2025 Cadillac Optiq | Caddy’s Smallest EV Is The EV Answer To The... Lexus RX?

  • Can't afford a Lyriq, but want something with a snazzy interior ans Super Cruise? There's now a Cadillac Optiq for you! The 2025 Optiq is related to the Chevy Equinox EV, naturally, but has entirely different sheet metal and a unique interior. It also gets almost everything that's optional in the Equinox standard like AWD, SuperCruise, and a huge 33-inch LCD dash. Pricing is expected to start around $54,000, or $46,500 after the $7,500 tax credit. The 300 HP dual motor system may not be as exciting as some, but that tax credit sounds pretty tasty...

    Supercruise HARDWARE is standard, after a few years there is of course a monthly 30-50 dollar payment required to make it work. Please mention this in all your videos about GM cars so people know what they're getting into. Want nav too, that will be extra per month as well. I have a fabric dash. It's problematic. Hard to clean and super easy to get a nick in the fabric and then you have a stray strand like a sweater that is permanently in your face. Stains are hard to get out and dust accumulates on it and not as easy to wipe off. And you have to wipe with a microfiber. If you wipe with a normal cloth the lint comes off.. and if you use paper you can have bits of paper towel get embedded into the fabric. Not that it's impossible to get that out, but super annoying and extra work.

    • @G-Rated
      @G-Rated Před 27 dny

      Yep. I also think about how Honda could’ve gone to Ford, Stellantis, Tesla or anyone they wanted for that matter for a EV collaboration yet they came to *gm* for the partnership. That told me A LOT about the Ultium platform and how it must be hard to beat.

    • @kipamore
      @kipamore Před 27 dny +2

      @@G-Rated Agreed, and it's something we lose sight of. A company like GM really REALLY knows what they are doing, in a way that a company like Tesla does not. Chassis tuning, fit and finish, cost control, parts supply, switchgear, all that boring stuff that upstart car companies struggle with is stuff that GM has had nailed down for over 100 years. I own a 2017 Bolt, and think it's GREAT for all that stuff. The software doesn't crash, if you need a suspension part you buy it at Autozone, generally good engineering, and it's been flawless day-to-day. For Honda to get a couple of compliance cars, their only real choices were Kia/Hynd or GM, and I think they made the right choice. Only those two OEs build an actual range of EVs. Ford has basically two, the Germans are failing at EVs, Jag and Volvo feel like half baked products, Nissan can't seem to get it together, and Toyota has but 1 EV.

    • @G-Rated
      @G-Rated Před 27 dny

      @@kipamore You’re absolutely correct. It’s something many CHOOSE to lose sight of because it’s *gm* and their naysayers who said this would be a failed attempt from the company simply don’t appreciate how much of a *success* story _Ultium_ actually turned out to be. Channels like “Out of Spec” with their first Lyriq review and TFL with their initial and very bogus GMC Hummer review, both entities tried to tarnish the _Ultium_ brand’s image earlier on and both channels have back pedaled and given *gm’s* bespoke EV platform it’s due praises. TFL recently said their Supertruck is “almost over engineered” which is the exact point of a $120k halo vehicle.
      I’ve realized many people’s objective was to change the narrative for *gm* on social media as it pertained to all things Ultium, but their first generation EVs are actually really good.

      This is an Equinox EV with a Cadillac shell, which is okay, but they should have given it more horsepower and better charging speed to distinguish it from the Equinox. My guess is that GM has decided that EVs will need less parts and maintenance so that’s why they’ve singled out their EVs to get no CarPlay. I’d give the Google system a chance if I had both but since I know I like CarPlay and I know I’m already paying for enough subscriptions I’ll choose one of the many other cars that does have CarPlay.
