Based on that, you have to consider the difference between transfer income & transfer expenses, which is net spend. During his time at Dortmund, he had no money and at Liverpool, he finished a great deal to sell Coutinho for appr. 150Mio€ , to invest that money very smart into the squad. Klopp has been great for Liverpool and for the premier league but he is not at Peps level. Pep has won more trophies and all the Liverpool fans will say well Pep spent more money city -ÂŁ326m Liverpool -ÂŁ221m (6th and 9th according to website football 365) yes but not massive difference. What Pep has done is change and influence the premier league by utilising ball playing goalkeepers playing from the back, using inverted fullbacks in midfield, using a false nine when city had no centre forward to help win the league and now using centre backs coming into midfield to overload the centre of the pitch. Pep is a genius and because of these outstanding coaching principles and also winning cups and championships in Spain,Germany and in the Premier league he is arguably the greatest of all time. Only Fergie could come close but 13 league titles in 26 years is amazing Pep has 5 titles in 8 years far better ratio and if Pep remained at city for 26 years would blow Fergies record out of the water

If anything, Jurgen Klopp has overachieved as Liverpool manager. If you look at the club’s transfer policy during his tenure, Liverpool generally bought cheap, average players and relied on Klopp getting great performances out of those players. On the rare occasions big money was spent (Allison, Van Dyke etc.), it was only after selling other players for big money first.

Mind you it took Alex Ferguson 8 years to win his first league title (took Klopp 4), 14 years to win his first CL (took Klopp 3) Fergie only got to his 2nd champions league final after 21 years in charge of United. Klopp has been to 3 CL finals in 6 campaigns since he’s joined Liverpool. Also before his first PL title, Ferguson had 12th, 13th, 11th and 6th place finishes. It took him 7 seasons before he even challenged for a league title. Klopp had Liverpool on 97 points (1 point off City for the league) and CL winners in his 3rd full season. Liverpool’s lowest finish in Klopp’s 8 full seasons is 5th. Fact of the matter is since Chelsea won the league in 16/17 (Guardiola and Klopp’s first full seasons), Liverpool are the only club to come remotely close to challenging City for the title. Finishing 2nd twice by 1 point on 97 and 92 points. And also the only club in that time to have actually won it as well which was on 99 points (2nd highest points total ever in English top flight)

I love to see Liverpool lose, but to argue that Klopp has underachieved is quite absurd. To have won the titles he has won, even with just 1 premier league* to his name, while competing with City domestically, and the kings of Europe on that front, he's done exceptionally well to take what is really just a club that challenges for the top 6 and turn them into occasional title contenders and cup finalists. Well done that man. I think in the bigger picture he's actually overachieved.

People need to get historical perspective before automatically mocking Klopp. Arsenal under Wenger won three league titles in 97-98 (78 points), 01-02 (87 points), and 03-04 (90 points, Invincible season). Under Klopp, Liverpool have only won one league title in 19-20 with 99 points. They twice lost the league title to City by one single point in 18-19 (97 points) and 21-22 (92 points). Klopp’s lone title winning side and his two sides that lost to City by one single point all won more points than every single Wenger Arsenal side that won the league, including their Invincible side. Context is very important instead of just automatically mocking. Klopp and Liverpool not only just happened to go up against an all time great City machine but he’s managed for far few years in the league than managers like Sir Alex and Wenger.

In the period that Klopp has been in charge at Liverpool, chelsea fc have won 1 premier league title and if we have to engage in 'yeah buts', we can highlight how that was during Pep's first season at MCFC, a season in which he was building an as yet, incomplete team in terms of his preferred style of play and tactical set up. Since Pep was able to field a side in his image at MCFC (2017-2018), chelsea have been nowhere near them. man utd on the other hand took the mighty second place in Pep's first title winning season, whilst LFC came second in the Champs League. It's not worth mentioning man utd after 2017-2018 season as they were very, very successful in cementing themselves as a solid and competitive mid-table premier league team and weren't in the conversation for titles ever since.

@@bluemoon1716 Wenger had 23 years, Klopp had 9. Wenger didn't win the Champions League, Klopp did. Man United didn't cheat, City did. Everybody knows that and you as a City fan can moan about it all you want. You sell less shirts than Tottenham yet you have more lucrative sponsorships from the Middle East. City fans problem is that nobody respects City's achievements and that will never change. That's why you are here commenting because you are rattled.

Arsenal first won the League title under Wenger in 97-98 with 78 points. They won it again in 01-02 on 87 points. And then won it a 3rd time in 03-04 during their “invincible” season with 90 points. Liverpool won the league under Klopp in 19-20 with 99 points, lost the 18-19 title to City by a single point with 97 points, and once again lost the 21-22 league title race to City by a single point with 92 points. Klopp and Liverpool won more points than every single Wenger title winning team, including Arsenal’s “invincible” side. Context is very important. Klopp and Liverpool just happened to go up against an all time great City machine.

Scratching the top four the year after winning the league, finishing fifth after bottling the quadruple, and the finish to this year. Nothing to do with city, this is his team failing against the other competition they were better than under his stewardship

The only reason he didn’t achieve more was because he was bested by the strongest team the PL has ever seen. To miss out twice with 90+ points has to be considered hard luck. Maybe he’ll regret the two CL finals against Madrid but otherwise it’s been a period of success that no one else other than Pep has bettered. Plus the fact Klopp did it without 115 counts of cheating means his achievements are far more credible anyway.
