The 2024 Cadillac Lyriq AWD Is The Ultimate Electric Caddy For The Modern Era

- The #CadillacLyriq is a big step for one of the oldest car brands in the industry and this #Lyriq is the very first fully electric #Cadillac to go into production. While GM had a bit of a slow start with the #UltiumEV platform, the latest Lyriq has a stand-out design, impressive tech and luxury, and decent specs for range and charging.

i dont care what anybody says. this is one of the best if not the best looking SUV on the market right now.
Agreed, and it’s not even close tbh.
IDC what anybody says but Cadillac is one of the few brands where I actually prefer their EV design language to their gas vehicles, this the escalade iq, celestiq and upcoming vistiq and optiq all look great imo
Negative. That back window (rear quarter window) is standard Cadillac garbage design. The rest of the car looks good, but it’s always one thing they do that just completely does it in.
@@ericnewton5720 I’m glad people like you think it’s ugly, hopefully you’ll settle for a more basic looking EV and leave the Cadillac for the folks who appreciate the unique design language and extra detail in their luxury vehicles.
@@ericnewton5720 : I agree that they rear window is a bit hard to see through especially in the rear view mirror. Now the 'fix' to this is to get the option of having a camera for the rear view mirror. I had that in my Volvo, and have in my GMC Truck. In the Lyriq the camera is better than both hands down, so you don't even notice how difficult it is to see out the rear window because you're no longer looking out it.
Jesus Christ, this vehicle looks super great inside and out! That interior dash looks beyond amazing! So proud of Cadillac and GM for making this vehicle a reality.
Wish it had a TTV6
Just purchased my 3 weeks go. I’m in love!!!!! Best car ever
Cadillac????? Hahahaha Cadillac????? Hahahaha yeah best car ever. Hahahahaha. Oops sorry, I just threw up in my mouth a little. My bad.
Congrats!
Ignore the troll😂
Every time I see one of these, I cant take my eyes off it. Gorgeous design!
Is the Cadillac Lyriq, the Cadillac of EVs? I'd say, "Yes!"
Superfly?
No that would be the Celestiq
This is the Chevy version of the Cadillac EV w/ a Caddy badge on it so you don't feel so duped when you purchase it.
I recently bought the Luxury 2 and love it. It has plenty of power at speed to pass anyone. I've had no issues, and while I averaged only 8k miles per year on my old Lexus, I've already driven 1000+ in the first month. The cutouts in the trunk enable a golf bag parallel to the bumper. Treat yourself and get one; you won't regret it.
Sofyan - I spotted you in the Tyson's Corner parking lot one time many years ago - longtime fan - your consistency is astonishing
Solid sounding thunk
No better mall lot than TC to review expensive cars. lol Man, do I miss NOVA life!
Not the expensive housing and traffic of course. lol
These look super cool in person. Would definitely consider one if I needed an EV and could afford it.
That's a perfect statement because no one ever "needed an EV"
Got mine (AWD) 2 weeks ago and I have never loved a car so much. Perfect balance of power, comfort, and value.
Extremely good quality and beautiful, I will definitely buy it when I have enough money
I can't wait until i can get this car! Just another few months for me
You lucky bastard! It’s absolutely gorgeous. Those interior door handles are out of this world. So unique to me.
I've seen a few of them
They look very nice at every angle. I wish it was at night because that illuminated grille is just beautiful
The reason it initially doesn’t feel fast is because it is heavy. Still zero to sixty under five seconds is respectable.
Nope, I’m pretty sure it’s for the feel of gradual acceleration and to help mitigate premature tire tread wear/tear. Heavy vehicles with lots of horsepower (especially EVs thanks to instantaneous torque) tend to go through tires quicker than less powerful/lighter vehicles. The way the Ultium products gradually accelerate to 100% power significantly reduces stress on the tires and even other components on the vehicle.
@@G-Rated could one HPTuner it to give tire-roasting 100% torque from a stop?
GM plans to release an OTA with an optional upgrade that gives you velocity driving mode. Which turns this gradual acceleration off as well as unlocks some extra torque
@@sergegolovchansky9114 will ZDX use this as default?
@@aspecreviews no because it’s a class below the Cadillac, the Acura isn’t *above* the Lyriq.
ZDX adds HUD, rear wiper and B&O audio. Lyriq and ZDX both qualify for the full credit.
ZDX has air suspension and this does not.
@@blackwhirlwind1245this does not need it. That’s the difference.
I saw a few on the road, it looks really nice!
Same design as my Ego electric mower.
I really think this will be my next car!!! I love it!!!
Not to be outdone...I am purchasing two as soon as the service department straightens out a few kinks.
Your explanation is very unique and can point out the shortcomings of the car.
Cadillac Lyriq…The best selling luxury crossover EV so far this year…fact!!
The screen inside looks amazing. Reminds me of the newer BMW screens that are 8k and have very high resolution images.
The Lyriq’s display actually boasts a 9K resolution, which is even better than the quality of the BMW’s and Cadillac Escalade’s 8k resolution displays. It isn’t as large or as grand as the 38-inch OLED display in the Cadillac Escalade but the 33-inch single glass display has way more pixels and the ability to present more colors to the eye.
Amazing car! Looks stunning and the drive is super confortable! wow!
I love how it looks. The size and length are imposing but a stylish design overall. In Canada the Lyriq undercuts the Mercedes EQE SUV and BMW iX, and while costs more than the Mach-E and Model Y it does feel more upscale than either.
Im happy right now with my Audi e-tron, but i would definitely consider a Lyriq in the future as an alternative.
I want to make it known, I do not care about Frunks.
He always mentions people always ask him about frunks. I just want to add my vocal vote to show, some people don't lol
Just to let it be known.
Who are my fellow Frunk Ignore-ers
Same here. We do not miss the frunk. The area under the floor in the rear takes place of the frunk. It is the perfect size for 3 grocery bags.
Gorgeous and well worth the wait!!
At the dealer service department?
It looks the business specially in all black 👍🏽👍🏽
at the 11 min mark when you talk about phone as a key, is that available?
With acces to Tesla Superchargers network this vehicle, slightly used, already depreciated, makes a lots of sence to buy for someone looking for comfort cruising.
I would like to watch a comparison with Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV AWD since pricewise they are not too far apart.
I hope you can review the celestiq some day
I rarely see this in the Bay Area
I got to drive one and I was impressed
seen a handful in NYC
Been seeing a bunch in Washington state
Check the tow yards.
I've seen a handful in the DMV area with maybe half appearing to be chauffeur or Lyft driven.
The sport 3 model is so beautiful
I’ve had mine for about 2 months and it is a very awesome car. Coming from a Mach e this car hands down is a better vehicle! Super quite smooth on the road. Only complaint is GM/CADILLAC dropped the ball on the sound system. It isn’t that great and I have the exact car as in the video except I did get the nappa leather in mine. No sun roof tho. But over all a good car! I may go ahead and pay the extra 1200 bucks and get the velocity upgrade! Gives it more horsepower and torque, bringing it up to 500 hp and 524 pound feet of torque. So let’s see how that does for the vehicle.
In the configurator on the upgraded napa leather it doesn't show that it wraps the upper door panel or dash. Is this the case in yours?
@@lightweighth2609 I have the napa leather and I can confirm that it doesn't have leather wrapped dash or door upper panels. It adds real leather on the seats, leather wrap on the steering wheel, led illuminated engraved wood inserts in the doors, and glowing door seal inserts. Overall, I think it's worth it, gets it from a "premium" feel to almost a "luxury" feel.
Did you check the audio settings? When we took delivery of our Lyriq the sound was terrible. I checked the audio settings and found that the surround sound was off and the balance was set to front-right. After adjusting the settings everything was great.
@@craigzellner4159 what did you adjust it too?
Go to Audio> settings > sound. Then check/adjust fade & balance. I set mine to the center. Right on the rear if the center console.
Then the sound mode.
I set that to front and the slider to surround. It made a huge difference.
All of the settings were to the front left when we got the vehicle.
I thought the factory would put everything in a neutral position.
7:35 Do you know if this is moving to NACS? In the near term?
Why go NACS? Everybody on here says Cadillac is the best and no automaker is better. So stick to CCS. Why copy Tesla. Tesla is awful right? No car is better than a Caddy right? So road trip in your Lyriq using your CCS. See how far you get before you want to implode EA.
When testing for speed you should've been in sport mode. Can you do a side by side comparison of the Lyriq and the ZDX?
Question. If rear wheel drive is 340 HP then can the AWL get 680 HP if they wanted to?
You report a 260 mile range? Lead foot and not using dynamic braking? My Lyriq Luxury Level 3 with 22” wheels now shows 325 mile range after a recent trip (200+ miles round trip), driving the speed limit (up to 65 mph)! Weather a little warmer, but not summer. Also in south central to eastern PA with plenty of hills. Exceeded the advertised 307 mile range and my expectations. Another range tester showed 260 mile range when driving 80 mph, but similar to my results when you drop it to 70 mph max. Love the SuperCruise and the paddle shifter for dynamic breaking to full stop and hold. Great vehicle and exceptional value when compared to other luxury brands.
If you got a car after it was taken to the dealer for the Center Tray replacement the dealer may have not properly installed it and that is where you saw the panel alignment issue.
Wow, beautiful car!
From italy 👋
Sat in the lyriq once, like most things on this EV. Except its wagon like styling and missing rear wiper
Saw one in the central valley of California. In this exact color. Looks nice. Buuuut….its a GM. Sooo…yeah😅 if money was no object and it wasn’t my daily driver. I’d definitely lease one of these.
Needs soft closing doors and ventilated rear seats. This is an expensive Cadillac. Those things should be on this car.
Is this battery type best to keep between 20-80% charge?
Yes! There are lots of videos on why you want to do this on *any* EV.
Amazing machine
You'll be a rock star down at the Golden Corral Buffet Early Bird.
I see you Cadillac...pushing that Hip Hop Lyriq. 😆
is the super cruise part of the wheel heated?
I had a rental 2023 Escalade with super cruise and it wasn't heated in that area, only the sides and bottom.
When can you review the new traverse
Must was the hubby calling you got so quiet 😂😂
The haters want to change the narrative for *gm* so badly but it’s not working out well. They tried it with the Hummer EV concept too. They said they would never build it, then when it came to production all they talked about were software glitches and that it’s heavy.
It’s the same story with the Cadillac Lyriq. Its concept was a dream until it actually came to production and now all they want to talk about is a software glitch which every competitor has also experienced. The reality is, except for the Tesla, the Lyriq outsells everything else in its class. The crazy part is *gm* is only just getting production ramped up. I feel it’s only a matter of time before it and the Blazer EV are the best selling EVs.
Yep, just a matter of time, go Mary/gov motors!
That explains why they reduced production of the Blazer, and why this isn't being built at the rate they started the Blazer out with. The only People that are buying EVs are the people that just follow the leader, and gay people. Nobody else wants this shit because there's no reason to deal with the unnecessary responsibilities that comes with an EV over just buying 20 on pump 8.......... Try again.
So much nicer than the Genesis electric suv.
Exterior yes interior not even close
At least Genesis can make a decent quality interior... But yes, exterior wise this is nicer. Still doesn't excuse the interior build quality being as poor as a mid-00s Chevy though.
@@austing4321 At least the Caddy will not burst into flames or get stolen with a USB,LOL. Hyundai quality is not better than Cadillacs. That's a fact. Look it up.
@@mlamike You know damn well that’s such an exaggeration and I promise you GMs quality in general cannot be up to Genssis or some other certain Hyundai models. I know Hyundai had a lot of quality issues of late, but still have a better track record overall. And they’re actually working to improve whereas GM continues to put out junk. Sit in one and you’ll feel the cost-cutting a lot more than a modern Hyundai. None of these brands are up to par with Lexus or Acura in reliability however, I do know Lexus is a fairly mediocre brand today aside from that.
@@austing4321 I respectfully disagree,
Soyfan.. what were your thoughts on the AKG System? Idk if you would want too but if I get that velocity upgrade would you do another video with my car? I would be honored for you to use my car in a review and get your honest opinion on the car then! Let me know! Btw! Videos are amazing ! Keep doing what you do here! 😊
Overall it's not bad, but it's also not great. I traded in my Volvo XC60 for a L3 Sport trim Lyriq. The Volvo had the Bowers & Wilkins sound system and it was freakin' amazing. The AKG system really needs work compared to that. If you're listening to XM, you may not notice anything since they compress those significantly. On the other hand, if you listen to higher quality audio, there's a difference and I do think with some eq work, it can be acceptable, but it's not in the same league as the B&W audio system.
Yes. The sound system is a little lacky. I was waiting for the polestar 3 but my rep was telling me that it was going to be delayed to 2025 which I did not want to wait that long but I was really looking forward to that bowers and Wilkins sound system it was suppose to have. Which I had been told was a really good system. Damn Cadillac for not going the extra mile on that. The more and more I drive the car I love it but like soyfan said it’s very cheap in the inside in certain areas for a 80k car. But hey no perfect car. So, what I am going to do is take it to Best Buy and have them tell me what can be done. It needs a sub and it may need a better amp. So we will see!
To think the ZDX from Acura shares a platform witn this. Don't know anyone personally who is getting one let alone the main car itself(Lyriq)
I have yet to see one of these on the road. Are they selling?
They are selling. They really just starting hitting dealerships. Ironically we've only had ours for a few weeks and I've only seen two others on the road, but one was exactly the same color and trim as ours and we were next to them at the stop light. :)
What 2 years for this car. Definitely no regrets it's not perfect, but pretty darn close
09:20 but anywhere else in the world they do!
And (for the umpteenth time) you gotta understand that the METRIC system is the one and only ACCURATE measurement system of the world!!!!
Lol no one understands kilometers man, get over it.
Stop being so weird
Exactly. Anything that *gm* does they complain about it.
If you brake hard, it damages the ABS control unit and you lose brake assistance. Recall coming.
Aussie here, unfortunately not available in Australia, but if it was, I'd take this before any German equivalent.
The starting price is a bargin compared with other luxury SUVs in the class!
Be aware I work at a gm service dp and these are coming with alot of issues such as software problems, issues with charging ports, headlight won’t turn on at times and much more
More fear mongering from the *gm* hate campaign. This is an absolutely asinine comment from you but very much expected. Did you think that if you worked for any of *gm’s* competitors that you _wouldn’t_ see software issues amongst other growing pains as production ramps up where things could be improved? Too many are talking as if this is a *gm* thing when that is not the case.
@@G-Rated I work on these cars and see more these vehicles than you will ever experience in your life.
My Lyriq was built in December 23 and I have not yet experienced a single flaw.
@@KarenVitale-iu9qk Some cars come from the factory with more issues than others. Your car might not experience any issues at all that’s just how it is
I still have an issue with having to deal with a car that does not have at least a temporary spare tire (first they shrunk it, now they've gotten rid of it altogether).
On the positive side, I'm glad to see it Cadillac as one of the few remaining carmakers to maintain a sunroof that actually still opens for ventilation. That's another thing that seem to be going away with a lot of EVs.
Get rid of all sunroofs
This video is 13 hours old as I write this, & the car qualifies for the rebate right now. Great video otherwise & thanks Redline. One thing the car's missing is hud, even the Blazer ev has it, very odd.
Oh my, This is my only Cadillac EV to afford.
5900 lbs curb weight is mad
I want one but will have to wait for the used market... the cost new is more than I can do
The designs holding up well. Shocked that Lincoln isn’t competing
Of course it is. Lincoln has 5 new SUV that compete one for one with Cadillac. The mid-size Nautilus is my favorite.
@@krane15 kinda. They have 4 ICE SUV competitors, but where is there MPU EV competitor?
@@krane15 : It depends. If you want an ICE vehicle, yes. However there is no EV car/suv. I think that's where @JoshAmped was going with his comment.
If you are in an area with bad cellular reception... it will take time to boot up some apps and cause slowdown.
Hyundai said the same thing about the IONIC 5's rear window.....
I was under the impression the AKG in the Escalade was best in the automotive industry? Does that not apply here?
No such thing really. Sound quality is always all a matter of taste. Things like audio system can be top rated, however.
@@krane15 I meant best as in quality in the Escalade.
The AKG system certainly needs to be tuned better. It feels too bass-heavy (boomy) and I find myself adjusting the equalizer controls pretty often. My Honda sounds crisper than this AKG system. There are also pretty audible fit and finish related creaks (at low speed) that truly annoy me. Other than that its such a pleasure to drive this beauty! The ride quality is simply the best.
@@Mektare for 60k Canadian. I can see fit and finish issues. Take a look at upper mid tier Benz products they are terrible for plastic on plastic squeaks. That drives me nuts. I still have my 2014 Cadillac ATS bought in 2014. Running like a charm. I'm curious how the Lyric will do in winter temps with the battery
I wasn't impressed with the AKG in my Lyriq initially. But once I got into the audio settings and turned on the surround sound it now sounds amazing.
This one is reaaaally pretty.
6,000 lb weight is INSANE
Ya and don’t get hit with it.
For a nice sized & spacious EV, not really “insane” for it to be heavy.
Lots of electrons to haul around
That’s pretty common for an ev of this size.
@@Wasabi9111Ioniq 5 is about 4600 lbs. Ioniq 5 N is only 4900 lbs.
It’s just nice to see an American car maker taking pride in design. Teslas were cool 10 years ago but …
I’ve never been much of a Cadillac fan and this vehicle didn’t help changing my mind. There’s so many more SUVs I’d take over this one.
Just an FYI, you can't "brake torque" an EV. Some let you put your foot on the break and release the brake as a form of launch mode but ultimately it isn't doing what it does on a ICE vehicle. Many EVs don't let you do this as a safety measure. Torque doesn't need to build on an EV.
Not sure why everyone in the comments is ignoring the typical GM fit and finish issues on the interior. Nice materials mean nothing if they aren't screwed together well. This isn't even a preproduction model either! You're really just paying for the looks at this point. Those issues in ANY modern vehicle over 30k should be a dealbreaker imho.
Literally every person in America who has to calculate torque is doing it in Newton Meters.
ohhh man look how shiny everything is on that baby... better have a weekly subscription to windex to get rid of the finger smudges and dust and everything else that gets on there.
We now have 6K mikes on our lyriq (luxury 2) after owning the Vhichle 6 month and it has been in the shop for almost 1 month. Reason is noisy interior and not worthy the 75K price tag, however the main reason is failure to charge and stops the charge after only charging less than hour. Along with the failure to charge, traction control, AC and regenerating braking has failed. Dealer has claimed software as the reason and it did failed again to charge for the 5th time. We still like the car, however if the charging issue can not be corrected it will have to go. Good thing we did not part with the old Lexus !
Why do they focus on quickness instead of range?
What is the point of torque braking a 0-60mph run with an electric motor under the hood? There is no need for this with an electric motor. It is instantaneous. Only ICE Vehicles benefit from this practice. Just floor the damn thing already !
No rear wiper.......a showstopper. What were they thinking, since 1968 all my cars had rear wipers! Midwest winters!
The 20" wheels are actually a $1,000 deduct - not an extra cost. I know this because that's what I have on my Sport 3. Also, the standard interior on this car is not leather, but a faux leather. The only way to get a leather interior is by upgrading to the Nappa leather package. Super Cruise is not available on all Luxury and Sport models, only the level 2 & 3 variants of each. As a professional reviewer it would be nice if you did a little more homework on the vehicles to provide accurate information.
I am sure he meant to say a $1k credit versus $1k up charge! He is a very thorough and knowledgeable auto journalist!
My updated AWD LYRIQ has a range of 332 miles
Nice, but the rear end is a deal breaker for me. To me, that back end is really ugly.
And Cadillac is usually so good with its styling. I suspect the put someone new in charge. I'm not sure what to make of it, but I could never live with it.

@@krane15 I don't understand how a bunch of designers, engineers, and executives sit there and look at that back end and say, "thats beautiful." makes me laugh.
@@quantx6572 I think the rear is absolutely gorgeous, so perhaps beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the ones that dare to be different understand this. Other manufacturers will be copying this sleek & futuristic styling soon, mark my words. 🤷🏽♂️

It's really annoying when you guys keep talking about how disappointed you are because the car is not fast enough? 0-60 in 4.8 seconds isn't fast enough anymore? this is a daily driver car. I like your reviews, but I feel you need to get back to reality, and approach each car for what it's built for. If you want all cars sub 4 seconds acceleration, what are you leaving for sports cars, and cars that are built for that.
Wow all black looks sick ❤

Absolutely delusional.
It is time to start reporting weight of the battery packs for all vehicles. This will explain the allegedly poor acceleration times.
