Some Comments for passers by - Jan 2023.
    - Tekken 3 outputs an interlaced signal. For any PS1 games with a native resolution like 480i, go into the Retroarch Quick Menu while in game and “Disable Interlacing” to “True” in the core settings.
    - Cue and Track files are working for me so no need for m3u weirdness.
    - The Libretro core is a fork of Duckstation is now called Swanstation.
    - If you want to save different Retroarch core settings per game only Swanstation seems to save them for me. Duckstation standalone per game settings don't stick (I could be doing it wrong - if anyone knows how let me know). If this can be solved please support the OG developer Stenzeck by using Duckstation.

I had a pretty good experience with batocera on my main gaming pc, now install batocera for raspberry pi4 on my pi400 and I have problems with all psx emulators. I can't set them up correctly, they have to perform more, when the 1x magnifications start to get slow. I know for a fact that it has to go between 2x and 4x correctly with the raspberri pi 400 overclocked. in the options of duckstation during the execution of a rom, I can not change the categories above or leave the menu. On my pc I had no problems. As if that were not enough, the version for Rasp Pi does not have a file manager to enter the emulator applications.

Why not use chd or pbp format for ps1 games?
If you have 100's of games obviously it will take some time converting them but just do a bunch at a time over a period of time until you have them all done.
Chd or even pbp also offer better compression so saving you a lot of storage space depending on the size if your library.

    • @fonzitheman
      @fonzitheman Před 2 lety

I always thought bin by themselves will work, not according to the txt info file I guess.
So looks like you need the cue and bin file then.
But also if you have a game that has mulitple bins you would need the cue file for those anyway.
But it really is much better if you convert them to pbp or chd for better compresion, thus saving you storage space.
It may be time consuming depending on the size of your ps1 romset but honestly I would take some time out when you can and start doing them.

Actually Duckstation is the stand alone emu for psx and there is no option to add bezels.
However if you use Swanstation (thats the Duckstation retroarch core) you can ofcourse have bezels with that.

Cant comment on cheats as Ive never used them but to use select Duckstation option for ps1 games select your ps1 games folder, press select on your controller, scroll down to advanced system options, select emulator, there you will a choice of which emulator to use for ps1.
Each emulator has its own options too.

The buttons should work fine when you map your controller in ES settings.
If not, you should be able to launch the Duckstation emu by pressing F1 on keyboard, go to applications, double click on duckstation app.
Otherwise Id recommend Swanstation core as its essentially Duckstation but Libretro core version.
It has many options, including upscaling.
      As does mednafen.
Personally I use Swanstation Libretro core.
