Great result on the £500 gear. As you said before, its not all about having £1000's of kit,its about being able to fish with the right bait, the right balanced end tackle and dependant on the draw, the right peg. I hope a lot of youngsters get to see this Vid. Well done Andy.

Never mind the price of the tackle what a win. For new comers and people on a budget (me) it just shows what you can do with basic tackle and watching videos like yours for advice on how to approach your swim, we'll done Andy👍👍

When your trying to find different sized roach, I normally test different depths you can find at times the larger fish are only taking on the drop or in reverse, its normally the smaller fish taking in the first 40% of the drop and the bigger are mid water to bottom but sometimes it's worth coming up a little

I think my set up was less than 100.
20 on a telescope rod. 25 on the reel. 20 on a folding landing net and then a few quid on other bits that I either don't need or haven't a clue how to use them properly. I can stick it all in my backpack and off I go.

Great stuff Andy love the videos, think it's brilliant that you and Jamie are giving the tackle away that you bought to a young angler to help them on their way into fishing I've done the same for youngsters that I know nothing expensive as being disabled on limited income myself but I love to show them some of the basis see the happiness on their faces when they start catching. It would be great to see a follow up video with you and Jamie giving a bit of coaching to the youngsters who win the tackle to be shown the way to use the gear by a couple of top angler's would make their day. Keep it up lads good info and you make it fun.👍🎣🐡 ( Chloe's Dad)

I really want to get back in to match fishing. I had all my gear nicked a few years back so fishing with not the greatest of items as everything is more expensive the wife wont let me spend it on fishing but hopefully get back there soon
What a result, there's no substitute for skills and experience 👏
My advice if your on a budget .
go cheap on everything except the end tackle and bait, 👌👌🙂

I agree, I see people at my club with thousands of pounds worth of gear and I turn up with a £50 Preston method rod and pull out all day. It is understanding the basics of fishing.

Just added a couple of stackers from an old box. Everything else was as it was before 👍🏻
Couldn’t cope with just catching all that ‘pike bait’ in matches it would just do my head in.

Brilliant - just goes to show it's not the gear that's important, it's the angler behind the gear that's the key factor. I hope that whoever inherits the gear from this challenge has as much fun as Andy did. As an Idea how about Andy and Jamie taking the two gear inheritors out and having a challenge with them? It would be a brilliant experience for the two youngsters.
