Board said it was dead because the bms needed a recalibration. Connecting to the charger and charging to full accomplishes this.

My pint does the same exact thing on every charge, need to unplug and plug again to make the board and the app realize it is actually full charged.
This is the exact reason I bought on one wheel GT used with accessories and almost no miles on it for $1,400 with shipping and it was a steal and I know the board works. I can't imagine spending $2,300 in getting a dead board only to have to send it back and wait two more months fuck all that

I agree. They made it like an updated pint and not an upgraded xr and the pint was just a cheap version of the one wheel. I want a beastly xr but a big pint that glitches over nothing

@@ThatsGinterEV Not really FedEx's fault: FM has a habit of trying to circumvent shipping regulations for lithium batteries. FedEx caught them.
I have heard they usually ship Li batteries with a low charge for safety. Glad you got it turned around quickly.

Glad to spread some positive vibes! Being an early adopter can suck, but I feel that they are doing what they can to get the bad boards straightened out as fast as they can.
You should look at up Louis Rossman on CZcams his most recent videos talks about why you probably shouldn't do business with future motion. They own the rights to the board, not you and it's a right to repair battle currently where they are said to be worse than Apple in this regard. Also major issues with a glitch that will send you to the pavement without warning. I too was going to buy and have since changed mind. If you do get, upgrade your health insurance and possibly up your life insurance. Cheers.
There's really no excuses for FM to have such a high end priced product with any product failures whatsoever. Crappy chinese EUC's seem to have a more successful consistency in lifespan than these and that sucks. Once FM gets some quality control that is a little more clear, I'll buy one. Till then going to rock the old OW XR and Pint. Thing keeping me from the Pint X is the overheating when fast charging. May not sound like a big deal but to me thats a deal breaker. The fact multiple youtubers have had issues means many others likely have had issues as well.
yea, it sucks...and that's also why I'm holding onto my XR & Pint - just in case. I didn't know about the overheating issues on the Pint X, thanks for mentioning it. I'm definitely concerned about it since I live in Phoenix.
It's because fm is more interested in locking out their boards than making innovations.

I bet you'd cancel your order if you did a bit more research about their glitch that will send you face first to the pavement and how they are among the worst now when it comes to right to repair. If you buy in to this company, future motion ows you and the board you paid for in full. Bail bruh, bail, we are in a recession with massive inflation, save your $$.

Future motion is trying to prevent people from modifying the battery, so that is why there may be some error when charging your onewheel. The program may indicate that the battery may have been swapped. The system may have reset when you turned it off.
Well that's a reason to run out and buy this product, What's not to like about this s**t...
@@stclairstclair what's funny is the people that are near broke, no health insurance, and still buy this sht from a sht company that grew way too fast and wants total control of every aspect. What's worse is the safety aspect where they can just ghost or shut down sending you into a near death experience and serious injury thru no fault of your own...or so I've been told.
Yes for the sole purpose in making more money not to keep you safe. The battery will not last forever imagine in 40 years down the road and this company sells out or goes downhill you are $2,000 board then becomes obsolete. I do not buy any products that go against the right to repair
By "modifying their battery" do you mean replacing their battery when it wears out? Or buying the battery direct from the manufacturer rather than through Future Motions repair program?
It's not difficult to replace a battery. Even Apple let's users DIY now. Though, an iPhone is way harder than an electric one wheel device.

I got my GT last week and it was DOA! Even after putting it on the charger it would not power on what so ever. It’s on its way back to FM right now. Super frustrating…
My board had a tone of issues, just shipped it off, it was on 6070 for firmware, im gonna be chapped if that was it cause i could still get it to turn on sometimes

How many charges do you think the GT will take before you have to send it back to them as they are the only ones who can replace the battery now. Also in the paperwork did you have any pricing on how much they will be charging when they do this yet alone the shipping.
About $600 plus shipping is what I've gathered. Shipping can vary greatly from $80 to $430 dollars depending on where you live.
Great video, still waiting on my GT, date got pushed back quite a few times. I have 4/12 date as of now, really hoping it works and there are no issues like a lot of customers are having.
I'd strongly suggest doing some more research on future motion. Lewis Rossman, CZcams is who I would recommend to start. Good luck.
You can cancel your order prior to receiving your board, at least I was told.

Why can't they make a software update through the app? Or through a USB port?
They have a firmware update that is now avail via the phone app which seems to have fixed the power issues...but it doesn't fix everything. And of course you can't update if you can't even turn your board on...

Hey Crock180! I'm in North Phoenix...this is a short wash trail that runs on the South side along Greenway Rd, specifically between 7th ave & 7th st. It's not much, but it's closest to me for a quick Sunset ride.

So I noticed if I press the power button a certain way it worked like 6 times in a row but if I just randomly press it I’ll have problems. This was the first day with it and I had off work but it was a rainy day. 😕 what’s your thoughts on it so far and do you thin a firmware update would fix the power on issues?
@@slothvibes2029 That sounds exactly how my board was when I first got it. The next day it got worse, which is why I sent it back.
Is the treaded tire just as wobbly as the smooth tire for the GT? It's significantly more wobbly than the XR stock tire. Even at low psi
I've heard that some slicks were "out of round" tires for some. My treaded seems fine though. Also, both slick and treaded GT tires have more curve compared to the stock XR's Vega tire, so it can take a little bit of getting used to, but once you do, it's more fun to ride since it carves easier.
On later versions of the XR and probably the GT when you unplugged the battery and then pugged it back in or replaced it, the battery meter on the app isn't correct until you plug it into the charger and it recalibrates.

Thx! I hope they got it figured out. It sounded like they paused shipping for a bit, so maybe they're double checking everything before hand now. Firmware 6071 seems to have fixed the power/charging issues.

Not sure on the cold temperature theory. Before I sent it back, I did try heating up the battery and controller areas with a heat gun, and even left it in the car for a few hours in the Sun and still had issues turning it on. But yea, seems to be all good now!
Mine was 6069, but DOA. It would partially boot up, but not engage. Then would keep disconnecting and reconnecting to the app, so don’t think I would have been able to do an update. Sent mine back yesterday.

I own a pint. After a full charge, when I turn the board on it registers the prior battery status UNTIL I plug the charger in while the board is on, then I unplug the charger from the board. The board then shuts off, and when powered back up is at full charge. It’s a bug I suppose, but one I can work around.
Not a bug, I guess you don't know but you can no longer use different companies batteries. They built the new gt to only except their own batteries through proprietary ciruits.
That was an unintentional result of a very intentional change to own all the rights to repair your product and break your board should you try and change the battery yourself. They worked fine before they made those changes, except for the safety issues which have always been a problem.

Ugh, sorry to hear that. I sent it to them via a prepaid FedEx shipping label on a Saturday. They didn’t receive it until Thursday. They emailed me that day saying they received it and shipped it out that night. I got it back the next Monday. So 9ish days… from Phoenix Arizona.

I still think it's expensive, but I got it with the bundle, and it is a pretty well made, heavy duty aluminum stand. Kinda wish they offered in other metallic anodized colors, then it might be worth the price lol.

I still haven't done a full battery drain yet, but according to each of my estimates, definitely between the 20-30 mile range they advertise. My last run was 7.6 miles some trail, and used just 32% battery. I weigh around 140, but also was running it at a low 9 PSI...and I was full throttling it on the straights.
Sweet! Just got mine in today with the 6070 firmware and it's doing great so far only got a couple miles on it lol
🌕 Lipo batteries are not to be stored at full charge. Keep that in mind if you are not planning on riding for awhile. That’s one reason everyone is finding their new GT out of the box not fully charged.. it’s about longevity...
Just an FYI OW GT uses NMC batteries, not Li-Po. Different chemistries.
Some sort of an apology and a charged board would be nice tho..
They can't send out boards with to much charge. Then when if it goes in a plane it can be bad.

The tire profile is great for carving on streets. Much better then the stock Vega on the XR IMO.

Just bought a GT Friday. Did 4 miles on it the next day and now intermittent one side of the foot sensor shows like my foot is on it. Atleast it didn’t take off on me when I caught it. I’m on Cassiopeia - 6109 but assuming it’s a sensor issue. Turned off n turned back on later n was fine but turned on the simple stop for now to be safe. Thought they were fixed but apparently not
That sucks. Yea, I just had a friend get a full GT replacement, and the new one has the ghosting issue still. You could see the blue light indicator stay lit even after he removed his foot. I really think they need to redesign and replace that front footpad. Use a more reliable pressure sensor that needs like 50lbs of weight detection in 3 places to be absolutely sure someone is on/off the board. Oh, and send it out as a replacement to all current GT owners. While I've had my issues - my sensor pad still hasn't ghosted on me, but I've heard of people who said they never had a ghost 100s of miles into riding...then it happens. =( I like to stay optimistic, but I'm also a realist...
@@ThatsGinterEV well, after turning it back on later that day it was fine. Not sure why it did that. But was left front side staying blue as if my heel was still on it. Not sure how they would do a weighted part. But read if it’s moving 1mph or faster it will keep going if one sensor alone is reading. I dunno. Issuing simple stop for now so I don’t have a run away bored. It’s poop

Great video…good info! My GT showed up at 30% battery. Everything seemed to work fine out of the box. Plugged it in to charge it to 100%…When it hit 100 and i unplugged and powered on to go on my maiden ride the lightbar flashed white, flashed red and then shut off. BRICKED. How long did FM take to get back to you about return and repair. It's been a day and a half now. Maybe i should just return for refund? Thoughts?
Ugh, that sucks. I got a pretty fast response, but I was one of the first few ppl to get their boards so maybe I got my ticket in before the flood. I have a feeling they have their hands full with the first batch that went out with issues. Their CEO/Founder just posted a video saying that they were making it a priority to ship out replacement boards and/or bad sensors that ghosted. If you decided it's not worth it, they are issuing refunds too. Just keep in mind if you re-order it will be a longer wait.

They lied to you. The firmware should ALWAYS work, this means it's first tested and then released. Programmers ( good programmers ) would never allow a product released with such a basic programing to be flawed. if Thry didn't lie then they are 100% incompetent. I've been riding onewheel since v1, they have not learned anything since then
They ship it out with issues with the hopes of you powering it on and riding it, therefore you can't RETURN IT. They aren't stupid lol

Yeah, I think so... 3rd time was a charm for me and the thing has been a tank without issues. for 5ish months now (over 1000 miles and lots of trail abuse). I usually keep my ear to the ground in various clubs/groups for other GT issues, and the early adopter chatter has chilled, so I think Future Motion got their ducks in a row now. But just in case, I'd still order straight from onewheel.com though. 🤙🏼

How fast did you get it to go ?
I've only hit 20mph on it. The pushback isn't bad (kicks in at 19.5 mph), but it's enough to discourage you from going faster, and in order to push through it, you really have to put some weight on the front and it goes past my comfort zone lol.
@@ThatsGinterEV Just canceled my GT order. To me it’s not worth the risk of getting stuck with a 30LBS $2000+ brick when FM goes out of business, which with the business model they’ve chosen they most certainly will.
Mine will be back Friday. The firmware update also. Cost me 30 bucks to repackage and ship because my board's packaging was destroyed by my kid. Didn't care originally because I'd assume for 2500k I'm getting a working product, but accidents happen.

Ghosting is definitely more dangerous of a problem, but I think it's less prolific than the power issues they are having right now. Basically, less of a chance to get a board that ghosts...but still good to be cautious when first using the board.
Look up Lewis Rossmann on YT before you decide. Not a company I would recommend doing business with.

Did you pay for return shipping ?
Negative. They emailed me a pre-paid FedEx label. The only issue I had was I had to make sure to drop it off at a FedEx location that would take packages with lithium batteries.

From all the sources I'm hearing, there is a Firmware issue - that update fixes the power on/charging issues. The other is ghosting (board takes off when nobody is on it), and that appears to be a foot pad sensor issue. For me, I sent mine back and they updated the firmware and it's good now. For ghosting issue, I've heard others have been sent replacement front foot pads.
Why would life time be reset to zero? When I take my car to the dealership, they don't reset my odometer. That doesn't seem right.
So how much did you pay? coz damn they didn't tell you anything, no recharge, no stickers, no analysis, just a print out of your email. How much did you pay as I would have to pay for shipping if I want to sort my XR for it's afterlife.
Shipping costs were covered. They sent me a pre-paid label to print and slap on the box. The board was actually charged (I mention it later in the video), others said that the BMS had to re-calibrate? But yea, it was charged. They said they updated the firmware in an email response, but that's it. Most of us "assume" power issues are related to bad firmware, but yes, more communication on the issues with first run batch would be nice for us early adopters. Open and honest communication is better than little to none.

What is the life expectancy of a battery on this Unit?
Likely about 2 months after your warranty expires and you have to send it in for a battery replacement directly from future motion since they brick if you attempt yourself. This isn't a company to do business with endless you are loaded, don't mind months long wait times and have top notch heath and disability insurance. If you have a family, I'd suggest life insurance as well. He mentioned it briefly, but ghosting is no joke when it pitches you forward into the pavement. Broken shoulders, collar bones, wrists and ribs are the most common injury. If you get anyway, remember this reply in the future (motion)...you've been warned by random internet guy.
Pretty sad the issues they have on a 2 thousand dollar product. For most people, that's a lot of 💰💰💰 money
Yea, it's probably my most expensive "toy". I was very bummed about the situation and feel for anybody who spent this much and got a lemon. So far they are honoring warranties at least, but it would have been nice to be perfect from the get go.
Got forbid you have to replace the battery and given their stance on #righttorepair it will brick your board.

As someone who used to live overseas... it definitely sucks. I love my Onewheels, but I'm warning people that they might want to wait on the GT until they get all the issues ironed out... unless they just have money to burn. And I agree, at the very least, we really should be able to replace the battery on our own. (Ideally I'd love a hot swappable battery pack system).
My gt stopped working today. Just died when I got a turn. Now I push the power button, nothing. Plug it in, nothing.. anybody going threw this??
Hi Michael, might be the same problem I and others have had. No power, no charging, etc. I would go to support.onewheel.com/ and at the top right, click Submit a Request and let them know what's going on. That's what I did and they had me send back my board and they took care of it at no cost to me...I just had to wait longer, but at least I can ride again. GL.

Helmet safety is important. We recently had a fellow rider go down and saw first hand what happens if you aren't protecting your head. Ambulance had to get him. So, thanks for pointing it out...I definitely wasn't thinking when I recorded that part.
Future motions is going in a bad anti consumer direction with it's designs. Have a look at the videos of Louis Rossmann about not be able to replace a battery by yourself or by a third party. Stop promoting bad behaving companies and look for other solutions.

Dealing with lithium batterys isnt something everybody should do I have a buddy that does. Has for years an he still can have problems if you mess the math up. Safer just to stay stock. Why give something more juice when it travles 20mph an max 32 miles no need to
@@gamesofshaggy4025 I do agree with you lithium batteries can be very dangerous but you should do due diligence and research before you try to work on anything even changing a tire on a vehicle. Certain companies like apple will make their products to where you have to take their product to a apple certified repair shop to have it worked on another example is BMW vehicles if your battery goes bad you cannot just buy another battery and put in the vehicle you have to take the battery and have it registered to your vehicle at the dealership and they have to program the car to that battery. This type of stuff is my argument is that companies are intentionally making things to wear when it breaks they can make more money off of it. I want to be able to repair something myself or take it to a place close to my house for a fraction of the price to a professional that could fix it.
I was going to buy one but Future Motion sounds like a real garbage company I'll pass. Sounds like a liability lawsuit is in the very near future and they'll be gone anyway.

Can't imagine spending over $2,000 on a board and having to ask the question will it turn on on the first try? That is no ring endorsement and it'll be a miracle if this company is still around in 3 months because of the boards are sweet but it seems that the consistency is dog shit
