      2 questions big D, how do I use true 8 gauge on sub terminals that won't fit that big of wire especially if I try and wire a 4dvc to run 2 ohms no way it's going to all fit, so I cut some out to make it fit? Is there a solution...
      2nd, when ur running the amps, do you set everything to max, or like how do you tune them for the dyno run?

      Ty Derrick, I enjoyed this test. People seem to have forgotten that 1000 watts of clean power is still a butt load of power. Almost all the amps used in your old school spl challenge were very clean a/b power. Many of them put out over 140db with the right setup. More than enough power for daily driving. $120? I'll take it... I paid $800 for my Zeus VIII back in 1992 (1500 today). No complaints here...

    love the dummy math reference on the fuses.. it's always drove me a little nuts how uneducated 99.9% of everyone with amps in their vehicles are.. IF ONLY people could just educate their self on the basics before you proceed... idk whats worse than people tellin u they got a 4,000 watt system and its that amp lol.. like i said, this is like 99% of people with aftermarket audio.. so a big thanks for shedding light on simple V x A = W.. and u even added amp efficiency with it which is also vital to know.. just basic 101.. then if only people could just understand a little bit about voicecoil heat or electromagnets or clipping notes or adjusting amps or PROPERLY designing a 'to spec' enclosure whether its ported or any order bandpass to properly let your speaker perform at its best.. I've had an amp die on me and replace it temporarily from 2k to 50w with a tiny amp just as a bandaid of bass while I replaced the 2k.. and my 50watts of "proper" bass is louder than idiots with amps like this that think they have 4k watts then put it in some random prefab box they got on ebay lol.. knowledge is power.. or in 99% of peoples cases.. being presumptuous is futile.. if your hobbies don't make you curious, you need new hobbies that do people.. dont buy subs because your friend did....

    • @vincentrobinette1507
      @vincentrobinette1507 Před 4 lety

      You make a good point. It's simple math, IF you're allowed to look at the unit, before you buy. Sometimes, you have to buy sight unseen, which may not allow you a view angle, that would allow you to see the fuses. I don't think that's an accident, if the illustration on the box or the advertisement doesn't show the fuses. You'll notice, when they want to show you the connections, they will "zoom in" on the terminals, and not show the whole rear panel.

    The first DVC sub I ever experienced(and also the first time I ever heard the term "dual voice coil" and thought it meant dual cone or something lol) was a Quantum Audio 12" sub my friend had in his room. He ran it on a 8 channel (3500w if I remember correctly) amp that our school used for events - along with many many other speakers, sub bridged on 4 channels, other speakers bridged on the other 4 channels. We had the police called on us and we couldn't hear them pulling up or knocking on the door, we only knew someone was there when we saw an arm reaching in through a window to pull open the curtain. That's a good memory

I pointed out the fusing wouldn't reach the claimed rms and he stated "these are designed to be Ultra Efficient." Another rep told me in reality all that info was irrelevant. Hey, did you notice the fan has no "real" venting for it? Sure it had those tiny little vents on the back but no real air movement.

    • @RS8XB
      @RS8XB Před 5 lety

      @calee4nyaboy those vents are worthless, just like the power of this amp. air flow isn't created in a chamber like this with no directed air flow.

    • @RS8XB
      @RS8XB Před 5 lety

      @calee4nyaboy clearly you don't know much about air movement or fan cooling or the simple fact that the fan would not be pressed against a wall inside the house but instead set in such a way that air moves on both sides of the fan. input and output. the fan almost rests directly on the backplate. also for best movement, you would position a fan at a window for best air movement. I have a 10.7kw sound system. That's rms by the way. Not imaginary power, I had to develop cooling methods for my amps and my engine bay along with multiple batteries.
      In any case this amp is garbage and it sounds like your angered that I spoke out about it.

    I hope those days are over, where manufacturers claim blatantly embellished ratings on amplifiers. If I design an amplifier, I apply a continuous sine wave to a pure resistance, and quote the RMS power, without clipping. If it's an automotive amplifier, I usually quote it, supplying it with exactly 12 volts, because any large amplifier is going to create voltage drop on its power supply, no matter how "beefy" it is, unless it's a large precision regulated bench supply, with short thick power cables between it and the amplifier, or, it has remote feedback leads that can connect straight to the power lugs on the amplifier, negating the resistance of the supply cables. If you run one of my amplifiers on 13.8 or 14.4 volts, you will get a higher output reading, than quoted in the specifications.

      @TheMatsushitaMan Před 4 lety +3

      I'd rate amps to ensure a minimum X watts per channel, across 20-20,000hz, all channels driven, into X ohms, with no more than 0.1% THD.

    • @vincentrobinette1507
      @vincentrobinette1507 Před 4 lety

      @@TheMatsushitaMan I agree, if it's a multi-channel amplifier. The one shown in this video is a "monoblock" monaural amplifier. If you're rating a multi-channel amplifier, would you run all channels at rated impedance, or just one? I would be tempted to run both channels at the same time, to fully load the power supply. If you run just one at a time, you will inevitably get a little more power, just because the power supply wouldn't "sag" quite as much.

      These manufacturers are competing in a market loaded with ignorant customers. So they have to do what they have to do for their share of trade. What they have to do is slap big numbers on the side of their equipment to compete in a crowded field. Most of the time it's just to impress your stoned buddy in the driveway anyways. Dumb question...why do some amps come with a bass knob? Can't you just control the sub output through the head unit?

    • @dustinerickson1253
      @dustinerickson1253 Před 4 lety

      Having internal subwoofer adjustments on the head unit is great. And is all you really need for a good clean system. Bass knobs really start coming in handy when you have either excessive lows and want them up and down at the touch of a dial or if you're utilizing a factory radio and cannot control them otherwise.. it's just a faster secondary volume option
