Part of the fourth generation of the popular Ford F-Series, the F-100 Flareside Pickup features a 115-inch wheelbase, a 6½-foot bed, classic rounded rear fenders and a flat-sided truck bed with running boards for easy loading - practical for hauling loads around the ranch or farmyard.
Moebius Models’ precision-tooled styrene model kit of the 1966 F-100 Flareside Pickup features a full interior, accurate 240 CID six-cylinder engine and a detailed chassis. The completed kit measures over 7 inches long, and includes clear and chrome-plated parts, soft PVC tires, decal sheet and detailed instructions. Paint and cement are required for assembly - sold separately.
As the premier manufacturer of specialty model kits, Moebius Models’ Ford Pickup Series includes a variety of beloved truck models from the 1960s and 1970s, each featuring exacting attention to detail: full interiors, accurate body styling, soft PVC tires and chrome and clear parts. Precision-tooled styrene components ensure crisp, accurate detail and superior parts fit.
Yes, we notice, it does appear that Moebius labeled the box incorrectly as a "Flareside" Pickup. As you can see from the builds if you have access to the photo array, this model has the Chevy Stepside look about it, but "Stepside" was copyrighted by GM. Ford called their version with a step the Flareside. They called their pickups with linear pickup beds "Stylesides".
Features:
7 inches long
134 parts

I ought this truck on eBay and took about 3 months to build. I’m in a nursing home for now and had to hand paint the truck with acrylic water colors. The truck turned out wonderfully but not as good if it was sprayed. Made some mistakes with mine and I lost the decal sheet. I used the step bumper in the back but wasn’t able to put the Ford letters on the back tailgate white, but still turned out good. Very happy with it.
Right on!
Chris, i follow you alot on the new kits. The 1 reason why i give this kit a 99.9% rating is you cannot rule out that hollow grill. The grill alone buys the kit a total different level to a must have kit.
Thanks for watching Jeremy!
Very cool kit... and a great build/review as always.. Thank you!
Thanks Hisham!
Beautiful build as usual. I left comments on the 65 service truck video. That blue is close to my 65 LWB built in San Jose. Every Ford factory that built trucks had their own signature paint color I think it is Arcadian Blue, same color at a different plant or other cars had different names. I have a 460 & trans just waiting for this one. I always enjoy your builds.
Thanks Larry!
I’m building this kit. Since your video Moebius has corrected the driveshaft error and now calls for part 278 in the instructions. HPI Guy making changes!! 😂😂😂
What a great build, thanks for all the tips about the windshield and the different number on the parts sheet. Love the 23 1/2 hr road service decal.
Thanks!
because I think you're the best when it comes to reviews, here I go again, buying yet another. I have bought several kits just from watching your kit reviews Thanx Chris!
Thanks a lot for the nice comments!
Just purchased this kit and very glad to find that you have done a video about it
Hope you enjoy it!
I love the simplicity and effectiveness of your builds! It´s a great reference and inspiration to us all, keep it up!
Thanks a lot Cesar!
I've done 6 kits lately they are fun however I was getting discouraged by the windshields but now my next one (66 f100 flareside) hopefully will work or go in properly thank you!!
Once more, a magnificent build and review. Can't wait for the next video...
Thanks a lot Simon!
You knocked it out of the park with this one! And the kit is Awsome!! Thank You Sir!!
Thanks Kevin, it's easy to work on well designed kits!
Great build Chris, good looking kit one more I have to get on my bucket list.
Thanks Charles!
Kick ass Chris! Love that build!! May have to add this one to my list 😉
Very much thanks Bryan!
yes sir you should it's an awesome kit all the ford trucks by moebius are awesome
@@hpiguy nice build chris i have all the ford trucks by moebius
That is a lovely little truck
Been hoping you'd build this one Chris ! And I truely love that Water fall blue. I checked that color out when I was looking at some Rust-Oleum paints for models I want to do. And you got the right idea about Coke and Country music. I can just see me behind the wheel of this beautiful truck with my girlfriend Lynn close to my side on that bench seat, driving down an old country road, drinking cold Coca Cola with some good ol Waylon Jennings blaring out of the speakers ! Mmmm. Sounds good doesn't it ? !!!!
Sounds like a nice weekend evening!
Nice job! I’m waiting on the long bed. Thanks for the review.
That will be a sweet kit, I'll need to plan my build for that one.
Beautiful job, thanks for the decal tip.
Thanks!
Pretty sweet looking kit, lots of detail. Nice build as usual mate 🍻
Thank you Dale!
Holy crap, this is AWESOME Chris!!! Great color choice, your presentations are so informative and a total delight to watch!!!
Thanks Ron!
As always great work and very detailed video description. Love the way you put factual info about the real truck in the description
Thank you Robert, glad you like it!
I love you work and I love doing models cars because my dad got me into the models cars and I miss him
I'll be buying that kit for sure. It came out absolutely beautiful with those decals!
Enjoy your model!
What a great looking kit ! I think I might pick this one up. Thanks for the tip on future floor polish.
Thanks Chris!
Excellent build Chris! Keep them coming!
Thank you John!
Great build and review Chris, Thanks buddy! 🏁🏁👍👍👍
Thank YOU Whitey!
Nice looking rig. Grill is outstanding.
Trucks, trucks, and more trucks, keep

Great video as usual CHRIS. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Jorge!
Thouroughly enjoyed this build...fer sum reason i doubted yer color combo choice at first but man once together its right! Keep em coming!!!
Thanks for watching Adam!
Geeez that looks good. Beautiful color. It will go with the utility truck perfectly. Put something in the back. Nice review & job.
Thanks Daniel!
Great video again Chris. You put out the best videos on the tube. Well done my friend! Love the decals...there was a local hobby store in my area going out of business a couple years ago and they had a whole box of them and I bought them all for about $20...such a good score. I use the heck out of them. And of coarse I have ordered many of them from Model Roundup. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to the next one...
What a score indeed! My first time using them and was very pleased.
Thanks again Mike!
A Fantastical Build Chris, I REALLY LIKE THE EVERYTHING,,, Awesome Decal Info Too !! God Bless All
Thanks a bunch Gary!
very cool, your eye for detail is awesome, keep up the good work, clear coating does wonders, will start doing that one
Thanks for watching the show!
The blue looks amazing
Pretty nice kit and an awesome build as always.
Thanks Chasse!
I love your videos , I just purchased the 1969-1972 Ford kits , I drive a Ram truck but have always liked the old Ford's, thank you for making these videos keep up the good work
Beautiful mate as always, that kit is a must have ....
Thanks Gary!
Looks to be a stunning kit. Always love the color choices too. I may have to get the kit and steal your color combo. lol 😆 Another great build/review and look forward to the next one! 😎👍🏾
Thanks a bunch Clifton! I enjoy the builds!
hpiguys Workshop It shows my man! Keep it going!
I learned how to drive with a tan '66 F100. It would be fun to see one of these custom built as a phantom as if Ford made a full-size Bronco in '66.
Yeah!
Nice build on it great detail ! Chris
Thanks Charles!
I was so hoping this would be the first build after seeing your post about the latest group of models you got.
Thanks for watching!
Very nice thanks for sharing your build
Thank you Francis!
I believe those are East Coast or West Coast or RV mirrors. And I believe that the inner fenders are galvanized steel. Love that truck. That color is fantastic on there.
Cool, thanks!
Another great review Chris!
Thank you Clay!
Very nice build, you do a great job, both of building and explaining.
Thank you Schroeder!
Looks like a great kit. Well done, as always.
Thank you!
Great kit, and sweet build! One tip - draw around the headlight lenses on the sides (the thickness of the lens) with a thin black Sharpie, it makes the headlights look 100% better when they're assembled to the reflectors.
Yes, you are right, that looks great, I've done that on back glass for pickups for years. I should try it on a headlight. Thanks!
I was really hoping that you would do a review & build on this model. And as usual dude, AWESOME! I'm thinking of a metallic purple for mine, just to be different of course. Looking forward to that decal review when you post it! Thanks again man, see you in the very next video...
That will be cool, thanks for watching!
I love the Ford products! Even the models! Great build, love your detail!
Thank you for your support and visiting the channel!
The truck would look worthy of some weathering, Mobius has some great looking models, and another great build from you!
Thank you Peter, yes it would look great as a basket case or work truck, etc.
Great review and build Chris!!! Another kit I'll pick up (pardon the pun lol!!!) and build one of these days...
Thanks for the comment William!
What I did for the box wood on my ‘65 Chevy short box was use some 3/16” pine hobby planking from Micheals. Then stained it with whatever I had on hand.
I also detailed the engine with plug wires and cooling lines.
Looks awesome
Great tip!
Awesome build as always you're an artist
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
I went a different way with this kit. Bought an 8' flareside bed from Fireball Models. Making it a F250 4x4 using the frame and drive train from the '70 kit. And the Fireball F250 conversion kit. I think that '61- '66 body is the best looking body Ford ever did on a truck.
Absolutely awesome kit and build! My only tiny nitpick is the lugnuts molded on the spare wheel. I will be getting this one and the utility bed version.
True, but easily shaved off and tapped out if it bugs a person.
Thanks for watching Jim!
dude this is so beautiful im waiting for the fleetside and im gonna get it and make it look like my real life 65
Cool!
Another awesome Build definlity picking this one up
Thanks Charlie!
Wait to get to this model kit
very nice build and Moebius does make excellent kits
Thanks Craig!
the wood bed treatment looks nice. i recall back in the day from the ones my relatives had being painted body color from the factory.
Good tip! Thanks!
One of your better builds. Oh to have one of these today.
Thanks Keith!
Beautiful kit nice job I like that wood decal set for the bed. I'm going to get this kit.
Thanks Paul!
I actually had a '66 f-250 long bed. It was my first truck. 390 with oil bath air filter. Miss that thing. Didn't know what i had. Would love to have a model of it. I think this is as close as I'll get. For now. As always, another great build. This would make an awesome shop truck for my service station.
Yes it would, thanks!
Well done Video of a great kit! Can't wait to get it here in Germany! 👍👍👍
Enjoy your kit!
very nice job chris i love the color of the truck also thank you for the tip on the decals i have used gopher decals in the past they are great kudos to model roundup happy modeling .john
Thanks John!
Rebuild kit reviews, very nice truck
Very nice build Chris!
Thanks for watching!
I have built 2 of theses kits and I think they some of the best kits out
Nice kit great work and detail.
Thanks Nathan!
I notice that you rarely, if ever put a radio antenna on your models. I always liked to use a piece of sprue, heated and stretched thin. Then cut to desired length. You can also custom make wires, heater hoses, battery cables, etc like this. Your model building rocks btw!
Thanks for watching!
Fantastic job Mr Chris. I checked my Grand pops 69 ford colors book and the motor was spot on. Bed is great. The song you picked TL 11:03 reminded me of an old "Yes" song. Take care!
Thanks a lot Icenesis!
As always, you knocked it out of the park! You can also use that bed on the short wheelbase '69-'72 Ford kits as well. Fits perfectly, I made my Moebius '69 into a Flareside and it looks awesome.
Thanks Charlie, I loved it, looking forward to other issues!

@@hpiguy you're welcome and me too!
Another nice build!
Looking forward to the "gofer" video. I've used their decals on some truck kits and I'm happy with the result. Would like to see how their other after market stuff holds up.
Thanks Tim!
Great review ! I bought a 66 Ford Stepside a couple of years ago. It was very close to the color you painted your model.
Very cool!
Looks awesome my friend! I love the color!
Much appreciated Todd!
Beautiful Ford pickup. Thanks for sharing. Ron
Thanks a lot Ron!
Great looking truck and kit
Thank you Charlie!
Great looking truck Chris!...Bill
Thanks a lot Bill!
Very cool build
This would make a nice junker too
Thank you, yes, just about any old truck makes a cool junker.
thanks for the response on the primer/painting. Any thoughts about instructions on micro-sol and micro-set for the gang. Your modeling is the best (and most affordable and made more easy) and your tips and video skills enhance the lessons. This PU truck is my next one - thanks
I'm not very experienced in using those solvents but they are well known and loved and work really well for thousands of modelers.
I use Tamiya MarkFit decal solvent which is just brush on, apply decal, brush some on top and leave it alone to dry.
great build, Very cool
Thank you Eric!
Nice. Good job & nice choice of paint color. A fine review.
Thank you Daniel!
Nice kit. Thanks.
Thanks!
Nice one! I ordered those decals.
Thanks for watching!
Would love to see you build the 1994 ford f150 lightning! Great job on this kit and I really like the color you chose.
Thanks for watching!
kool , thanx...funny thing...I knew someone , that had that exact truck 1/1 scale..nice kit
Robert
Thank you Robert!
Thanks for the tip about the headlights as model cement does cloud up the lights as it dries.
Coating all the clear plastic with Future floor polish before gluing also helps out a lot.
Testors makes a window glue that dries perfectly clear. You can even make small windows with it.
Came out just great... Chris, you're pretty spot-on with your color scheme choices, but of course you are that's why we do research right!.... just as a bit of info you weren't far off on the color ford called it ( frost turquoise) in 66.
Thanks Jon!
I get lucky sometimes and find a close color or scheme to a stock vehicle. Mainly I just look at a few pics and see something I like and make an attempt to create a look I enjoy, correct or not.
Thanks for always watching!
@@hpiguy Yep, it's about the enjoyment most of all.
Nice clean build
Thanks!
Great looking two tone interior
Thanks Caleb!
I love Moebius Models they’re made of high quality plastic, I’m currently building the International Lonestar model and I already built their version of the Batman vs Superman movie Batmobile, amazing job as always
Thanks Ed, yes they make great stuff!
Hi Chris,
Would love to see a build of a 1959 Ford Farlane Skyliner ragtop. Had one in high school in 1964.
Thanks, Dave
Well, that just went on the list, a 6 cyl made me do it. Keep up the great work and Rust In Peace.
Thanks man, enjoy your kit!
I bought this model too, just finished it. You're correct, the windshield is VERY hard to fit into place. the back and sides are easier. Why do they include SO MANY parts you'll never use. I've 4 or 5 sprues with parts still on them, not used... Finished it in baby blue, used the big mirrors.. Fitting the interior in there was a pain, but it's in there. They do make nice models!
Common parts from other series are on the molds so they leave them all on there when the cast them.
We end up with free parts for other custom jobs, etc.
Great looking kit
Thank you!
Increíble tu trabajo sos un verdadero artesano .tengo una f100 65 para uso diario .Felicitaciones saludos cordiales desde Argentina
Thank you!
Another awesome build!! Man that truck looks sweet. My dad has '63 f 150 that doesn't look too different than this. Of course his has a mustang v8 and suspension. ;)
Very cool, thanks Wily!
Moebius did their homework on this one, I recognize many parts and details that are on my 1966 f100 daily driver (though it's a long bed fleetside)
Sweet!
nice build of a quality made bunch of parts
Thanks Jeffrey!
unbelieveably awesome
Thank you!
Very tight built, I have plenty of gofer detail sets just in case
You've made the case to use them with this kit
Thanks Joe, my first time using them and I'd say they went on well, proof is in the pudding.
very nice job , great video
Thank you David!
