Here's some notes for people who are kinda dumb like me and just want it to work with what they've already messed up:
If you have your roms in .bin/.cue format, call the .cue files in the m3u file, not the .bin. If each Disk's rom files are in their own folder, and you want to call the .m3u outside all of them, you can use relative or absolute pathing and put the file path down instead of just the file name in the .m3u.
If you started a bigger game (like FF9 for instance) without realizing you would struggle to switch disks, and want to save your progress, you can. The emulator will make separate saves for every game you open, including the separate disks and any .m3u files used. Launch the .m3u version in the emulator, then close it. Go to the /userdata/saves folder, go to the system you are using, copy the save you have from disk 1 of the game, and then rename it to the same name as the .m3u save uses, and overwrite! When you launch the .m3u version, it will present you with your old save!

For GameCube batocera as of June 2022 now recognizes .m3u files, so adjusting system configs is no longer necessary. Just create the .m3u file as instructed in the video and batocera will do the rest (even hiding the two disk roms automatically).

Just a note for Dolphin: I just discovered the m3u files MUST have a unix line ending.. so m3u files created in windows without special means will not work in batocera for dolphin. Notepad++ or something must be used with settings to make it have a unix line ending. hope this helps someone else.

HUGE thanks for this tip. Was wondering why my GC games were having issues.
IF anyone else is having issues with any old M3u files no longer working or are just starting with them then you can create them In the Windows text editing program Notepad++ (NOT the normal Notepad), there is a function to prepare text files with UNIX-style line endings.
To do this, while the m3u file is open, go to the Edit menu, select the "EOL Conversion" submenu, and from the options that come up select "UNIX/OSX Format". Then save the file and its line endings will be saved with UNIX-style line endings.

You can't change settings or files in Emuelec? If so, consider Batocera. There is so much that you can do in Batocera.

Thats why I switched to Batocera for my RGB10 Max as well.
You can delete roms within Batocera settings and set emulator/core per game. This is a very important and handy feature.
I saw no such option when I tester Emuelec, Retro Arena or RetroOz OS's. Possibly if you enter retroarch but cause Emuelec is a ready to go OS you'd also prob need to edit cfg files.
      Dunno.
Some systems may run a little better with a diff OS but but honestly, I think the features and options Batocera has within its own settings is superior overall to the other OS's I tried.
Im talking for the RGB10 Max that is.
But even for PC is damn awesome too ofcourse.
Always needs some adjusting and tweaking and we have updates as well that gives us new features.

@@BatoceraNation But one problem is that Batocera do not support monitors with Raspberry Pi 4 or Odroid N2+. It gives lags on menu ES. When I tested on Samsung tv it gives very smooth.
How come that Batocera was never fixed it over 1 year later.

@@CloudOmegaVII As I understand correctly, you're saying that Batocera doesn't work on computer monitors but it does work on TVs when running it on those two systems? If so, I didn't know that. Since I'm not a developer for Batocera, I have no input of what gets fixed or supported in Batocera. However, have you considered getting a Larkbox mini PC? It's about $180 on Amazon and it can play everything that Retropie 4 can and more at better performance. It can even handle some Dolphin games at native resolution. It does cost more than a fully configured Retropie (about $100 more), but it is just as small, more flexible, and more powerful.
