The fourth generation of the Ford F-Series is a line of pickup trucks and commercial trucks that were produced by Ford from October 1960 to August 1966. Sleeker and wider than its predecessor, the new F-Series introduced several firsts to the truck line. In Canada, the F-Series continued to be distributed by Mercury dealers as the M-Series.
In October 1964, the 1965 F-Series introduced an all-new frame, which would then be used on the F-Series until 1979. In contrast, the body remained largely unchanged, but the 1965 and 1966 models the turn signals are above the headlights. Replacing the rudimentary straight-axle in the front was all-new independent "Twin I-Beam" suspension with coil springs on two-wheel-drive trucks.[3] The 1965 and 1966 F-Series trucks are distinguished with a "TWIN I-BEAM" emblem on the front fender. The F-Series also included a 4-door crew-cab model.
The 240 cu in (3.9 L) and 300 cu in (4.9 L) straight six was introduced. With the introduction of the 208 hp (155 kW; 211 PS) 352 cu in (5.8 L) FE V8, output surpassed 200 hp in the F-Series for the first time.
    F-100 (F10, F14): 1/2 ton (4,000-5,000 GVWR max)
    F-100 (F11, F18, F19)(4×4): 1/2 ton (4,000-5,600 GVWR max)
    F-250 (F25): 3/4 ton (7,400 GVWR max)
    F-250 (F26)(4×4): 3/4 ton (4,900 GVWR max)
    F-350 (F35): 1 ton (9,800 GVWR max)
A Camper Special was available featuring heavier-duty components to accommodate the slide in campers that were becoming increasingly popular during this time.
For 1965, the Ranger name first appeared as a styling package for the F-Series pickup trucks. The interior featured bucket seats and a curtain over the gas tank which was behind the seats in the cab.
    223 CID Mileage Maker I6 1961-64 114 hp (85 kW)
    262 CID Mileage Maker I6 1961-64 132 hp (98 kW)
    292 CID Y-block V8 1961-64 170 hp (127 kW)
    240 CID Straight-6 1965-66 150 hp (112 kW)
    300 CID Straight-6 1965-66 170 hp (127 kW)
    289 CID Windsor V8 (Mexican market) 1965-66 160 hp (119 kW)

My first truck was a 65 with a wooden flatbed. Had the 352 with a granny low 4 speed, with 410 rearend. Would climb over anything. It was so low geared it would start in 3rd gear with clutch engaged! Loved that truck. Drove til the cam flattened and it would pop back through carb. That was an amazing old truck.
Howdy! 8months late! I bought this kit finally and built my first truck!! Dug up a photo album from my senior year and built and painted it just like my truck! Scratch built the wooden flatbed and everything! This was one of the best fitting kits I've ever built! Gonna get some more of Model King Ford's. Really fantastic building kit.

Ha ha Chris .. I love you car owner's back stories . I used to think .." if the truck drove over a muddy road.. it would look like this. " Now I think ." Taking the kids to visit Grampa who's farm is at the end of a 1/2 dirt road and it rained all night... oh well... can't disappoint the kids. " lol Thanks for the fun build.

My friend's dad had one of these that was painted white. They were electrician's. I remember it parked in their driveway. I would love to put one together the way they had it. Theirs also had ladders racked on the top sides. I would have to have a decal made for it. It would bring back a load of memories. --Cindi aka Granny Glue-Sniffer

These kits have come a long way from the ones I built in the 70's and 80's. I'm getting back into it. Just bought an airbrush and compressor today. Already have 2 models mailed to me.
When you have a two piece driveshaft like this one, its connected in the middle by what is called a Carrier Bearing. I had to replace one on my 1963 Impala back in the day.

You make them to have fun, no ultra fine detail but just enough to make the end result amazing. I don't do vehicles normally but just did the Tamiya 1966 VW Beetle for my wife and can understand why you do these kits now. I also used spray cans for the first time and the end result is so impressive, I bought a load more. So much fun to be had. keep these vids coming, I really look forward to EVERY release!

I am subbed to a couple modeling channels and I will say this has to be my fav. I love the laid back nature of his builds. People tend to get to into make a model as "realistic" as possible, the "rivet counters" and forget to have fun. He brings the fun back into the hobby and reminds us all how enjoyable it really is. I stumbled across this and one other channel, and they are what got me back into modeling. Keep the good work!

Just got my order from Model Roundup (Oct 2019) both 65's Flair Side and Service Truck plus some mud flaps for my big rigs. Oct 2019 issue Scale Auto Mag on page 18 shows a third truck with a pick-up bed called Custom Cab LWB due 2020, I'll have to buy a dozen! No Joke! Going to build this one as a 60's trailer hauler for a 60's area drag racer. Of course the service bed will house all the tools, parts, tires etc for a weekend drag racer, hows that for a spin.. I own a full size 65 F-100 that I upgraded with 70's Ford parts, power steering, auto, came with a 9" and I stuck a Yukon posi in it etc, big nasty 390 built-up from a 65 T-Bird with 64 heads and other after market goodies. California truck made in San Jose, no rust!
Went to the big box paint store and bought a ton of Rustoleum both spray and about a dozen quarts with some acetone and hardener so I can spray through my mini touch-up gun and my airbrush for some wood projects. Ever spray it in an airbrush?
Love your build as usual, I'm going to weather mine up also, drag race tire dust!

    • @radioactivelarry
      @radioactivelarry Před 4 lety +1

The tree that has the engine is a 70's tailgate. From their 70's F-100 kit, so technically it is a 390? Have fun with that. The other tailgate with the front end components is correct for 66-66 so that tells me the LWB bed is coming!

This one turned out real nice. Great color choices. Your real life commentary makes me laugh. My '97 F-250 city service truck was a 135k mile hand me down, from another department. It was almost trashed, by the time I got it. Except for rear ending a lady, when she slammed on her brakes, I've kept it in great condition, for the last 20k. Even throw a coat of wax on the cab periodically.

These trucks had steel dashes,no vinyl tops. Just saying, love your builds! No criticism, just FYI. Glad you got the original photos of the motor, those gold valve covers were very cool looking. Almost looked like anodized aluminum, but were, of course, stamped sheet metal. Another neat tidbit about these trucks, the early 65's had stainless steel grills. Ford used up the stainless they had left over. The funny part was that they painted them if the customer ordered a painted grill!

Super Nice Truck. I had a real life Tow Truck Wrecker this Year Ford Truck. A few Years ago Model King released a Camper Unit that would Set this Rig off Right. I had one And used the 72 Chevy Pickup wish I still had it for this.

Great looking build. Now ya got me thinking about switching hobby for a while and doing this truck.
Know what you mean about a brand new truck.
I went to work for a company back in 1973 and was given to use a brand new Dodge tool box service truck. We had three of them and loved to parade them when a crews were working together.
    👍👍👍😎😎😎

Man i actually shot a boss stang kit recently with orange rustoleum....it was strange....very unlike rustoleum paint altogether...it hadda dry for weeks!!! It just stayed semi cured forever man.3+ weeks befor i could finnish it didnt want finger prints gettin on it so....idk mabye just a bad can.

Thanks man! Weird, I always have OK luck with the paints drying. But my basement stays consistent with temps, humidity etc and I spray light coats. I know thicker coats will take forever.
