(long-time subscribed) Great video and excellent tips about the instructions irregularities (I think what YOU'VE provided will help many, fellow modelers). I've built (and rebuilt) about a half a dozen of these (and maybe 3 times as many ALF pumpers) and you're tips have been quite useful. I think newer builders will get much from them. Thanks Doug, for providing such wonderful videos.
Brinx, Awesome, thank you! -Doug
Just came across this build and had to watch it, and it was fantastic, I have subscribed to your channel and hope to see more builds like this in the future, very best regards from Australia, Les.
Les, Thanks for the sub and for watching! -Doug
This is one labour intensive project, but the end result is stunning!
David, You're right and thanks for watching! -PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug
Thanks to your video, I am carefully proceeding on my Ladder Chief. But I also have an original , partially finished model, set from the 70s, complete with hand drawn picture instructions, but they are correct for the ladder, unlike the fancy new computerized ones.
Mike, Glad we could help. Thanks for the sharing and please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug
Thanks, I'll check that out!
Thank you.
I would like Engine 51 and Squad 51 from the classic tv show Emergency.
John, That would be cool! Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug

I have all 4 now Chief's car, Pumper, Ladder Chief, and the Snorkel.
And off topic I found the CopOut dragster online( 1973 original) recently. I built it in '73 when it first came out, this one will have some extras.
CP, Very cool. Thanks for watching! -PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug

Hey I appreciate the video, have this kit at home and will probably get to it soon, wanna get a couple more thing for it from Dave Parsley. I will mention, and I don't mean this as criticism, I noticed there were some areas in the build where the sound continued but the video lagged. I appreciate the part about the frame construction advice. Will be using custom printed decals and custom lights on top
Clint, Thanks for the info! -Doug
Despite all the aggravation that you run into with this build, it came out nicely Doug! That's unfortunate about the lack of instructions. I really hope Round 2 drastically improves these old kits. I really enjoy them for the subject matter but there's quite the issues involved.
John, That was really nice of you to say. I'm glad you enjoyed the review! -Doug
Had this kit back in the early 80s and if I remember correctly it had emergency lights molded in clear red then when AMT merged with RC2 the red lights got replaced with chrome lights and now it has been rereleased with the clear red lights once again. i would like to see a mid mount ladder truck in styrene.
DD, A mid-mount would be nice. Thanks for sharing and watching and please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug
Can anyone recommend a aftermarket source for lights and tools?
Tim, You can find vendors on Shapeways or even eBay. Look for (8 pc) Fire Dept. Hand Tool Set 1/24th Scale By Don Mills Models or Hobby Gear DEMOLISH TOOLS Set there. eBay also has lighting kits like this one at "FIBER OPTIC "illuminator LIGHTING KIT" for ALL scale models". Question, do you know of anyone who makes aftermarket firefighters that would fit this model? I'm finishing up mine and before I glue in cab, I would love to have a driver and pander to put in there. THANKS! Your video has been a godsend for me as I attempt to merge a 50 year old version my Dad started and a new kit.
Mike, American Diorama (americandiorama.com/index.php?route=product/search&search=Firefighters) sells 1:24 firefighters. You would have to alter them for in cab passengers or graft the heads on to a race car figure! Doug
@@RightOnReplicas thanks!
A 39" ladder?!? This is a huge model.
J, Yep, it's a big 'un! -PS, please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug
