How'd They Pull This Off? // 2025 Toyota Camry XSE Review

- You'd think ditching the 2GR V6 in favor of a hybrid 4 cylinder would ruin the Camry XSE.. but it's not what you'd expect. This new Camry is absolutely still a performance oriented sedan with a reasonable price!

“Just make cars more affordable and people will start buying them”. This fact escapes the auto manufacturers brain trust and yet here is our Sarah stating fact…..
problem is people bitch about high priced 100k truck they bought and how it depreciates so fast. yet they are the problem cause they bought it still. manufacturer are seeing that you cost vehicles are still selling well. so they are going to focus on high priced vehicles for maximum profits. people quit being dumb buying over priced new cars, price will come down, dealerships CANNOT have new vehicles not move on the lot. people stop buying expensive, cost effect will show it's face again.
Cheap cars, simple cars are being killed by regulationism and eco-nuttery not manufacturers. That and bad money, of course.
Ferrari just entered the SUV market. lol
Most things are based on trends, like big chain grocery chains they probably use AI to figure out the pricing of cars. Its like this because trends let them know that's what people will pay for it.
They do make affordable cars. You can buy a brand new car for $10.000 if you wanted.
It’s nice to see Toyota still making sedans. Not everyone wants a crossover-basically a plastic cladded station wagon on tippy toes.
unfortunately most do.
Hey, I like my NX350h ……
@@Xander1Sheridan True, but most don't even really know what they are buying. I see people calling the RAV4 a "mid-size" suv all the time and its not even really an SUV. Its a crossover and even if you go by American standards, its a CUV, Compact SUV.
You need to ground clearance here in florida. The flooding gets worse and worse every year as they keep developing and destroying the swamps.
which car company doesnt have a sedan rofl
I wish Toyota never quit making the Camry wagon. That would be near perfection.
Still daily driving my ‘91 Camry wagon. 😏
I mean the new Crown Signia is basically a Camry Wagon? It has the same engine. But not really a Camry by price unfortunately
Talk about the new reality, where automakers will only bring something back if they can charge a boatload for it. Versus, say, the Yaris. Although that also hints whether consumer tastes are really that strong
@@jaredblommel1384 not camry price is the problem, that thing is priced in Lexus territory.
@@gregorskiff wagons are upscale cars
It's wild to think the world is so flooded with boring crossovers that now even a Camry looks and feels sporty.
US manufacturers don't even have sedans anymore. We HAVE to shop at European or Asian dealers for that option.
i have a camry right now and i hate that i also want an SUV like everyone else hahah
They did make it more sporty. Roof is lower than what it should be for a daily driver sedan.
@@hex1233 You mean Asian and Japanese. They are different.
@@hex1233Cadillac is still a hold out, no?
Toyota’s ECVT is a masterwork of engineering, using all gears and no troublesome belt.
Aye! Someone who understands the engineering behind them 👍🏻
@@SarahnTuned Yeah, Weber explained it perfectly. I was literally blown away at how brilliant a design it is. Gears are where it’s at! And of course - Toyota.
@@SarahnTunedI’ve heard so many auto reviewers refer to as a CVT, implying it is the old CVT design. As you say, it has planetary gears and has modes based on the relative rotation speed of the two motors. CVT in name only.
Probably the best review I’ve seen on the 2025 Camry. Thanks.
@@TripleBergand sound
Thank you, Toyota, for not messing with fake gear shifts, just a steady stream of power how it should be.
waiting for subaru to get it so we can max out their drivetrains too, fake gears are for rubes who have no idea what's inside their car
Subaru take notes. Only single brain cell organisms want a CVT to simulate an auto
One of the reasons I bought Camry hybrid. I don’t want a car to fake what it’s doing.
@@mthulhuI know. So stupid. CVT not saving consumers much money in gas. We want automatics with gears or manuals.
Exactly, the fake shift points are the only thing I hate about my Subaru Legacy. The fact that they didn't even include an option to turn the fake shifts off is just stupid. It would be both faster AND get better mileage with them OFF.
Long time camry owner. 2011, 2014, 2017, 2019. They were all great. Never had a single issue and no complaints.
This one is fantastic.
I have a 2018 Camry XSE hybrid and I love it. Comfortable for long trips and very economical. Last summer my wife and I drove from Reno Nevada to Green Bay Wisconsin and back with lots of side trips along the way. Total distance was 6800 miles and we used 145 gallons of gas while driving slightly above the speed limits all the way. Climbed the Rockies with no sweat. Everything worked as it is supposed to and did not use one drop of oil. These are great cars.
Impressive fuel consumption. Even though full EV cost less for fuel but overall hybrid is the best choice at this point in time considering the problems with charging full EV. Traveling on a trip of 6800 miles, the last thing you want to think of is Wether there's a charging station next when the EV battery is about to be empty.
Toyota has the best infotainment center with the needed traditional buttons and knobs. All manufacturers need to follow suite.
Every one has there own preference

"Turbulence fish ribulators" and "Tuco Salamaca tight." Some fresh word candy to unleash upon the unsuspecting. Thanks Sarah!
That interior is impressive, there aren't a lot of manufacturers doing anything besides black/grey/tan these days.
The red interior is nice but the outgoing 8th gen already offered that option
I recently got a new SUV with red leather. I was reluctant at first, but extremely happy I made that decision. I was getting tired of black with my previous cars.
I would not call two tablets glued together instead of real instruments impressive.
@@TinLeadHammer I was referring to the bold color.
The outside still sucks.
Thanks @ToyotaUSA for letting our fav car reviewer have a go at this preproduction 🎉😊
Pre-production?! Sarah you're moving up in the world! :D
Also, holy shit that is THE fastest voice recognition I have ever seen in my life.
Not really, this car has been floating around for almost a year now. It’s already on sale.
Two cuts in that voice recognition shot :)
@@TinLeadHammer I know lol. It's still less buggy than Mercedes' or BMW's voice recog.
@@SarahnTuned I know, but getting a preprod model for review is not common - at least not for a facelift.
"Making them more affordable for people to buy." -- Wise words Sensei!
they are somewhat affordable... the problem is the crazy mark ups the stealership put in the cars
Nice job Toyota 👍. Awesome job Sarah !!! 👍👍
Totally agree with you that cars are made for roads and roads are meant for cars. Also, if you need more cargo space, get a wagon instead of an SUV.
If you actually need space you get a minivan. The only pro to SUV’s are their towing.
I am all for wagons, but they are almost dead. At least in North America.
I’m so disappointed that my Golf Alltrack was killed off for the Taos. It is 100% better, the Taos is utterly pointless because the Tiguan is also 100% better for a couple grand more. Also disappointing is Europe still gets a Passat Alltrack which would be even better, but we don’t.
@@aluminumfalcon552 On the other hand, the Germans killed the Passat sedan. With German interest in practicality wagons outsell sedans 9:1 there.
I wish the car care nut made a review on this car. Would be great to hear his take on this car. I love his tech and explanation on the cars amd review.
Indeed… A little bit of something IS better than nothing. 😉 That is a gorgeous interior with the rich looking red perforated materials. I hope Toyota continues to buck the trend of eliminating cars in favor of boring crossovers/SUVs. Trends don’t last forever. Thank you for a great review, Sarah. 👍👍👍
Agreed, that interior is really nice looking. Granted, if you adhere to color theory the all-red would make you angry all the time, so maybe the customizable "gauge cluster" and other such features are meant to balance that out??
And for that price, we'll see if the production version keeps to that, but a car for less than 40k is amazing these days.
SUV box shaped vehicles are fashion statements and would have a place if everyone was driving around 6 people or lots of cargo all the time. Instead SUVs mostly have 1 or 2 people and convert most of their energy into pushing air.
The Camry has always been a great car, but this 2025 model is exceptional. I've seen them at the dealership, and they are awesome! These are Lexus like.
Excellent review, Sarah. You never disappoint.
Thank you Sarah for reviewing the car you're in. So many CZcamsrs poo poo this car cus they can't be known for liking a Camry. However The Camry is decent modern car. No arguing that. If ppl are looking to buy a Camry don't expect it to be a Twin Turbo BWM.
Not to mention that a TT BMW have a 1/4 life expectancy of a Camry.
The 2024 Camry is actually getting a lot of respectable reviews on YT. I think Toyota has gone the extra mile to make a very drivable peppy affordable sedan with all the things Camry is known for: reliability and value.
Not a bad car, does what it’s supposed to do.
Exterior car colors have gone away, but interior colors are taking off!
Idk, the 25 camry has an interesting new color, and I have always liked toyotas mid night blue.
I’m looking for a new car and the ‘25 Camry is definitely on my list now! Thanks Sarah for the timely review! 😎😃
The LE or XLE will handle New York potholes better than the SE/XSE
Just the greatest content creator 🙂♥️
Probably the best car reviewer who selects appropriate outfits for each review. ❤❤
Camry is about to offer a fine package inside and out! I have been a fan of the Subaru Legacy all-wheel drive sedan: Camry is the place I would turn to for my next vehicle.
Just noticed you gave a thermal effeciency rating, not sure I've noticed that before, maybe because it was something that I didn't know I needed to nerd out on. Anyhoo...Toyota have made a press release in the last week or so that with their new generation motors, they've made significant gains in thermal effeciency ratings. Who knew that effeciency is something to glorioujsly nerd out on. Nice!
Lady. Your videos are superb.
I just love how typically Camry’s DO NOT have shiny crap around the dash! I HATE getting blinded by the sun reflecting in my eyes by some shiny bull crap! Oh 😢
I have that problem on my RAV4. I don't want to spend hundreds on a tacky, cheap carbon replica to cure it though.

A shout out to Kentucky Ballistics? Scott would be impressed.
@@wilbready I didn’t get the reference…. I just thought it was a hilarious comment from the dirty minded side of Sarah’s inner monologue.
Great review Sarah, and I definitely agree with you regarding sedans vs. SUVs/xovers.
That rear exhaust segment going diagonally across with all the bends is an interesting design decision
Great job on the video Sarah! Thanks for making it.
I had a brand-new Camry for a rental car when I was traveling last week. It was so new it didn't even have plates yet. It was an excellent car; I was thoroughly impressed. Fuel economy was amazing and it was remarkably zippy too.
Sarah, happy Women Veterans Day. Thank you for your service. 🙏🏼
Thank you for the comprehensive review. Most enjoyable & informative.
Sarah, always enjoyable and enlightening. Well done.
14:1 compression ratio, 0W-8 oil, 235/40/19 tires, and e-rear axle AWD!
Some impressive drivetrain design features. 👍
Another gem Sarah-- shuperb!😅
Drove a 2022 Camry and it performed beautifully. Really enjoyd driving this one. If I were in the market for a sedan, this would be it
great video , I am getting 42 mpg on my 2016 corolla , so this car looks like a winner .
12:40 😂 Best moment ever in a car review? Definitely.
exactly my first thought was going for the flashlight on my phone
This actually looks interesting. I can't wait to see the final product. As always, the humor is great. Keep it up!
Loved the review! I'll have to put this car on my list for my next one!
Toyota should thank you for that thumbnail. The lighting, colour and angle look perfect!

Yet another great car review, Sarah. My favorite part of your reviews is the bolstering test. Very funny. I also like the braking test, to see how much your hair flies forward. Keep up the great work.
Great assessment as always. Thanks, Sarah!
Great review as always...great editing as always...$38,000 = about $800/mo ....not too affordable. I live in NM where the average income is $20,000/yr...household income is $44,000/yr....
I have a ten year old Accord with the 6 speed manual, so I win!
Until someone totals your ride, insurance doesn't pay replacement and you're back into this sucker car market, having to pay for a bunch of tech trash you never wanted. Drive safe!
@@ultraneightI cringe on that thought. My 02 Honda accord 285k miles and it’s solid as a rock. A tiny accident and insurance will total it 😢
Thanks for another adventure Sarah!🌻🐧
2020 RAV4 Hybrid Best eco score; 97! 10 mile drive on flat US50 hwy. on a 67 degree day. I took 2 miles to get to 65mph, 6 miles of cruise control and 2 more miles to slow down with the brake pressed just far enough to move the needle into the regen mode. Best tank average of 47mpg in around town driving all under 45mph. I really is a fun game!
Great review, gotta love the "Sky Net" reference...
Hey Sarah, you stole my thunder on the front of the Camry resembling the supra. I had an 88 with a Targa top one of my all-time favorite vehicles. I wish I had it today. Have a great one as always🐧🐧🐧👍
lol. Dual tips, no fake stuff! Sorry, one of those tips is a dummy pipe. No exhaust passes through the outer tip. I have a 2023 Camry XSE with dual quad tips and there’s a dummy pipe on each side.
lol. bolstering nope. I'm dying. 😂
Great review...THanks.
And here I am just wanting a 1992 camry.
Looking fine and fresh today Sarah!
Amazing Sarah 😊
Awesome review, love to see that face in the braking test haha, nice to hear some compliments on the hybrid powertrain and the huge panoramic ceiling is amazing and agree about keeping the classic car around ( just like Mazda6 was discontinued) !
The Mazda6 was a great car. Due to higher CX-5 sales, it was discontinued.
Just make them more affordable.... Couldn't agree more❤.
OK , you have one of the best car review websites! Great tests and style!
Thanks Sarah! That is a very interesting vehicle. Hybrid for the Future. Looks actually cool. Would daily this.
12:00 Naaahhh as a past sedan owner, sedans are essentially useless for carrying any large items that aren't suitcases because the opening is by default an awkward shape and taking stuff out is a pain. Hatches and wagons for the win. I once wanted to pick up a used armchair for my mother and despite being almost 500l in volume the trunk couldn't take it due to the shape of the opening. You know what could? A first gen Yaris hatch.
Yup. Hard to put a stroller inside without dead lifting it in lol.
Totally agree with you Sarah about Subaru discontinuing the Legacy. I bought a 2017 3.6R and love it. Subaru replaced the naturally aspirated flat 6 with a turbo 4 first then seemed to struggle competing with Honda and Toyota in this segment. Really sad to see the Legacy 6 roll into the sunset.
Fun review. Hope it sells well so Toyota keeps building them.
Commuter Camry doesn't need 19 in rims 😂😂😂
Guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurl what took you so loooong?!!! this is a bomb
Love that yellow pointer.
Thank you for another great review. Please do a review on a base LE with as little options as possible. Most likely that is what I will buy.
Impossible. Toyota only has base trims at their media events, I don’t attend those anymore as it’s not worth the time to make a halfass video in a rush at those things.
oooh..pre-production. We gettin fancy up in here. 😉
Thanks Sarah, great review!

Very nice review Sarah .... It's nice to compare this to my 2023 Corolla Hybrid LE AWD ..... Would of maybe looked into one of these last year but I had to have AWD.
Another awesome review as always Sarah...Toyota delivering the goods!
Sarah, did you find any information on the rear drive speed limitations?
Specifically thinking about when driving at highway speeds in like 2"+ of snow the rolling resistance will cause the non-continue-less driven tires to slow down inducing slide drift...and the extra weight will make it swing with more force too. Response time delay also plays into this scenario negatively as well.
This lady really knows her car stuff! Great review Sarah. First review to draw striking resemblance of the Camry nose to the Mark 3 Supra shark nose. I had that car when I was in the U.S. Greetings from Cameroon 🇨🇲
Thanks
Love the pointer.
Great expertise, awesome work.
Totally agree abt sedans. My kids 09 maz6 mostly runs rings around my 15 cx5. Quieter, better handling .

Dope review as usual! Yeah car companies. Make these cars more affordable! 👏👏👏
Crazy how I see these on the road already
It’s already on sale, I get press cars after all the mainstream journalists already had them.
I really enjoy your ordinary-car car reviews, especially those with models that we don't get here in Europe. Always intersting to see what people over there drives. The previous Camry was on sale here, but you hardly ever see them and I doubt this one will be sold here. And oh - the Meter Settings icon looks like Flynn's lightcycle from Tron Legacy! 😁 Brilliant review - thank you for what you do and Stay Awesome!

I like Sarah N. Tuned because of her classic Fox Body.
I smoked some rims last night but I had a heck of a time getting them lit :)
Bye Bye 3.5 V6. We will miss you. And the sound of that CVT really sux. GR8 review Sarah, of a pretty decent daily...
It really does suck. We've got a 2021 corolla hatcback & its sounding kinda concerningly louder & more whiney at 31k miles. I'm going to change the fluid despite them saying its lifetime because I understand that they are just saying these fluids can go longer to show lower costs of ownership.
