass, but I like all the characters. I want to watch a rerun of the show and see the good and the bad things.
One of my favorite scenes in the whole series is when Steve after finding out that Miranda is pregnant proposes to her, and Miranda just yells “ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY?” 😂😂 what a badass!
LOL!!! Yes! At least he didn't say, "ARE YOU SURE IT'S MINE?!"🤣🤣
Have watched this since the beginning, about the same age as character, I've always related to Miranda the most since my life has mirrored hers, plus I had her sassy, pragmatic, smart point of view. Thanks for this!
Miranda and Samantha were always my favorite... Miranda has true confidence, meaning she knows her worth and value (not based on her looks) but based on her ability to overcome obsticles in life...
Please do one for each of the girls (and guys!)
Love your channel, the only analysis channel worth coming back to. That being said, you make a lot of videos about the 90's shows Seinfeld spun off. I wish you guys would analyze the show that originated the metropolitan group of pals.
my friends used to say i was a miranda when we watched satc together... finally i started to appreciate it a couple years back :D
Terinka14 you should, in this day and age, the Miranda’s of the world are the ones that go far. Don’t become like Carrie or Charlotte
Why am I obsessed with this channel? I haven’t seen many of the shows they have talked about yet here I am
I love Miranda and I love that everyone commenting loves her :D. Really cool that you mentioned how similar perspectives Miranda and Samantha have! There are scenes on the show that would have proven that fact even better but anyway...
Thank you for making this. I always enjoy your videos, but this is by far my favorite. I love, love, love Miranda. I was 12 when I started watching this show, and she was kind of a role model for me. I even had a little pin that I used wear that said I'm a Miranda.
Miranda has been my favorite ever since. Funny, successfull, ambitious beautiful inside and outside in her own way - but with a sharp tongue and selfesteem. Great role model back then and today.
Wow YES! You hit the nail on the head... This is by far my favorite show ever, and I had never thought about that. Thanks a lot ♥️
Samantha is the elite, we should all aspire! She’s so strong minded, non conformist too and liberated
Completely in love with your channel and I just discovered this whole Patreon thing, I decided to become a supporter. Keep this up guys :)
Thank you Herberth! Glad you're liking our videos
Again, you have perfectly articulated my feelings about a character. Thank you ScreenPrism!
Word. You perfectly captured all my feelings and ideas about this subject. Thanks!
I've never quite understood why Miranda was the only one for the most part considered as the 'financially independent one'. All 4 of them had higher paying jobs and lived in quite large amounts of excess. They were all rich on their own.
Miranda was always my favorite out of the four characters! She was career driven, independent, realistic, and when she knew what she wanted she went for it without doubt!
I came across your channel recently and enjoyed the video I saw. Today this one popped up on the suggestions and I found myself nodding through every second of it. The cherry on the cake was discovering that the channel is run by two women. I'm part of a creative two-women duo too. It's really, really great to see another female collaboration and one that's doing such good work. Keep roaring, ladies.
OMG I love you guys!!! Your videos are so thoughtful and fascinating...not to mention bringing back back old sweet memories of the late 90ies Keep up the good work !! :)
An update to And Just Like That would be interesting. 😂
Aged the best... Before the new show😅😅
You all are awesome with the new content that keeps popping up. Love you ladies.
I get so excited when you post! A nice break from dissertation work. Pls cover Desperate Housewives, becus...Desperate Housewives.
Love from the sheep land Wales
I love your videos, I'm so happy that you made one about Sex and the city!!! I'd love to see videos about the other girls too!! ❤❤❤
Hmm, as somene who really, REALLY disliked the whole idea behind S&tC, kudos for an interesting analysis.
what a good analysis with good explanation and good editing!
For all the wearers of adult braces I know and knew: Like with college, it's never too late to start on something that would improve your life significantly. My Mom had adult braces when I was in high school.
I love this video, because I think that Miranda was very ahead of her times and when this series came out she was not as appreciated as she is now. I love her because she is the time of woman I want to be (having a career and family, and not feeling the need to make choices to make other people happy). :D
I’ve always been dubbed a Miranda and when I was younger it didn’t seem like a compliment but as I’ve grown older I really appreciate that people would liken me to her. Great video as always.
i’ve always adored miranda. her wit, charm, and beauty are absolutely bewitching to me.
