"Tough as a 2 dollar steak" has me rolling 🤣
Only Mr. Koenig!
Love that guy
Always wondering the name of the commentator. The one who said big top player.. big top place!
Same 😂😂 where was he going with that 😂😂
Rafa’s superior ability to hyper-focus and his instinct to kill was completely on display at the first set tiebreaker.. His determination to Never, ever give up is just too powerful 💪
He maintained intensity throughout which is tough to do against a player like Mannerino.
No superas Shapovalov
Well Mannarino wasn't playing his best, IMO. Esp in the 3rd set. Lots of force errors and even Nadal looked a bit sloppy towards the end. I think Shapo will be a different animal so to be speak. We'll see.
@@buzzfunk He was clutching his stomach a few times and I wondered if he had an injury.
One of the best tiebreaks I've seen and one of the better first sets I've seen, impressive from mannarino and the pass to go up 6-4 in the breaker from Rafa is one of the shots of the tournament. crazy to watch live

First set and tiebreaker: tennis from another galaxy
Loved Rafa’s Celebration after the tiebreak. He is the most passionate and dedicated guy in the court!
double barrel fist pumps
His reaction after winning the set was also unique. I liked his reaction after winning RG 2020.
tons of steroids too
I am a die hard Rafa fan but man Mannarino put up a great fight in that opening set. That was TENNIS!!!
Lies
👍great job playing for 4/12 hours defeating karatsev... not a easy player to defeat.
So sad he's injured after the first set. It would have been a treat to watch.

That celebration at the end of the first set is so vintage Rafa it brings an unavoidable smile to your face. So nice to see him feeling the passion like that again. You can tell he's in it to win it big time this tournament.
💁🏽♂️ OMG that 1st set tiebreaker
was NEXT LEVEL❕EPIC❕
Well done Rafa❕👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
#Vamos 💪🏼
But well done Mannarino, too. That was a tough fight v Rafa.
What yo black as doing watching this?
@@Mean.Devil77787 Shut up❕
God, nobody enjoys those LOL
@@Forever20young What is somebody doing questioning why a black person is watching tennis? TF is that ish? Watch all you damned want!
Mannarino has nothing to be ashamed of; he put on a valiant effort. He has had a great AO tournament run. Unfortunately, he met up with Nadal in the fourth round. People are still doubting Nadal but he isn't listening to those people. Instead, he is feeling the fight and passion that is still there. That is the mark of a true champion. I don't know if he can win it but he has certainly reignited a flame inside of himself and of his fans. Nadal Is My Champion!

AMAZING match from Mannarino. Loved to see such a run from him, especially with his crazy setup! Much love to Rafa. VAMOS to the finals!
that first set tie-break was the best of 2022 so far!
I watched the game and, in my opinion, the first set was one of the most evenly-matched of history. It seemed that Nadal was playing against Roger or Novak. Amazing level from both players.
Rafa rolling back all those years. I remember seeing him in 2005. Congrats for the win, see you in the finals. Vamos Rafa!
manirino played fantastic tie break, but nadal played good too .
Greatest tie break in recent times! Great 1st set!
best tiebreak i've seen in a long time 🙏
Rafa!! All the best in this tournament! I'm following your career since 2010 and named my second child: Rafael 'cause I admire your determination!!
That first set tiebreaker might be the very best tiebreaker I’ve ever seen.
Maybe I’m being overly optimistic, but I still think Nadal has another level of play he can reach in this tournament. I hope we’ll get to see that on display against Shapovalov, think it’ll be a good match whichever way it goes.
Yeah, he's definitely not at 100%. Not saying he will reach it now, but I also think he has at least another level left.
@@TinnieTa21 Nadal played Better Against Khachanov but at 35 years old he won't be able to raise his level with every match. The same thing happened to Federer after age 35.
I think Nadal doesn't need to be 100% to beat the others. The big three are in another level.
@@jeffreykaufmann2867 I understand that, but I still feel like he has another level to go in him and that this isn't his peak. In other words, he'll probably get better after a few tournaments in. It's still really early in the tour.
I think his level now is good enough to beat Shapovalov, Berrettini and Monfils. Assuming it will be Medvedev on the other side, that would be a different story
Nadal remains especially tough under pressure. You wonder how he generates the desire to compete so intensely after all these years.
He wants a 21st Slam. With Novak and Zverev out he'll be super motivated
@@jeffreykaufmann2867 i as a fan hope he would win all but still has shapovalov, tsitsipas and medvedev!
@@marceloovg1873Nadal and his fans would rather face Shapovalov to Zverev. Shapo will make at least 10 double faults. His first serve percentage was 63%.today. not good enough to beat Nadal.Nadal won't have to face Tsitsipas and Medvedev, just one of them. Maybe Fritz wil best Tsitsipas.
@@jeffreykaufmann2867 His will power is extraordinary. However, father time is catching up to him. Some of the younger players might be too tough for him now, like Sinner, Tsitsipas or Medvedev. We will see.
@@jeffreykaufmann2867 Sasha was not a threat though, but Dennis appears lethal now with confidence! He really decimated Sasha like Rafa would.
what a high level of tiebreak. Rafa looked helpless in first 3 points but after that the old Rafa was reborn. Adrian lost the break and his tennis soul. That's what we all love about Rafa, namely fighting spirit, never give up. Every time he lost a point, a game or a match, it was his body that failed him, not his spirit
I think Rafa mindset can be summed up in his won words after the fourth set in Wim 2008 final when he told Uncle Toni that " Maybe Federer will win the title but I will not lose it" Goosebumps!!!!
That set point in the first set was unbelievable. Don't know if it was heading out since Mannarino volleyed it, but given Rafa's ability to generate topspin, probably best to try to volley it. His mistake probably was trying to redirect that volley elsewhere.
Oooooooooooooo
Oh really , did t know Rafa shot may have been out..why did he go back right to Rafa he had the whole court open..men from Boys I guess ..the champions always have that extra level..I do see shape’s form taking Rafa out but who knows anymore lol
That last swinging volley of Rafa's made me gasp. Neither me nor Mannarino were expecting him to clobber tf the ball out of the air
I don't think he tried to direct that ball at all. He has zero time to react it's even amazing he volleyed that ball
Why did Mannarino hit it right back to Nadal when the whole other side was open? Big mistake and cost him the set.
Mannarino is such a lowkey and underrated player. If the majority of viewers knew how low he strings his racket they would get a better sense of what a sweet ball striker he is. And wow we are so blessed to see a competitor such as Nadal. One of the most exciting tiebreaks ever!
im at 17kg, i want try 13-14 like him
THAT FIRST SET WAS JUST WOW! Seemed like Rafa was playing Djokovic or Federer, Mannarino really put up a fight!
The first set was epic. Finals-like quality.
Rafa's ability to control the match is beyond imagination of any player including Novak. His performance today demonstrated just that. well done Rafa.
Even though he ran out of gas after the first set or due to injury, Mannarino is one hell of a player. Of course, part of it has to do with the way Rafa plays. He can make anyone work extra hard. I like his chances against Shapovalov than Zverev, but it will depend on his consistency. Vamos, Nadal. 3 more matches to go.
Losing that 1st set tiebreaker took everything out of Mannarino. You knew he was toast when he lost it
That first set tiebreaker was amazing. I had a feeling Rafa could just get through it he’ll be good the rest of the match. It turns out that was the case. With that said I was still impressed by Mannarino. He is a very skilled player and he should be winning more matches.
Mannarrino deserved at least one set
At least he got a sponsor now. He would have taken the first set, had he not gave the ball towards Rafa rather than other side while being at the net. His strategy to pull Rafa in was great.
beautiful points from each player. excellent match.
Incredible tie-breaker. The level of tennis IQ displayed by Mandarin is out of this world.
Let’s not forget Mannarino’s strings are strung at a crazy 25 lb tension. His timing is amazing!
The confidence and level of play will be elevated as he in the quarters now:)
Superb first set lasting 81 minutes. Neither served that well but both stepped it up in the 30-minute tie-break! Rafa just served better in the last two sets. Great battle of the left-handers. Looks like another battle of left-handers coming up in the Quarterfinals: Nadal v Shapovalov…
28 minute breaker
Overall I think nadal served pretty good but tiebreak not his best
What a tie break !!! Has to be up there with a few epic ones in the last couple of decades !
I am huge Rafa fan but I absolutely felt for Adrian over there ! He literally gave his everything...
gotta feel for mannarino!!! I just love his composure, his fighting spirit and no extravagance anywhere, just pure TENNIS!!
Hats off to Mannarino for putting a great show for us, one hell of a great player
Hats off to both of course, but especially Mannarino, wasn't expecting that level from him. Cool as a cucumber, and caused some serious concern to Rafa.
That tiebreaker was insane
8:00 cute detail, Mannarino touching the ball boy's cap lol
Absolutely Amazing !!!!! 🤩
Rafa refuses to die. His mental tenacity reminds me of Jimmy Connors from years ago, although Rafa is a better player whose physical stamina is just as remarkable as his mental strength. He is an inspiration to watch, especially understanding how many injuries he has suffered and yet does not give up the fight. When I need motivation to endure, I sometimes watch a few sets of Rafa playing one of his great matches without being able to feel his left foot due to injections to deaden the nerves.
Un gran jugador, muy disciplinado, gran juego ,tal vez se mida en la final al ruso Mendelep
Rafa G.O.A.T 🔥🔥
He is goat of goats brother.
And a heavy PEDs program makes it all possible!
@@goggleboy2464 ya same like djokovid who took some magic drugs in 2010.
how a sudden loser until 2010 started winning in 2011.
@@pintoacr3800 It's possible you are right but djokovic doesn't have thick water bloated looking legs like Rafa.

5:08 best celebration ever
Sois increíbles os dais la mano entre vosotros y al juez de silla le chocais con el puño. Menuda buena gente
Mannarino is a very underrared player, I'm happy that for once, people recognized his level.
When the counter puncher meets the master counter puncher.
1st set won tiebreak was the most important for the rest.
Best tie-breaker I've ever seen.
Rafa is on a high. Bet he's feeling happier after a 2021 slump. His passion is oozing through the screen. Vamos Rafa!
Mannarino's play is beautiful
Vamos Rafa!!
Rafas playing exceptional tennis
First set he wasn’t playing great but after winning that tiebreak he started playing much better. His serve was pretty good I think
@@funnyduck4568 I can't remember ever seeing Rafa serve 16 aces in a match. He might've had around that in 1-2 long Wimbledon matches, 2018 is coming to mind ...
One of the greatest tiebreaks ever!!
Increíble lo que juega Nadal, grande! beautiful tennis!
Que tive break foi esse!!!!
look nadal's backhand shot at the tiebreak so hard and sharp
The first set was honestly insane. Best set of the match and one of the best in the tournament by far. Right on Rafa
Need to cut down on those replays. Thanks for the upload
What a great first set. That was tennis at it's finest.
Esse é o Rafa Nadal! Sensacional!!!👏🏼
I thought the match between Nadal and Khanavov the 3rd round was historic then came this first set tie break. Was going to go take a bath since first set was gonna end in few secs but to my surprise, it kept going & going & going & going & it went for 38 mins. Best thing we've seen for years. And the celebration dance when NADAL finally got it was chef's kiss..
5:11 Rafa reloading his fists. :D :D
In seventh heaven... anybody knows that commentator’s name?
a Lot of people can hit an amazing forehand, a great backhand down the line, one fine drop shot, or serve an ace at a key moment. But only very few can do that consistently.
It is not about your highlights, but consistency and that you can't see on video.
Like Antoine de Saint'Exupery (The Little Prince) said: "what is essential is invisible to the eye"
Jesus christ both of them smashed it
That 1st set tiebreaker decided the match
When I say that why Rafa "my goat" is because tie breaks like this one... It's beyond numbers and scores, it's almost metaphysical 😂
He is not that physically strong as he used to be but he has such a big brain that it seals the deal
Kudos to both players, the tiebreak was really entertaining to watch... I like the passion in Nadal's game.
Rafael está de vuelta bravo campeón desde Venezuela
I had to join nailbiters anonymous after watching that tiebreaker
What à tiebreak😱😱😱😱
#vamosRafa
Que bien manejo Mannarino el top spin endemoniado de Nadal. Obviamente perder un tie break así de peleado, desmorona a cualquiera, mas aun si estas jugando contra uno de los mejores jugadores de la historia
Goat 🔥🔥
Wow 🤩
"He's as tough as a two dollar steak" - Rob Koenig has been working on some new material.
sangat kuat tenaga Nadal dan larinya kemana saja bola masih bisa dapat.
This first set in next level tennis. Treat to watch Rafa. Absolute beauty
You are el mejor..........
Excellent match from Nadal, but Mannarino was no slouch either! Excellent players! 🙌
WOW....Vamos Rafa.....Bravisimo, mataor,OLE,OLE,OLE.Te has ganao rabo y orejas,BRAVO,RAFA....Que faena,por dios...!!!
Watching this now and the announcer says capacity is 50% which should allow for spacing of spectators. They show the crowd and the sideline chairs are mostly empty yet the fans are packed in like sardines on the end lines. What genius came up with this seating chart.
That first set was bonkers. Heck of an endurance match from Nadal.
losing that 1st set like that completely zaps your energy.. I understand.
He was injured I think
Jugar contra Rafa es una motivación muy grande , pero a la vez a veces resulta muy frustrante ....grande Rafa , la alegría del tenis .
Rafa is like diesel big truck 🛻 on the road.just a monster
Que bien que juega mandarino 🍊
The most iconic passing shot of Nadal!! Best tie. break of this tournament!
Nice tennis Rafa 👍👍🥰🥰
The rare two lefty match. Im a lefty as well and I think alot of people dont realize that playing a lefty is weird for us also! Everything bounces, hooks, etc. the opposite way compared to usual especially the serve. Unusual to watch Rafa be so cautious but good ploy, Mannarino is tricky.
Mannarino has got to be kicking himself for not taking that first set. Especially in the tie break. Can't say he didn't have his chances.... Just don't think he had enough fuel in the tank to finish out the match even if he did.
AS Tough as a 2 dollar steak. Cracked me up!🤣
And big top celebration at 1:21. Adrian did a trick shot at 3:23. Great job saving so many set points and even getting set points against Rafa, after taking to a tie break, a 24 min tie break👍👍. This should have been a piece of cake for Rafa though. But he was nice enough to ask Adrian if he is ok at the net after winning the match.
Does anyone feel like there’s been a ton of tie breakers this AO?
What’s the song they play between points?
This year is horrible , for the lack of tv coverage in America for Aus open MAJOR tournament !
Its getting telecasted in ESPN !
@@anveshm5397 Yes, replays after match is over. And limited live coverage.
You can thank Australia for that
5:14 I love ur intensity Rafa. The red hot Spanish fire that burns only inside the raging bull that never can be extinguished.
When you see the level of Mannarino in the first set before he got injured, you realize how INSANE the longevity and consistency of the BIG THREE are. Mannarino's best ranking was 22nd in the world 4 years ago...
