Props to AO for getting these highlights up incredibly fast!
Yes indeed ♥️
AND these were good highlights. TY AO!
Yeah I wasn’t able to watch live cuz it was so late and i had school
Much better than the US open highlights
and made available to not just in Australia
Kudos to AO and Infosys for getting these extended highlights blazing fast. Much appreciated!!
They missed one of the highlights where he got two incredible get from Khachanov hitting it to the corner, but you do get it out fast for those who didn't watch it live
Once again, Nadal’s passion and his passionate fist pumps at crucial points were just too motivational and emotional 🥲
But how the hell did Nadal managed to win 20 grand slams while dealing with painful foot abnormal growth birth defect .. which he says he's still dealing with right now ??
@@88feji Because he’s the goat on clay and top5 in the other surfaces, while Fed and Djo are literally the inverse... with another calendar he could have 25 by now... Djo and Fed less than 20...
@@88feji Every tennis player suffers a lot of pain even when they aren’t injured, nadal must have a super high pain tolerance , there have been pictures of his hands with huge blisters and he played as if were normal.... I’m sure that he takes pain killers once in a while if it’s a really bad day, most players do that
@@88feji I'm wondering whether playing on clay feels softer for his foot since he can slide a little bit that the sudden breaks won't be as aggressive on his foot. On hard court you can't really slide so the sudden stops put more stress on the foot. Maybe..
@@rodrigopineiro777 yes, I always felt they should make the AO a carpet surface so you have four surfaces across all four slams. That way, a hard court specialist wouldn't be playing 50% of slams on their favoured surfaces as Djokovic has had a career being able to.
I've been a fan of pro tennis for 50 years, but I don't think I've ever seen a player with situational court awareness superior to Nadal's. He know where his opponent is at all times. It's uncanny how often he wrong-foots the other player or puts the other player into a corner.
Fax
@Wayne Batson Best I've seen (in terms of court awareness) was David Nalbandian at his prime (repeatedly wrong-footed the Big 3: at times, seemingly at will), but Nalbandian is coaching Miomir Kecmanovic nowadays.
He is like the floyd mayweather of tennis.
Yeah, an interesting note from Rafa was when they did the exhibition match with Federer in Africa, they build the court on a big stadium. Rafa said it was tough because his spacial awareness was off, the visual cues were different, distances around the court were different. It was interesting to hear that he is very aware of his surrounding and also opponents.
What an amazing performance of determination and grit. Always such a joy to watch Rafa play. I had goosebumps at the end of the match. Few more tweaks with his game and Rafa will be ready for Zverev.
Don't discount Shapo
@@figo7ronaldo Shapovalov is young and a good player but the biggest issue with Shapovalov is that his level of consistency is not there yet. He also definitely needs a proper sports psychologist to improve the mental side of his game. Zverev is enjoying an easy draw so far and he is cruising. I am hoping Shapovalov will put up a fight if not win.
@@SM-hc2nz Yes, I agree but people still shouldn't discount him. It won't be easy for Zverev like most people think. And anything can happen
@@SM-hc2nz Don’t think Shapo wont come guns blazing for Zverev. He already beat him twice in the last three games and in the 2 games in Australia he smoked him two years ago and lost in a 3rd set tiebreak last month. Shapo’s game is one which many of the top players struggle to play against and Shapo always plays better in slams especially when he is in form like right now
Zverev is not going to feed Nadal slow serves and every groundstroke near the service line as Khachanov did. Khachanov and Zverev are in completely different classes.
Khachanov is a tough opponent. Well played Rafa! Congrats for this crucial win!
The way Nadal came back in the 4th set gave a glimpse of his prime form especially the inside out forehands and running down the line backhand winners .. He is turning it on each round and the dream for 21 continues
I used to be a Nadal fan, but after his declarations and his opportunistic behavior, I lost all admiration. This was an easy match by any measure
Is not even highlighted 🥲
@@Brandespada What are you on about? Pls elaborate when you make such claims
This type of tennis is enough to win the tournament with no Djokovic. Just has to stay consistent and not get injured
The 1st two points. This is how Nadal should play against Novak not standing behind the baseline and sending short balls
@@adithyanaren519 exactly especially because Nadal is 36 and not as fast as he used to be
@@patcisz3474 35 and 36 in June but agree
@@patcisz3474 Yes. He played this way exactly vs Anderson in Abudhabi 2018 exhibition match. It was such a high quality match.
@@adithyanaren519 he needs to play him like he did in 2010 and 2013 us open finals with flat deep ground strokes, heavy deep slices, stop Djokovic from taking the ball early. Also when Djokovic tries to go after his forehand take it down the line.
Vintage aggressive Rafa!!! VAMOS!!
he is even celebrating some points like vintage Nadal !
Vamos, Gallego del coño!!!
That backhand pass to get the break in the 4th…. 👀
Those 2 points Rafa played to get that 1st break in the 4th were vintage Rafa. That entire 4th set.
35 years old and playing like he's 25. Age is just a number in tennis nowadays. Probably Nadal can keep playing at a high level past age 40.
No, he has three years left imo. Maybe more if he plays really selectively / cut out the hard court tournaments except slams as much as possible
If he was fully healthy for sure. Unfortunately I feel like all the injuries and surgeries will slow him down over the next few years. Hopefully I'm wrong though.
@@z1az285 yeah I agree. I’m a massive nadal fan, I’d estimate about 3 years left. I’d love to see him win maybe 2 more RG’s and 1 or 2 of another slam but that’s very very hard considering Medvedev and zverev are now about to start their slam winning
@@neb6208 I honestly believe he can win 1 more RG and if his body holds up 1 more USO with a decent draw. But it won't be easy, the others are hitting their peak and after next year his chances will plummet everywhere except at RG, but even there it's not guaranteed with thiem, Tsitsipas, Zverev, Alcaraz all in the mix and being even stronger. That being said I believe he still has a chance at Wimbledon this year, even next regardless of Djokovic or other favorites. But once again a decent draw is important. Too many tough opponents will make it impossible for him and frankly anyone for that matter.
z1az you fools still doubt this man?
I still believe in Nadal! It is possible in 2022! Loosing set 3 brought the best out of him in set four. An amazing performance indeed!
Possible but tough against Zverev and Medvedev.
@@codegeek-il5fm Medvedev in particular, Zverev is playing fine and Tsitsipas is below his standard level.
I think losing a set here was helpful to him. Last year he had all easy matches until the QF so when he got put under pressure for once he got caught a bit off guard...hopefully not the case this year after he won a match where he needed to up his level and did
@@Entername-md1ev I think you're right about that 👍🏽
I agree! I would love to see Nadal vs. Medvedev this tournament!
Wow, what’s crazy is I can see he is slower but dear god has his backhand improved!
How can u say is slower? He is all over the place hitting against younger hard hitters and still winning.
@@vidyasonavane9602 I think Willie probably meant slower than Rafa of old (which is true and what aging does.. he is after all human).. not slower than his opponent :)
@@vidyasonavane9602
AGING does not make you SLOWER.
In a pro tennis athlete, scar tissue is formed and it contains LESS collagen fiber than the original tissue - especially tendons and ligaments surrounding hips, lumbar, knees, ankles, calves, hamstrings.
Layers upon layers of stiff scar tissue.
He's only 35 years old.
Stiff tissue has no correlation to age.
Lack of mobility and stretching is the cause.
It is a common misunderstanding that many have. Unless you want to have an extensive discussion on estrogen and testosterone and their decline in the aging population and how it plays a role in mobility...
@@dannac_8888 um…yeah, he’s slower than he used to be.
@@willybeama1 He is a little slower but he got to balls that I didn't think he would be able to get. Remember when some Federer fans were saying many years ago: "Let's see what Nadal and Novak will be able to do when they are in their mid thirties".
🚀 That backhand pass @ 6:20 was money 🔥
Go Rafa Go!!! Let's go!!
6:25 This one is for the archives. Truly special.
I am a 100% Nadal fan but I salute Karen for such a nice match! The audience had a blast watching the exchanges.
I fully agree with you!
I am a 0% Nadal fan but agree with you about Karen. Well done
I remember watching Nadal's biggest wins over Djokovic on hard courts and one of the greatest qualities that made him overcome his opponent was his powerful backhand shots, and it seems that on this tournament his backhand is really good again. Hope it helps him surpass players like zverev and Medvedev too.
back in Nadal's prime he made more mistakes on the forehand than backhand, it wasn't many, but his backhand was rock solid
@@biggabenne Yes but if you look at the 2010 US Open against Djokovic for example, the backhands he was hitting were ridiculous. Way more powerful than you see from him on average.
No sport here
They should play with mask on
@@duskodemkovic174 Are you being serious?
Serving faster on both 1st and 2nd serves, receiving closer to the court, and still volleying sublimely, and he will chop you with forehand AND backhand
36 and coming off of a huge break from an injury and he still plays like this. The mans not human.
Still 35
@@jl3322 oh oops you’re right. Still wild though
35.. and recovering from Covid itself is a big thing.
It’s incredible. First two matches, Nadal was playing it safe, not really going for glory. When he knew he had a credible opponent, he went for everything and the kitchen sink. Amazing shot making and approach. Let’s just pray he plays this well next week aswell and takes home #21. VAMOS, RAFA!!!!!
Medvedev is lethal on this surface. Nadal will struggle with med if he manages to get past zverev first
I really hope he doesn't get this one. It would be like Federer's RG, Nadal deserves tho proof he's the best by winning Novak
@@juanpablomontes7896 Wawrinka didn't play Nadal to win his French Open.
@@juanpablomontes7896 Novak beat himself by not getting vaccinated and then trying to sneak his way into Australia by cooking up a fraudulent "positive" PCR test to get (with corrupt Craig Tiley's / Tennis Australia's help) an absurd "medical" exemption. :(
@@juanpablomontes7896 Er who cares if he wins, the stats will show Rafa won regardless
WOW. What a master. And always working to improve. Every part of his game getting into the right place for what may be an epic week 2.
i cant tell you guys how much i love Rafa, he gives me so much joy watching him fighting for every point no matter what
What a performance from Rafa!!!! VAMOS!
Thanks for the xtended highlights so quick. Great to see Nadal's aggressive intent standing close to Baseline for returns for 2nd serve... and hope that attitude and his good serving continues. Khachanov is very talented player and also seems a cool bloke , had great match with Nadal in 2018 USO, wish him the best for at least few more ATP title wins ( he had Paris master beating ND) and a slam major if not two hopefully in his career.
They both adapted well, Nadal just a bit better.
2:17 unique tennis moment!😀
6:28 the reason Rafa is a champion and the important point celebration. Running to the other part of the court and winning a backhand running, at age 35, recovering from injury and Covid.👏👏👏 7:23 the moment every tennis opponent regrets coming from Rafa. the smartness to arrive at 7:23👏👏👏 playing this against khachanov, who is a hard hitter himself. Great chances to cross 21 slam for Rafa.
7:48 proud, amusing reaction from coach moya says it all... celebrating Rafa craziness😃
Karen did not play badly at all, Nadal was just too good.
VAMOS RAFA!
Wow, Nadal is on fire. I'm rooting for him to take the AO!
Vamos Rafa you make the fans very happy and proud so satisfy watching you and inspiring people. Such a good heart and humble God bless you and more more trophies to win ❤️❤️❤️❤️
What a performance from my GOAT! He still has the drive and passion for more slams under his belt. VAMOS RAFA!!!
Big 3 is reason i watch tennis.. i was drastically depressed fed and djoko not playing.. nadal makes up for it.. now he plays aggressive play less defensive to consume more energy
Great game by both players.. Congrats for Rafa.. Hope your health still good until final to clench that 21st GS..
I know it's a dream this could be 21, but I think it's his best shot at ever hitting 2 Aussie opens. He still has a tough 4 matches, but it's not impossible.
Beautiful! This is why we love Rafa! He fights every point with everything he's got in his body mind heart & soul. A true warrior on the court and true sportsman in every way. 🙏V🙏A🙏M🙏O🙏S🙏!!!
Ustedes los Gallegos son una vaina!
Speak for yourself
@@richcampbell6808 Why do you love him? All the folks I see here & elsewhere who love him comment the same way. So, safe to say it's true what I speak. If you don't love him, I ain't talking about you obviously! 🙄
@@johnnyquest6115 I wrote my comment in English, so why did you reply in another language? Don't assume I am bilingual, I would never assume that about you cause I don't even know you. 🤨🤔
Deep respect to Kachanov! Vamos Nadal!
many thanks to this channel.love the highlight videos.
190 kph serves plus backhand crosscourt plus forehand down the line. When these three are working, Nadal has a shot.
Absolutely, those are 3 of the diagnostics of Peak Rafa: consistently high average first and second service speeds, no fear to weight and torque his front/left knee to smash crosscourt backhands, and great depth, power and angle off the forehand, especially inside-out and DTL forehands.
Amazing match!! Rafa playing at a very top level with Karen rising to the challenge, pushing Nadal to play some of the most beautiful winners. No doubt about that dangerous forehand at top spin and powerful serves. Go all the way Nadal!
Nadal is one of the greatest competitors in any sport ever
Thank youuuu #AustralianOpen for the Extended Highlights!!! Best! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Incredible power & precision tennis from Nadal!
I really hope he wins this Australian open
Thanks I tried to put this highlights quickly as possible.
Nadal looking vicious out there.
I'd have loved to see Nadal/Djo take each other on in this years AO.
Hopefully they go at it in FO.
May the best winner of AO win.
6:26 - How often do you get that reaction from Nadal. He was hyped up!
One step closer for Rafa, congrats for the win. KK is a tough opponent!
What i really like is Nadals game is always entertaining and his game as it’s own style. Many other players have just mweh the same game style. Same with djoko and fed all three have their unique game style 😍
Vamos Rafa!!!!!!!!!!
Nadal ,is so streetwise , never give his opponent anything , mentally so strong , and willing to play short or long match.
What is the most striking about Nadal is the fact that he's a natural born righty. His two handed backhand is a wonder, therefore. Why not be ambidextrous, instead? Had he been as such on court, he could be the real 🐐 throughout the entire history of tennis.
The serve returns are very close to the nets so need some improvements..the first serve has improved a lot ..lot of pop & placement is good
Vamos Rafa!! Always amazing to see him perform at a high level! Bless the tennis gods.
VAMOS, RAFA!! I want to see you in the finals against Medvedev.
He is playing like a number one indeed
Actually he is not, because number one is banned from playing tennis this year it seems
It's nice to see some longer highlights, but there were some amazing inside out forehands from Rafa in the 4th that they didn't include which just doesn't make sense.
This is amazing
If only it was in 4K 120fps, it'd be perfect
Rất thích lối đánh của Nadal ❤️
My God, how proud I am that Rafa is from my country and how sad it will be when he retires😭 Incredible.
Keep proud, learn his values and enjoy his videos

VAMOS RAFA 👏👏👏
He’s amazing vamos King 🙌🏼💪🏼👊🏼
So far so good for Rafa. Let’s see how he does against the top players in the next few rounds.
Yeah like rafa hasnt played against top opposition before lol
If Nadal play like this the rest of the tournament that's his #21 Grandslam for sure..
He ain't beating Zverev and Medvedev. Maybe 1 but not both.
Ça fait plaisir de voir Rafa à ce niveau !! 💪
Respect for Khachanov he has a great game! Congrats for Nadal.
Wow, Nadal looks scary good - his backhands and serves look especially lethal
Outstanding fight from the great man! He showed signs of the monster he was! Well and truly on collision course with Meddy for fight night!
That was fun to watch
Looks like Nadal should get a clean move into the quarters against zverev or Shap. Hope he makes an upset and gets rid of his Aussie curse to move to the semis and hopefully finals.
Nadal may get by Shapo but I don't see Nadal getting by Zverev (not at his current level, and Zverev is not even a favorite of mine).
It looks like the Mannarino-Karatsev will be 4-5 hours. Excellent match.
Karatsev isn't a joke.
@@pharmdpottery Karatsev is a joy to watch. Just wondering how much he has in the tank. Mannarino is a tricky out
Depends whether zverev breaks down
Contrary to the claim of many who said it would not happen, a 30 plus year old Nadal is not only still playing tennis, but performing quite well.
"Quite well" lol. Rafa's won 6 GS after the age of 30!
@@mainemceachern1521 If you think about that...I mean, for me is anbilibibol, you know. This guy play tennis against Müller-Weiss since 2005, and these motherf#cker is intense. You feel like your feet is breaking, in fact, that's what happens many times. Imagine to put your feet in a shoe with broken glass, nails and stones inside. Now you try to play tennis vs Djokovic, in a GS semifinal. And be able to win one set, and having ball to the fifth.
Imho, if the people knew the real condition of his feet along his entire career...nobody would talk about goats and weird things.
@@aha3885 it is broken now, and it can't be fixed. The navicular bone, I mean
@@dabadabado7954 yeah, that thing usually breaks. First time, 2004. But he has never been so clear about his feet problem until this week. It was uncle's Toni mental regime, never complains, never wasting time thinking about unsolvable problems. It certainly worked. But imho, Rafa is a little bit disgusted with all the drama around Nole and his vax issues. And the man probably wants to say..."you know what? I've playing with my fuckin' broken left foot since I was 17 years old, and I don't hear anyone wondering what would happen if Nadal wasn't a lame." Or something like that.

That first set from Nadal was something else. The movement and shots were clinical. The potential zverev match will be interesting
i cry each time i think of how much nadal has struggled and continued to not give up.

Nadal seems to forget how to play on hardcourts when Djokovic is on the other side of the net. He never does any of these aggressive tactics.
It’s a mental block he fears Novak on hard courts
Where's Djokovic?
